[AI] Fwd: Equality+20: How can you support celebration of 20 years of the Disability Act?

2015-07-17 Thread avinash shahi
-- Forwarded message --
From: Disability News and Information Service dnis.in...@gmail.com
Date: Fri, 17 Jul 2015 17:58:20 +0530
Subject: Equality+20: How can you support celebration of 20 years of
the Disability Act?
To:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for the tremendous response towards our campaign Equality+20 to
commemorate the 20th year of the Disability Act of 1995. Many of you have
sent in comments and questions about getting involved in this campaign. To
that end, we are sending out this email with a timeline of activities.

*1. 'Signs of the Times'*: This is a logo design competition to mark the
20th year of the Disability Act of 1995. The winning logo will be awarded a
cash prize and will be unveiled on December 3, the International Day of
Persons with Disabilities. Only one entry per person is allowed.

*What can you do*: Please disseminate this information in your networks.
*Deadline: September 30, 2015*.

*2. Twenty stories more*: The idea of the Equality+20 campaign is to take
the discourse on disability rights away from the big cities and capitals to
the smaller towns and villages of India. To do this, we encourage people to
share stories of how the Disability Act of 1995 impacted their lives. These
can be photos as well. For example, if one school in a remote village in
the North East became accessible for that one student with disability -
that is a story the country needs to hear. Alternatively, this could also
be stories of how change has not reached the villages.

*Please note stories should not be more than 500 words*. These stories will
be shared widely within the disability sector as well as with other
stakeholders. Selected stories will then be compiled in a commemorative
publication.

*What can you do*: Share this information with your networks.
Encourage them to share their stories and
photos.
Share stories of your own grassroots
campaign.
*Timeline: Ongoing from August 1, 2015 - December 3, 2015*.

*3. Walk to Freedom*: This is a rally in Delhi on December 3, 2015 to mark
both the culmination of the campaign as well as the International Day of
Persons with Disabilities. We hope to raise the pitch for an inclusive
India by having thousands of people with disabilities, their friends and
families from across the country coming to Delhi to participate in this
event.

*What can you do*: Spread the word in your network.
Motivate people to start planning to be in
Delhi.
Come to Delhi on December 3 to participate
in the
   'Walk to Freedom'

*Timeline: Now till December 3, 2015*

As the days progress, you will of course get more updates and requests
based on specific issues.

Once again, we appreciate your support!

With best regards,

Hi,

If you use regular HTML code for elements, then it would read as you mentioned.

As for as the forms validation is concerned, (missing entry in form
fields) your best bet would be using java script or forms embedded
with AJAX.

Independence of Cyberspace”, an attempt to capture the promise of
openness and liberation that the young internet seemed to offer.
“Governments of the Industrial World, you weary giants of flesh and
steel,” it began. “I come from Cyberspace, the new home of Mind…You
are not welcome among us. You have no sovereignty where we gather.”
http://www.economist.com/news/books-and-arts/21657751-ever-second-world-war-spies-have-pushed-development-computers-lookout
To anyone familiar with the history of the computers that make the
internet possible, it was an ironic idea. The modern computer came of
age during the second world war. Colossus, a lumbering
electromechanical contraption widely regarded as the first modern
computer, was assembled at Bletchley Park, the headquarters of
Britain’s vast wartime code-breaking operation. It was a machine built
to spy and to break open German secrets. These days, with worries
about mass surveillance, digital espionage and computer crime filling
the papers, the unsavoury heritage of the computer seems impossible to
escape.

It is that heritage—together with its modern implications—that lie at
the heart of “Intercept”, a new book by Gordon Corera, the BBC’s
security correspondent. The message of this dual history of computers
and electronic spying is that the two are inextricably linked, with
developments in one constantly spurring advances in the other.
Contrary to its modern mythmaking as a home of rugged, independent
entrepreneurs, Silicon Valley, Mr Corera reminds readers, owes its
existence to the munificence of America’s soldiers and spies, whose
endless appetite for more and faster chips spurred the technologies
that would eventually bring cheap computers to everyone.

These days, the computerised world presents spies across the globe
with both a challenge and an opportunity. Unlike the paper kind,
electronic data is weightless, and computers are riddled with security
holes. That makes stealing secrets easier than ever. At the same time,
computers are able to place the sort of cryptography with which
Bletchley Park struggled in the second world war into the hands of
everyone—including criminals, foreign spies and terrorists.

Balancing the risks and rewards can sometimes be difficult. Mr Corera
describes how Markus Wolf, the head of East Germany’s notorious Stasi
(which, at one point, was thought to have files on about a third of
the nation’s citizens), resisted the temptation to computerise his
organisation’s miles of paper files. After all, pointed out Mr Wolf,
the very convenience of computerised data made a big leak more likely.
That point was spectacularly illustrated in 2013, when Edward Snowden
walked out of America’s National Security Agency with tens of
thousands of pilfered documents, a feat that would have been
impossible in the pre-computer age.

Mr Corera has been given plenty of access to Western intelligence
agencies, and he describes their dilemmas with sympathy. Monitoring
the internet for suspicious behaviour may help forestall a terrorist
attack, they point out, and arguments about privacy can seem abstract
and unreal after such attacks succeed. At the same time the author
does not shy away from the implications of granting the spies ever
more power to surveil. Technology has made practical the kind of mass
surveillance that would have turned Mr Wolf green with envy. In the
West, at least, such powers are held in check by laws governing how
the agencies behave. But the temptation to go further, to trade a
little more privacy for a little more security, is always present.

At the same time, the ability to conduct such mass surveillance is no
longer confined to nation-states. The internet’s biggest
companies—such as Facebook and Google—have put a corporate twist on
mass surveillance. The price for their services is collecting up
users’ data: detailed lists of their preferences, habits, opinions and
life histories, all packaged up and sold to advertisers to help them
target commercial products.

The book’s main message, though, is that computers have automated
espionage, and made it cheap and easy. Spying on someone used to be
hard, labour-intensive work. Tails had to be set, hidden microphones
planted, post intercepted and steamed open. These days a person’s
laptop and smartphone broadcasts their life across the internet,
pre-packaged into a form that other computers can digest, analyse and
correlate. Never mind all those cold-war thrillers set in 1970s
Berlin. The true golden age of spying and surveillance—whether carried
out by states or, increasingly, by companies—is now.

Friend, javascript is a kind of programming language, and can directly be
typed in your regular notepad(but not wordpad or ms word) so you no longer
need to worry about jaws or any other screen reader compatibility. Feel free
to hunt your javascript tutorial on google, and start learning now. Best

[AI] News of Interest: DPI allegations completely baseless: Javed Abidi

2015-07-17 Thread avinash shahi
I will not prefix much to this story however have several articles to
substantiate that the Chair in question publickly maintained last year
in India that disability is a apolitical issue. Its very political.
The issue of less representation of the global south is well-taken
however if we understand this in larger context its in all
organisations be it WTO,IMF or other disability NGOs such as handicap
International and the Rotery club. Its real-politics and is pervasive
in all organisations. In India, disability organisations function in
such manner where individuals become bigger than organisations.

http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/dpi-allegations-completely-baseless-javed-abidi/article7431718.ece
“I am very much the global chair of Disabled Peoples’ International
[DPI]. The so-called statement that is circulating is not an authentic
or an authorised statement from the DPI executive council,” Javed
Abidi told The Hindu .

His reaction comes in the wake of a statement issued by the DPI world
council recently stating the Mr. Abidi’s autocratic leadership style
had damaged the council’s image.

DPI is grassroots, cross-disability network with member organisations
in over 110 countries.

Mr. Abidi added that this was false claim that has been made by a
bunch of his detractors. “The hollowness of this claim can be gauged
by just the following fact. The DPI world council [with political
representation from all over the world] has 34 members. Of them, only
five were physically present in Dhaka.”

He noted that all decisions that are being labelled as “autocratic”
were taken by the DPI executive council and world council in an open,
transparent, and democratic manner.“The slander campaign is reflective
of a larger malaise of the global disability movement,” said Mr.
Abidi.

He noted that richer nations were controlling the discourse on
disability issues.

“If you look around, global disability organisations have people from
the global north controlling their governance,” he said.

Speaking about problems he faced while working with DPI, Mr. Abidi
said that “800 million of the world’s one billion people with
disabilities live in the global south. Yet, the powers and decision
making of the disability movement have been historically in the hands
of the global north. My election as the DPI global chair was in that
sense, reflective of a stirring within the global south.”

“Given that the power structure has been questioned, it is expected
that the ones who have ruled the roost for 30 years would try every
trick in the book to ensure that the reforms that my colleagues in the
DPI executive and world council are trying to bring fail.”

He added that strict action will be taken against those who are
responsible for this attempted coup of sorts.

1: Overview

This extraordinary meeting of the World Council was decided and
organized by the World Council Members because of the amount of
malfunctions of and illegal decisions that affect the DPI image and
reputation, and because of the number of divisions generated by the
Chair as much within the organization than within all the
international disability community.

The DPI Regional Chairs met in Istanbul on February 01, 2015, and
adopted a declaration that was sent to the DPI Chair and World Council
Members. Due the absence of response from the Chair and the
continuation of the malfunctioning, the World Council Members decided
to meet and decide for the future of DPI on June 28, 29 and 30 to take
the emergency decisions needed. In accordance with the DPI
Constitution, his extraordinary World Council meeting was legally
summoned on May 30.

Due the lack of transparency and the unilateral decisions of the past
Chair to accept and dismiss some members, the list of the World
Council Members was re-established by the Regional Chairs, conforms to
the Articles 10 and 11 of the constitution.

2: Attendance

17 World Councilors are present, with Mr Alpha Boubacar Diop as
special guest. The total of World Council Members is 32, so the quorum
is 16+1.

World council members acknowledge the formation of the new Arab region
following Seoul and Durban decision and welcome the new world council
members from this region.

Rachel Kachaje, and Shoji Nakanishi participated with a Skype
connection, 9 members are represented, with a proxy and 8 are
presents. The proxies are put on the table.

 Dear Sir,
 The following points needs clarification.
 1. Whether payment of double TA not mentioned in the LPC issued on
 transfer?
 2. Whether the fact of visual disability not entered in the service book?
 3. Whether the employee retain with her the original medical
certificate issued by the competent authority? \\
If answers are positive you can really challenge the attitude of KVS.
But before going to Court or the Commissioner of Disability, approach
the higher authorities of KVS through a representation giving them a
months time to rectify their mistake.

Hello,

Java and java script are 2 different thintgs. As Raju said, u need not
to be worried about JAWS and java script, it can be written in simple
text editer, and then be embedded in web page. for tutorial, try w3
school or www.tutorialspoint.com also has some good resource for the
beginner for various scripting and programming languages.

Java is a programming language, can be coded using notepad, notepad ++
or any such text editors, or through integrated development
environment such as eclipse and netbeans. you need not to think of
java for now.
