[AI] Fwd: [nvda-winten] Windows 10 compatibility (unofficial confirmation): yes with caveats

2015-07-28 Thread Bhavya shah
-- Forwarded message --
From: Joseph Lee
Date: Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:41:41 -0700
Subject: [nvda-winten] Windows 10 compatibility (unofficial
confirmation): yes with caveats
To: nvda-win...@freelists.org

Hi Windows Insiders:

First, I apologize if I should have waited for announcements from NV Access
regarding Windows 10.

Second, as a Windows Insider and one of the contributors to NVDA screen
reader project, I can confirm that NVDA is indeed compatible with Windows 10
with caveats. For many users, please hold off until NVDA 2015.3 is released
before upgrading to Windows 10.

Here's what to expect for each snapshot branch users:

* For official build users: You should wait until NVDA 2015.3 is
released. Please wait for official confirmation from NV access.

* For those using master snapshots: NVDA reads Start search results,
announces Action Center toast notifications and has slightly easier time
with switching apps (I found out last night that NVDA supports Snap Assist).

* For those using next snapshots: in addition to master snapshots,
NVDA includes basic support for Edge browser (ask Mick Curran from NV Access
for more details), as well as controls based on edge (including slightly
better support for Cortana).

I'd like to take this time to request assistance with continued Windows 10
support, especially for resident developers who'll remain as Windows
Insiders with me and others:

As Windows 10 will use continuous updating and thanks to Windows Insider
program, it is now possible for some of us to code support for updated
features before it goes out to the general public. Please help us Insiders
by helping us test new features and write support for them in order to
reduce burden for users when they upgrade to newer builds. Thank you.

I'd like to take this time to say thank you for Windows Insiders present for
continued bug reports, suggestions and helping me and others troubleshoot
Windows 10 issues. Not only I got a chance to help NV Access with Windows 10
support, I also learned a few things that could be useful as I continue to
investigate Windows 10 for other NVDA users. Hope to see some of you remain
as Insiders to help NV Access troubleshoot Windows 10 issues and to provide
suggestions to support new features (as Windows Insiders, we are responsible
for success of NVDA for other Windows 10 users).

For those waiting for official confirmation, please wait for an official
announcement from NV Access regarding Windows 10 support. Thanks, and have a
nice rest of the week (and a smooth upgrade experience for those upgrading
this week).

Cheers,

Joseph

Re: [AI] accessibility of HDFC bank's net banking

2015-07-28 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi Dinesh,

HDFC bank does not have a captcha per se. You need to check a checkbox to
confirm if the image and associated text is what you entered. Your screen reader
should be able to read the file name of the image which is what I use to judge
if that image is similar to the base image I setup. I can use the vOICe but that
will take a few more seconds which I choose not to spend. There is also text
which is easily readable. As for the link I use, here goes.
https://netbanking.hdfcbank.com/netbanking/?_ga=1.220777181.452204680.1422369957

Warning: link may wrap.

Hello Sir,

In that case, could you please share the link from where you loged in?
In my case, the capture comes on the password entering screen.
I have used hdfcbank.com and then used the net banking option to login.
Please let me know.

[AI] Godavari Pushkaralu: Visually impaired students take dip

Basar (Adilabad): A group of eight visually impaired students of
Osmania University, Hyderabad, took a holy dip at the Basar pushkar
ghat with religious fervor and gaiety and had a darshan of Goddess
Saraswati.

The students joined hands together and headed towards the pushkar ghat
and took the holy dip without much difficulty at Basar. The students
came from Hyderabad by train and enjoyed the Godavari Pushkaralu with
a common friend briefing them about the arrangements.

Visually impaired students studying at Osmania University, Mahesh,
Venkanna and Swamy Naik are natives of Nalgonda, Srinivas Reddy of
Karimnagar, Nagesh and Bhanu Kumar of Nizambad and Venkatesh and
others came to the ghats with the help of their common friend and took
the holy dip with the help of volunteers, and police present at the
ghat. “We can feel the flow of the river Godavari and visualise its
beauty though they may not see it and added that they can feel like
any other person with our ‘mano netram’ (inner consciousness) though
they are blind,” said visually impaired Venkanna who took the holy
dip. He said for all the visually impaired friends who came to Basar
this was a first time life experience. They were grateful for being
able to experience it.

The students also visited the Suryeshwara temple (Shiva) on the banks
of river Godavari and had darshan. Some of the students among them
were PG students from Nizam College in Hyderabad.

The visually impaired students say that they were pursuing higher
studies with the blessings of Goddess Saraswati otherwise they would
not have come to this le

Re: [AI] accessibility of HDFC bank's net banking

2015-07-28 Thread Dinesh Thole
Hello Sir,

Recently, HDFC has introduced capture for net banking login.
I tried to use webvisum for solving the capture, but it doesn't work.
Have you faced this issue?

Warm Regards.

Hi Karan,

I use HDFC bank's website regularly.
1. If using jaws, turn off the option to filter conexecutive links.
For all graphical links, route the jaws cursor to the pc cursor and double
cleck. You can use a similar procedure for NVDA where you route the focus to
the
current position in the virtual buffer.
2. Using firefox is a shade easier since you can hit enter on non-graphical
links.
3. Be careful with the menus. When using the funds transfer options, when
you
hit on the funds transfer link, the relevant options appear below the "funds
transfer" link in a list.
4. The balance in the financial summary appears in a single line and not in
a
separate table as it used to so read the page carefully.
5. Let me know if you are having issues with any specific part of the site.
