[AI] Fujitsu's ScanSnap SV600: A Potentially Best Scanning and OCR Solution for the Blind

2016-02-26 Thread Saaqib Mahmuud
Hello mates? Let me share with you something that, I hope, many of you are
going to find interesting and useful.

Blind and visually impaired students and teachers need to do a lot of scanning
and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) of printed books.

With the common flatbed scanners, putting the book face down on the scanner bed
can lead to the book spine to get damaged; sometimes the page doesn't scan
properly due to thickness of the book.

Here's the link to a couple of page containing information about a scanning
device that I think would be more suitable for this purpose.

This device is called the Fujitsu's ScanSnap SV600.

Manufacturer's pages:

1.
http://www.fujitsu.com/global/products/computing/peripheral/scanners/scansnap/sv600/

2.
http://scanners.fcpa.fujitsu.com/scansnap11/features_sv600.html

My google search page:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Fujitsu+ScanSnap+SV600=utf-8=utf-8

A page with price info in Pakistan:
 http://www.symbios.pk/scansnap-sv600

Have anyone of you actually used this device? If so, do you findĀ  this scanner
to be any better for the job of scanning and OCR of, say, a 800-page book?

I would be eagerly awaiting your feedback.

Regards.

Sincerely,
Saaqib Mahmood

Re: [AI] Not able to type security key to connect to Wifi networks

2016-02-26 Thread shyamala smart
if you connect a particular y5 for the first time, you should give the
free share key by typing in the edit box or give alt+s to go to edit
box.
if you select connect automatically, you need not want to type free
share key for the next times.

[AI] Not able to type security key to connect to Wifi networks

2016-02-26 Thread Viraj Kafle
Friends,

I am not able to type security key to connect to wifi networks.
Nothing happens as I input on the edit box. The PC is set to connect
automatically to a network and that way it is working well. But I am
getting no luck if I want to connect to other networks.

Any suggestion would be of great help.

Regards.

Subject: [AI] jaws announcements on focussed table elements

Hello,
This is regarding jaws announcement while creating, editing and
selecting the table elements. I am teaching someone who is at the
beginner stage and learning to work in word 2003.

He has jaws 16 installed with windows 8 on his machine. I have set his
jaws verbosity at the beginner level. Typing echo to word and and
screen echo to highlighted.

Now suppose, he would like to create the table in his word document.
So he first Press Alt-A to pull down the Table menu. Now, in this
menu, selected the table option under insert submenu. Now, in the
insert table dialog box, specified the number of columns and rows and
pressed enter on ok button. here focus directly goes inside the table
menu but jaws does not announces the focus information. Here for
example, it should announce like
Uniform table 1 column 1 row 1 of 2 table 1.

Same case happens when we select any table elements under table menu
to insert or delete the columns or rows and after pressing enter,
jaws should announce the focus information as
uniform table column 1 row 1 table 1.

Rather it announces something else as section 1 has 1 page header, edit

So to announce each time I am changing my focus in table as above,
after I select or insert or delete any rows, it should announce like
Uniform table, column 2 of 4 row 1 of 2 and so on.

Kindly suggest the way out.

Hope I am able to make you understand my concern.

If not clear, kindly get back.
