Re: [AI] DSSSB Discriminates: Blind candidate commited suicide
Thank you Sushil for the clarification. I in my mail mentioned at the outset that I was sharing a note from Facebook and prvided URL for the same. This meant that I didn't bouch for the othenticity. I however feel that DSSB is discriminating too the core and many blind candidates are depressed and finding it difficult to cope with the agony. [AI] Prime Minister's 66th Birthday: In a record, PM Narendra Modi to gift aids to 11, 000 on his 66th birthday
Nidhi Sharma Economic Times 15th September http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/in-a-record-pm-narendra-modi-to-gift-aids-to-11000-on-his-66th-birthday/articleshow/54337857.cms The government would distribute assistive aids worth Rs 7.5 crore. NEW DELHI: The government is eyeing Guinness Book of Records on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 66th birthday this Saturday. In a major initiative in his home state Gujarat, Modi would distribute assistive aids and appliances in Navsari to 11,000 differently-abled persons - the highest ever number in the world. In the run-up to the grand ceremony, the government is eyeing three more Guinness records on the eve. These include 1,000 oil lamps lit by differently-abled at one time, a formation by 1,000 wheelchair-bound persons and distribution of hearing aid to 1,000 beneficiaries. Lighting 1,000 oil lamps by differently-abled would be the first such attempt in the world. So far, the record of a formation by wheelchair-bound persons is held in US by 346 differentlyabled. In a record, PM Narendra Modi to gift aids to 11,000 on his 66th birthday India would try and break the record held in Australia when 500 persons were given hearing aids. Speaking to ET, department of empowerment of persons with disabilities joint secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi said, "We are attempting this record ceremony to bring awareness and change the mindset of the people. We have conducted three surveys to get over 11,000 beneficiaries in this area." The department worked closely with the district administration headed by collector Ravi Arora, who is himself differently-abled. Modi, alongwith social justice and empowerment minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot and area BJP MP C R Patil, would be giving tricycles, wheelchairs, cerebral palsy chair, multi sensory integrated educational development (MSIED) kit, calipers and prosthesis and loan cheques to 11,223 beneciaries in Navsari. The government would distribute assistive aids worth Rs 7.5 crore. The government had missed the record in January earlier this year in Prime Minister's constituency Varanasi. Even then assistive aids and appliances had been distributed to 10,200 beneficiaries but the Guinness Book of Records officials had raised some objections on the way videography was done. This time the government is not taking any chances. The event would be videographed properly and Guinness observers from UK would be watching and counting -- Avinash Shahi Doctoral student at Centre for Law and Governance JNU Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. With reference to the above mail I would like to say that This news is totally fake news. Harinder Kumar was my good friend. on last Tuesday, I had gone to the deceased home near Pataudi and met his family members. He had got the job and his appointment was on 6th September 2016 in a school in Sagarpur area of South Delhi. He slipped from the 1st floor of his house while he was watering the under construction portion of his house. It was nearly an accident and nothing more. Now after his death I feel that some people are trying to take advantage of his death by blowing this matter into a huge one . I feel That we must stop this non-sense and pray for departed soul. [AI] Vijay Goel sucks: No policy to award Khel Ratna to Paralympics medal winners: Sports Minister
Sports Minister Vijay Goel on Wednesday refused to commit if medallists of the ongoing Rio Paralympics will be conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award — the highest sporting honour in the country. http://indianexpress.com/article/sports/sport-others/no-policy-to-award-khel-ratna-to-paralympic-medallist-sports-minister-vijay-goel-3031442/ An Olympic medallist directly qualifies for the Khel Ratna award during an Olympic year but Goel said there is no such policy in place for the paralympians. “Our Paralympians have made India proud winning four medals so far in Rio Paralympics. But on the issue of awards, till now there has been no decision on any such policy for paralympians. We will take up the matter,” Goel told reporters during the unveiling of the logo of the upcoming Kabaddi World Cup, to be held in Ahmedabad next month. -- Avinash Shahi Doctoral student at Centre for Law and Governance JNU Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. [AI] DSSSB Discriminates: Blind candidate commited suicide
Sharing an FB note of blind candidates who's plea for justice is not attended by the Delhi government. NGOs in Delhi are requested to step in please. Many of the candidates are disturbed and could take serious steps to get rid of humiliation. Note begins Sub :- Regarding discrimination with visually impaired candidates. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1145598662191425=12239066243&_rdr#1145601572191134 Visual impairment and vote bank politics. If you belong to any weaker section having a large vote bank then government will make decisions in your favour and media will published news, articles, reports etc about circumstances and requirements of your particular group. But the population of visually impaired candidates is scattered so they are not vote bank and facing discrimination, ignorance everywhere. Harinder kumar was recently blind and disappointed from DOE,DSSSB and Delhi Govt. He was the victim of the DOE,DSSSB and Delhi Govt. Harinder kumar had expired on 12th September 2016. Still a single news is not being published by any print or electronic media even a leader is not taken single step in his favour so I want to draw attention of all NGO's and my friends. Please circulate this message every where so that Harinder kumar may get justice. When a SC or a farmer commits sucides or expired due to carelessness, misconduct by a government body then popular leaders, anchors come forward to suport his family. Harinder kumar was disturbed from feb 2014 when DSSSB Advertised vacancies of the special education teacher at that time DSSSB did not Identify this post for visually inpaired candidates after then all the visually impaired candidate disappointed including Harinder kumar. Later on CCPD (HIGH COURT) Intervined and proved that visually impaired candidate is suitable for this post special education teacher. As a result DSSSB Readvertised vacancies in july 2014 in which 14 seats were reserved for visually impaired candidates. After conducting exam in Oct 2014 DSSSB took one an half year to declare the final list of the selected candidates. Now story of discrimination, carelessness, negligence started from march of 2016 by directorate of education (DOE) Old secretariat Delhi. Harinder kumar and other visually impaired candidates were already disturbed. DSSSB and DOE aggravated thier condition. In april 2016 DOE Called all the candidates for document verification and given medical performa for filling the related details and informed us to wait for one month. After one month we received a medical letter in which single alphabet was not added by DOE. It was same perfoma which was filled by the candidates at the time of document verification. DOE could give us that letter on the spot but DOE wanted to delay the appointments so DOE did not mentioned the category of visually impaired candidates. Consequently Jag Parvesh Chandra Hospital declared medically unfit to all the visually impaired candidates. This miss fortune depressed the visually impaired candidates badly. After the interventions of Health Minister (Delhi Govt), Jag Parvesh Chandra Hospital declared medically fit to all the visually impaired candidates according to guidelines of DOPT. Visually impaired candidates knocked the door of CM, DUPTY CM, LG Secretary, Chief Secretary of Delhi, Education Director Mrs Somya Gupta, Additional Director Mrs Ranjana Deshwal but door is still shut, everybody neglected their request even visually impaired candidates informed to all the concerned authorities that their economic and mental condition is severe and serious so they may commit sucide. Ultimately DOE uploaded the joining list on its website in that list eight 8 visually impaired candidates were not included. Mr. Harendra kumar was expired because he could not join yet. So 8 visually impaired candidates are very disturb they are still wandering unemployed, empty handed and forced by DOE to commit suicide. They have passed in written exam medically fit and completed all the formalities. But DOE is still punishing them on tbe basis of their disability. So its my humble request to all the NGOs, friends, leaders to come forward and make justice with the Late Harendra kumar and other visually impaired candidates of post code of 146/14. May God rest his soul. [AI] My one minute reflection: India's spectacular show in Rio and the limelight grabbers activists at home.
After the spectacular show by the Paralympics Indian Contengent in Rio, Some disability Rights Activists at home are cashing in on the occasion by appearing on Television channels and giving bites. Irrespective of the fact whether they have domain knowledge of the particular sport. This trend is very disturbing indeed. We should not let jeneralists grab the highlight who have least domain knowledge. Googling is not a way out… We have specialists in the field of accessibility, it doesn’t mean that they know equally well of the domains such as disability sports, employment, reproductive rights, disability and adoption and so on. Let the least visible sports players and their coaches earn their deserved due and recognition. And we should encourage them and promote their amazing feat achieved at the Rio.
