Good Vamshi,
Though Marrying someone by choice should always be respected as the right of an
individual yet marrying a deity, and that too, by a disabled woman is something
quite different. It really needs to be pondered seriously. Let alone the
question of disability, a girl can marry Lord Krishna or Shiva or anyone but
have we ever heard a male marrying a Goddess? Religion shaping
masculinity/femininity and disability should be looked upon as a sociological
and psychological thing. These are my instant reactions; if anything comes to
my mind then I will keep following the thread.
Cheers

[AI] Who said what on RPD Bill in the Rajya Sabha today

2016-12-13 Thread avinash shahi
The house is adjourned till 2:00pm
Rajya Sabha | 11.45 a.m.

Discussion on amendments to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill begins.

"Remove the clause that this does not apply to posts that require
people who aren't disabled," says Sitaram Yechury. Minister ensures
that Rules will make sure that this is diluted. Clause by clause
consideration continues.

"Reservation should be based on cadre strength, not on number of
vacancies meant to be filled," says Mr. yechury. Mr. Gehlot says he
will try to ensure this in the Rules. The rest of the amendments will
be taken up at 2 p.m. says the Chair.

Rajya Sabha | 11.30 a.m.

The House takes up the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, moved
by Thaawar Chand Gehlot. "59 suggestions from standing commitee have
been accepted. The number of categories of disabled are to be
increased for physical as well as mental disabilities. I thank House
for agreeing to pass it even without discussion," says Mr. Gehlot.

"We are fulfilling a national and global commitment. I myself have
lived with a locomotive disability," says Karan Singh. "People should
realise that the disabled need to be treated with special courtesy."

Naresh Agrawal says, "Simplify the definition of disabled. It should
be easier to attain the certificate. I support the Bill."

Nadimul Haque of the Trinamool Congress, "We welcome the number of
disabled categories being increased from seven to 21. We support the
Bill."

C.P. Narayanan of the CPI(M) says, "Though the conditions of the Bill
are good, government seems to have brought in clauses that may curtail
the rights of the disabled. That is my fear."

Narendra Kumar Swain of the BJD says he supports the Bill. Satish
Mishra of the BSP says that the term should be "differently abled" and
not "disabled." The Mayawati government in UP, he says, was the first
to give 50 per cent reservation for persons with disabilities at
Shakuntala Mishra University. He supports the Bill.

Vijaysai Reddy of the YSR Congress says reservation should be
increased to five per cent from four per cent.

Mr. Gehlot replies that 12,672 of 15,691 vacancies for persons with
disabilities have been filled since 2014. "We are making universal
identity cards for them. They will get their rights. We have given
four per cent reservation, up from three per cent."

Clause by clause consideration of the Bill begins.

Re: [AI] News of Interest: Visually challenged girl ‘marries’ Lord Krishna in MP’s Tikamgarh district

2016-12-13 Thread Naresh Kumar
Good Vamshi,
Though Marrying someone by choice should always be respected as the
right of an individual yet marrying a deity, and that too, by a
disabled woman is something quite different. It really needs to be
pondered seriously. Let alone the question of disability, a girl can
marry Lord Krishna or Shiva or anyone but have we ever heard a male
marrying a Goddess? Religion shaping masculinity/femininity and
disability should be looked upon as a sociological and psychological
thing. These are my instant reactions; if anything comes to my mind
then I will keep following the thread.
Cheers

With marriage for disabled presenting its own difficulties, is this
what people started resorting to? And, as said by Rajesh sir, this
is manifestation of disabled being termed as Divyang. Well, when a
male SP of police department in Mathura claims he is Radha (lover of
Krishna), a female wishing to marry Krishna is not too surprising,
whether or not disabled. I really wish sanety prevails in this world!

Vasu,

I think it exists only for cars specially designed for physically
challenged and not for blind persons owning normal cars. If I'm not
wrong, the rule states that the car should have a board that it is
driven by a physically challenged. Checked it sometime ago for a
friend. don't know whether there is a change in the rule now.

Nop, I don't wish to debate who killed the Bill in 2014 and who
swallowed the bitter pills as a consequence. The Access India archive
has all such record in tact in its repository so it doesn't warrant
any flash back. If you've anything to offer for the amended Bill and
its future now, I'll revert. Else go on!

Dear Friends,

We have received a new G.O for KSRTC Buss pass for the blind.
As per that, the Bus pass will be valid for 5 years.
But I enquired in KSRTC office last week.
They stated that they have not received any notification for issueing the
bus pass for 5 years.

Already it has been released before 3 months.
When this G.O will be implemented.
Or, it is just for name sake.

Thanks

fine with firefox and I use it both with firefox and internet explorer.

The issue is not just of any issue with PNB as such. The issue becomes
an issue because the tax paying portel starts with a captcha and there
is no audio alternative. Hd the captcha not been there or an
alternative like an audio captcha or OTP was available, this issue
would not even have come up.
As for PNB, I have my firefox running the latest version, and even
Java is up to date. In any case, if the IT department can get their

problem.

And if you have to file tax as a self assesse, then you are completely
gone, as the online tax paying system start with a stupid captcha. You
can solve the captcha with firefox, but the bank I have online banking
facility availed with, Punjab National Bank, does not allow
transactions through firefox, gets a session timed out error and was
told by the branch that that is because I used firefox.

whether it is in caps or small.
2. the DOB field is not accessible with firefox and can be filled with

3. the captcha is accessible with firefox but no solution about alfa

the DOB field is not accessible.
4. the DOB field is accessible with internet explorer but AUDIO

the claim of accessibility of ITD website is false. why don't this

captcha is to be replaced with OTP. income tax department have enough

don't become excited. the problem still persist.
 1. the CAPTCHA is still in alfa-numeric format. how can we recognise
 audio

whether it is in caps or small.
 2. the DOB field is not accessible with firefox and can be filled
with
internet explorer after 2 or 3 retries.
 3. the captcha is accessible with firefox but no solution about alfa
 and

the DOB field is not accessible.
 4. the DOB field is accessible with internet explorer but AUDIO
 captcha
is not working. hence it has become worse than i filed my return in
 june
2016. and i never faced any accessibility issue while filing my IT
 return

 ITR1.
the claim of accessibility of ITD website is false. why don't this
 bloody

captcha is to be replaced with OTP. income tax department have enough
money to give mobile service providers for sending OTP through sms.
please don't suggest alternet login method like net banking etc as i
 am
already doing. and all banks have not linked with income tax login.
