Re: [AI] Netflicks and audio description

2018-08-04 Thread Timy Sebastian
Hi deependra Sir,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Could you please try to add the AD description for some of the
regional languages movies such as, Malayalam, thamil, kannada,
thelugu, and so?

That will be useful for wide audiences sure.

Hope these suggestions will consider in the future versions.

Stay well,

With regards,

Timy.

Try to be in a area with very good network coverage.
Less the network more the battery utilization.
Try to change location services to *use only while using the app* of apps like
facebook etc.
And have a powerbank with you as since ios 11.3 update battery performance
has drastically degraded.

Re: [AI] need the list of english braille contractions for english in brl or brf format

2018-08-04 Thread Dipendra Manocha
Hello Meharaj

All the English speaking countries. Have shifted to UEB (Unified English
Braille)

In India, Braille Council of India is working on analyzing its implications
on using UEB along with Indian language braille code. Thus, as of now old
code continues. Unfortunately, this code is not standardized. For example,
the standards document of Indian braille says that we would follow British
English braille. However, most braille presses print braille signs of
punctuation marks or mathematical symbols in literary text as prescribed in
"English Braille American Edition" (EBEA).

We do not have soft copy of Indian braille code available anywhere. Thus at
this point for all practical purposes, you should follow US English
literary braille guidelines available at:

http://www.brailleauthority.org/literary/literary.html

you can download and read brf file of this guideline from here. Do not
bother about the warning on this page about this guideline being abolished
since current guideline used in Braille books in US is UEB. However, UEB is
not yet adopted in India and there is not much chance of it being used for
coming few years.

Good thing about using braille display is that digital text can be converted
to any English braille in few minutes. you just need to have right tables on
your device.

Happy braille reading

Thanks
Dipendra

[AI] inputs required on the effective maintenance of an I phone

2018-08-04 Thread Narean Navarasan
Dear access indians/I phone users,

I've recently bought an I phone SE from Flip cart. When everything
works well, I couldn't compromise on the battery getting even for
short phone calls. Say for instance. I am getting call when the
battery is 50% and speak for 8 minutes. When I read the taskbar, I
could see that the battery has gone down to 45/44%.
I'd always attend calls only after ensuring that the mobile data is
turned off. I've tried changing the mobile network from 4g to 3g
signal.
The screen contrast has also been reduced to 0. Apart from these
things, is there anything to be done to ensure the durability of the
battery?

Kindly share your expertise/inputs in this regard.

Thanks

Narean

Hi Vatsal,

What you have done is definitely very good. But being elder to you, the only
sincere advice I would give you to take calculated risks and adopt strategies
to mitigate risks, rather than jumping the gun. This habit will prove to be
useful in the professional and personal life at a later stage.

Since you are here now, get in touch with members from your city and try
learning from them.

Do very well in life.

Re: [AI] Paytm Android improves

2018-08-04 Thread Amar Jain
Great Mahesh.

So far as these suggestions are concerned, I do not see it happening soon. It
was literally the pressure which made them to set the basics right at least.
And it took years to get them to do even this much.

In cities like Mumbai, you have other apps for grosseries and shopping, so the
limited use here at least is to just pay the small merchants, who mostly use
Paytm because of it being an early mover in this space. Having said this, we
continue to reach out to developers for getting it done. But their management
has never even responded once. So you can understand.

I can recommend each one of you to Tweet to Mr. Vijay Shekhar Sharma, and try
convincing their investors like Soft Bank, which has a thick skin in the game.

Amar Jain

Most of the times, the updates are so frequent, they are released
 everyday!
I wrote my previous mail after updated it yesterday, but I noticed a new
update was pending today. I'm now confirming that this app has become
accessible now. For how long? Noone knows!

Re: [AI] Paytm Android improves

2018-08-04 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
Hi Amar,
Thanks for this, didn't have the update yesterday though the device is
set to auto-update. Got it finally, and the top row buttons have
become functional again.
However, there still are issues. The navigation control has a few
unlabelled controls as you go down. Starting from 'deals corner'.
Likewise, the right top button on the home screen, that takes to
offers, again is unlabelled. Once an item is added to the shopping
bag, there are a number of buttons that are unlabelled if the bag is
opened. These include buttons controlling the quantity of a particular
item and the option to remove an item from the bag.
As for the mall section, the general store section in particular needs
major improvement, hopefully Paytm in fact would have a serious look
at the mall section of the app from an accessibility point of view.
And probably, besides improving the main Paytm app on that front, they
would also pay more attention to making the Paytm Mall app also more
accessible.

Re: [AI] How TV and satellite channels became accessible in my home

2018-08-04 Thread Pranay Gadodia
Hi Prashant/All,
Thanks for sharing this. Its great news.I found a demonstration of this on
YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nnv8raphv28.

Did anyone else come across any other model of Sony Bravia or other brands
where the TV and also the DTH settop box menus become accessible?

Thanks,
Pranay.

it is not a big deal. you can either press Mute button on Tata Sky or
checkout the program guide from the android section of the tv.

Hi Sir, Great to hear...
But how do you differentiate the Talkback voice when the TV programme is
running? Will the volume MUTE button mutes only the TV programme volume or
the talkback voice also gets muted?

Re: [AI] Netflicks and audio description

2018-08-04 Thread Timy Sebastian
Hi all,

I also use xl sinuma today and notice that, it was a wonderful
experience for watching a movie with audio description.

Watch showlay movie with audio description directly from the youtube.

No doubt, Sukshom team done there part well we can say.

the sad think is that, only two movies are available under movies section.

we xl sinuma users are expecting all regional language movies in the future.

The interesting thing is that, after muting the audio of the movie as
well, we can listen the audio description without any problem.
No doubt, that experience is excelllant.

One suggestion is:,

Without connecting the headphone also, we want to listen the audio
description, if possible.

Hope that facility will be available in the future versions.

The same happens on the iOS platform too! PayTM at one time was easy to
use,
but now the accessibility has been highly compromised. I have begun to
think

that most applications that are accessible becomes accessible by accident
and not by design. Look at PayTM, IRCTC, Union Bank and the examples goes
on. Most app designer do not perhaps know about accessibility or they do
not

simply care. I might have begun sounding a little negative, but the way
things are proceeding, I may not be far away from the truth.

Not sure about Paytm improving exactly.
After the TalkBack 5 update, the Paytm homepage accessibility for the top
row button had become disfunctional. Many TalkBack users tried to take it
up

with Paytm without success, and even Victor Tsran from the Google
Accessibility team contacted them but there was no change whatsoever. Even
now, the buttons, pay, cashback, add money, passbook, they don't work on
the

home page. Whatever button you tap, all the buttons are read together by
TalkBack. And it is the passbook that would open wherever you tap on that
row.
These buttons are working properly on the bank page though.
Will if things get better there, it is a highly used app...

Not sure about Paytm improving exactly.
After the TalkBack 5 update, the Paytm homepage accessibility for the top
row button had become disfunctional. Many TalkBack users tried to take it up
with Paytm without success, and even Victor Tsran from the Google
Accessibility team contacted them but there was no change whatsoever. Even
now, the buttons, pay, cashback, add money, passbook, they don't work on the
home page. Whatever button you tap, all the buttons are read together by
TalkBack. And it is the passbook that would open wherever you tap on that
row.
These buttons are working properly on the bank page though.
Will if things get better there, it is a highly used app...
Best,
