Re: [AI] Urgent: most accessible itel phone

2018-11-01 Thread Satguru Rathi

Hi sir,

I know this is not what you are looking for but if budget is an issue,
try looking at Android go phones. May be, the Nokia 2. The price is
below 5K.

Which type of handset you are looking for?
Touch on Android OS platform or keypad based simple device.
Some of Itel mobile devices have king voice as speech output but all
these phones are 2G.

What is your requirement.

Re: [AI] Kindly let me know the autobiographies written by visually impaired women

2018-11-01 Thread Aman Preet Singh
You can go for AICB Braille printing press and publish it in Braille but
it's very costly. I think we or you do not have the capacity to publish it
from there. You can contact Mitra Jyothi Braille press, Nab India Braille
press Mumbai. But, I think another that currently you do not need to
publish it in Braille because at this time affordable Braille displays are
also available in India. A reader who wants to read it in Braille can
purchase any refreshable Braille display and transfer it's E format into
this and read out it in Braille. You have already upload the first book at
book share so reader can read out it in Braille, now you should also upload
your second autobiography at bookshare so we would be able to read out it
in braille. I hope I can suggest you good

Re: [AI] Survey_Visually Impaired

2018-11-01 Thread Taslima Akter
Hi Ananya,
I appreciate your effort to understand the problems faced by people with
visual impairments. I am a researcher and also doing research with people
with visual impairments for some time. I have conducted both surveys and
interviews with visually impaired people before and would like to suggest
some improvements from my experience. Hope this will help.

   1. I can still see the responses given by the participants from your
first survey link. Please change the settings if possible.
   2. Is it really necessary to collect the name of the participants? From
my understanding, it is always better not to collect identifiable
   information if not needed.
   3. It is appreciated while creating the survey not to force the
participants to answer all the questions. They should have the right to
skip any question if they want.
   4. There are some questions which are not appropriate for the completely
blind person. After knowing that a participant is completely blind you can
conditionally remove them from the survey for them (such as Can you see
the large print headlines in the newspaper? Do you see any colors or
shapes? If yes, what are they? Do you have difficulty in identifying
colors? Is it difficult for you to see labels on medicine bottles? Is it
difficult for you to read prices when you shop?)
   5. I believe you can get the answer to the question "Did you loose your
sight due to disease, accident or trauma?" from the response of this
question "What is the cause of your visual impairment?". You can avoid
asking duplicate questions to make your survey more effective.

Please feel free to reach me if you have any question. I wish you all the
best for your research.

Thanks and regards
Taslima

yes, i fully endorse the idea of interviewing the visually impaired
persons directly. even i myself is the certified trainer for visually
impaired persons hence, if required, i can get you connected with many
desired visually impaired persons for interview. because, i do know
many such blind persons who has lot to contribute towards the survey
but do not know how to operate computer so filling the survey by them
would be out of question. so if this going to help you, then you may
please contact me on my mobile 7021030307

Well yes, I am mainly focusing on the difficulties faced by visually
impaired (late blind) while reading and writing but at the same time
 it's
important for me to know few basic things about being visually impaired.

Have you missed any opportunities because of your blindness?
Do you think ATM's are completely accessible for visually impaired? *
How does it make you feel that you are visually impaired?

Above are the questions you felt were irrelevant, but I asked these
questions because it's important for me to know what are the
 opportunities
you have missed in your life because of your blindness. What is the
 reason
that you are missing out those opportunities etc.
Similarly there are a lot of ATM's, lifts etc. which are not completely
 accessible by visually impaired.

These are just basic questions I wanted to know for my knowledge
 purpose.

Let me know if you are still confused.

 Thank you

Re: [AI] Kindly let me know the autobiographies written by visually impaired women

2018-11-01 Thread Aman Preet Singh
Hi! First of all please let me know the title of your autobiography. And
second thing that this book is available in which language? And the last
one, that you are a visually impaired and axis Indian members are also
visually impaired persons. Then why did not you publish your autobiography
in braille? You know very well that the book you have written is specially
for the visually impaired persons, then you should print or publish the
book in Braille first. after this you should choose another formats for
publishing. With kind regards Aman.

Re: [AI] Survey_Visually Impaired

2018-11-01 Thread Siva Suresh
you are right amar sir.
the one solution is it would be better if she interact with some of
the visually impaired and work on her project instead of giving some
questions which may not be very helpful in getting actual result. I
will be very happy to help if support is needed because I myself
working as a trainer for visually impaired besides my regular job. any
help required happy to help.
thank you

 I read your survey form
in your mail you have said that your focus is on understanding the
problems visually impaired face while reading and writing.
but many of your questions are not related to your focus.
 for example

Have you missed any opportunities because of your blindness?

Do you think ATM's are completely accessible for visually impaired? *

How does it make you feel that you are visually impaired?

The third question is very strange and cannot be answered easily

I hope my comments are helpful

Re: [AI] Survey_Visually Impaired

2018-11-01 Thread Amar Jain
Dear all,

Any constructive feedback would help the researcher to get the most beneficial
outcome.

I do understand that the questions may require little modifications to achieve
objective outcomes, but for us to assess the same, it would be helpful to
understand Ananya’s objectives, clarity of thoughts, and the kind of outcomes
to be achieved. We must appreciate that a student with right intent is trying
to conduct a research, and if there are improvements which can make her efforts
shine, we should guide her to get there.

Amar Jain

rightly said,
it looks like a set of model questions, or a common question like tv news
channel interviewing, "how do you feel being a blind?"

hello ananya priya
I am not at all confused
your questions are not related to your research and they cannot be
answered objectively
Have you missed any opportunities because of your blindness?
every blind person misses thousands of opportunities due to blindness.
what can I write in answer to your question?

Do you think ATM's are completely accessible for visually impaired? *
what difference does my thinking make to accessibility of ATMs?
even so called accessible ATMs are not really accessible

How does it make you feel that you are visually impaired?
everyday my feelings about my blindness are different.

I suggest that you should directly interview some visually impaired
persons to increase your knowledge of their life.

thank you

Hello Sir,

Thank you so much for your feedback, It really means a lot.
I will definitely keep the pointers in mind and sorry for the difficulties
you faced while answering the questions.

Well yes, I am mainly focusing on the difficulties faced by visually
impaired (late blind) while reading and writing but at the same time it's
important for me to know few basic things about being visually impaired.

Have you missed any opportunities because of your blindness?
Do you think ATM's are completely accessible for visually impaired? *
How does it make you feel that you are visually impaired?

Above are the questions you felt were irrelevant, but I asked these
questions because it's important for me to know what are the opportunities
you have missed in your life because of your blindness. What is the reason
that you are missing out those opportunities etc.
Similarly there are a lot of ATM's, lifts etc. which are not completely
accessible by visually impaired.

These are just basic questions I wanted to know for my knowledge purpose.

Let me know if you are still confused.

Thank you

Ananya Priya

in your mail you have said that your focus is on understanding the
problems visually impaired face while reading and writing.
but many of your questions are not related to your focus.
for example

Have you missed any opportunities because of your blindness?

Do you think ATM's are completely accessible for visually impaired? *

How does it make you feel that you are visually impaired?

The third question is very strange and cannot be answered easily

I hope my comments are helpful

[AI] Audio and video account of ABBF's inclusive cycling expedition to the highest motorable pass of the world

2018-11-01 Thread Ekinath Khedekar
Hey guys,
I thought you might enjoy following audio and video records of our
Ladakh cycling expedition.
ABBF’s 4 minute impressive video of cycling expedition to Ladakh with
South African cricketing legend Jonty Rhodes offering his best wishes.
Watch a group of blind, cancer survivors, amputees and able-bodied
cyclists pedal together across five high altitude passes, rugged
terrain at 18,000 feet (Half the height where aeroplanes fly) and low
oxygen conditions, covering a whopping 550 kms in 10 days. Their goal?
To make the world a more inclusive and empathetic space.

And here’s the audio clip of my profile broadcasted on 26 October
2018. Hope you’ll enjoy it.

[AI] Gift Yourself A Barrier Free Travel Experience this Festive season <> Planet Abled

2018-11-01 Thread Planet Abled
Hello Everyone,

With the festival season approaching, so is the holiday season and hence
the travel season. So don't waste your holidays at home when you can travel
and explore new destinations and experiences and add an breathtaking
chapter to the book called life.

Why not Gift A Barrier Free travel experience this time to yourself or to
your loved ones? Or perhaps to someone who otherwise won’t be able to
afford it? What can be better than filling human hearts with intriguing
travel experiences which are accessible, inclusive and barrier free for all.

Whether its local city tours or authentic food trails, village getaways in
the hills or rafting in the Holy Ganges, learning how to ski in the snow in
Gulmarg or indulging in cultural or wellness immersions in Kerala, going
down the history lanes of Rajasthan or following the trail of Buddha from
birth to Nirvana in Bihar, witnessing the tigers in national parks or
trekking in the mountains, exploring new countries or sailing on a cruise
in the seas, we have got it all covered. One can travel solo, with family
or friends, go on a romantic getaway, travel as an institution or
organization or join a group tour to over 35 plus destinations across
India. Just drop us a hello to tra...@planetabled.com with your travel wish
and the Planet Abled genie would be happy to help you choose a memorable
travel gift.

Good News in Air Travel – Air travellers with disabilities would be
counted. In a landmark judgement by the American Government, domestic
airlines in America would be required to file monthly reports on the total
number of wheelchairs/ mobility scooters they carry as well as how many are
damaged in transit. Though right now its limited to domestic airlines in
the USA, its still a welcome move to count the number of travellers on
wheelchair and which airline is a better care taker of wheelchairs in
transit. I personally look forward to this being adopted by all countries
and all disabilities being counted so that everyone’s air travel experience
can be improved.

Upcoming Adventure tour – Last month we launched the Barrier Free Skiing
tour in Gulmarg in February 2019. We have received an amazing response and
look forward to change the way adventure travel happens in India. The trip
would be a great learning experience if you are wanting to pick up a new
sport to cater to your adrenaline rush. This trip is open for blind, deaf,
certain cases of amputees and people without disabilities*. Yes, being
inclusive is in our blood. :)

Register at planetabled.com/skiing

to
receive more details about this trip in your inbox. Because gifting
yourself a new adventure sport this festive season is not a bad idea after
all!

Until next time.

With smiles and gratitude,

Neha Arora

*P.S. - Thanks to all the people with reduced mobility for their patience.
We would bring skiing in India for them too, very soon.

Hello Siva Suresh,

You have confusion in the question, "Have you missed any opportunities
because of your blindness?" By this question I meant any opportunities
example: Professional Cricketer or Pilot etc. Anything particular thing you
wanted to do in your life but couldn't do it because of your visual
impairment.

I hope I am making my point clear, still if you face any problem feel free
to ask questions.

Thank you

Hi AnanyaPriya
thank you for your quick and prompt response. could you be a little
more specific regarding your question? "Have you missed any

Re: [AI] Questions regarding tax relaxations when buying a car

2018-11-01 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
I think in India, law makers themselves cannot understand laws they have made.

Anyway, at least you could get it.
Congrats.

Subject: Re: [AI] Questions regarding tax relaxations when buying a car

dear all

I have recently purchased a car for my own use. i am with left leg disability
due to polio. i am not much aware of things about visual impaired person buying
a car with concessions. however i got following the tax relaxations.
1. after the GST introduction, the excise duty relaxation is replaced with GST
concession. to avail the GST concession (10%) from 28% for normal people to 18%
for PWD you keed to apply to department of heavy industries.
in their website it is in detail guidelines are given how to get the concession.
2. 50% less premium for insurance
3. Road tax exemption ( it is available in Karnataka state, in Bangalore i have
availed this concession)

the point is to get GST concession they have mentioned (Link :
https://dhi.nic.in/writereaddata/UploadFile/guidlines_for_issue_of_GST_concession636610330602264535.PDF),
it is for persons with physical disabilities. similarly car means it has to
fulfill any of these requirements

a) Cars being able to be driven by the physically handicapped; or
b) Cars which has been suitably designed to be able to be driven by physically
handicapped; or
c) Cars meant for physically handicapped

which in most cases reflect car need to be driven by PWD. however they require
medical certificate as per the format in annexure B states that any of 4
following conditions the doctor need to give his certificate to avail the GST,
which is 1. His disability is such that he can use the car only with
assistance driver.
2.His disability is such that he can drive the car with automated
transmission only
3. His disability is such that he can drive any car (Manual as well as
Automated transmission) inspite of above mentioned disability 4. His
disability is such that he can drive the car provided car can be suitably
modified with necessary retrofitted device

i dont know but still you can enquire above the first point where you can get
medicate certificate to avail the GST concession, but again we need to enquire
about definition of car ( points) where VH person are fitting into it.
regarding GST concession, you can write a mail to under secretary to get
clarifications.

cheers
