Re: [AI] In which bank should I open a savings account?
Hi, Grats on your choice of HDFC Rishi, I guess I will open one account in HDFC too (flipkart amazon sales) lol someday, but for now kotak meets my needs just fine. its mobile app is a bit meh, but useable if you are willing to deal with its quirks. the website etc is totally accessible, though. 811 is specially good because you don't need to maintain a balance, that is its a 0 balance bank account with higher interest rates and all that jaz. once you finish KYC certain limits that are imposed are removed and you can use it without any limitations. One thing which I liked the most was to get a credit card the whole process was online via app or the website, and there was no interaction with any human! so the omg, blind guy credit card gasp, moment never came up and I was able to get one as anyone else would've, that is based on the mendated banking norms rather than any perseption of the bank manager staffer you are dealing with. hth, On Fri, 14 Dec 2018 at 22:47, Salim qureshi wrote: > yes, hdfc bank is superb in custamer services. i'm having my acount > from 15 years no problem at all > > On 12/14/18, Rishi Kewalramani wrote: > > Preferably one should choose a branch near his or her place. > > There are HDFC branches in every nook and corner of Bangalore. > > Mine is the Kalyan Nagar branch if that helps... > > Your friend can meet Ms. Anupriya or Mr. Arif in this Branch. > > But as I said Bangalore is a big place, and its better to choose one's > main > > branch in the area wich is easily reachable because there are some > > formalities that the bank requires you to go to one's branch where he or > > she > > has opened the account. > > Ofcourse for all other daily regular transactions, one can do it in any > > branch all over India. > > Since I stay in Kalyan Nagar, I opened my account here itself. > > So Kalyan Nagar branch becomes my headquarter main branch as far as my > > account is concerned. > > HTH > > > > -Original Message- > > From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On > Behalf > > Of shanka...@tech-accessibility.in > > Sent: 14 December 2018 07:59 PM > > To: 'AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues > concerning > > the disabled.' > > Subject: Re: [AI] In which bank should I open a savings account? > > > > Hi Rishi, > > Hope you are residing in bangalore. > > 1 of my friend is also willing to open an account from the hdfc bank. > > So, possible, could you please share the branch details, so that, he can > > also benefited the same. > > > > -Original Message- > > From: AccessIndia On Behalf Of > > Rishi Kewalramani > > Sent: Friday, December 14, 2018 6:54 PM > > To: 'AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues > concerning > > the disabled.' > > Subject: Re: [AI] In which bank should I open a savings account? > > > > They have 2 types. > > One is the basic one, which is 250 per annum And the other one is around > > 550 > > per annum with more facilities like more withdrawal amount per day etc. > > I'm a basic user, hence went with the basic one, that is, 250 per annum. > > HTH > > Rishi > > > > -Original Message- > > From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On > Behalf > > Of Harish Kapoor > > Sent: 14 December 2018 02:42 PM > > To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues > concerning > > the disabled. > > Subject: Re: [AI] In which bank should I open a savings account? > > > > Dear Rishi > > Have you asked HDFC bank about annual charges of their ATM/debit card? > > > > On 12/13/18, Rishi Kewalramani wrote: > >> A Big Big thank you to each one who replied to this thread- your > >> inputs were very informative indeed. > >> Weighing all the pros & cons, I finalized on HDFC. > >> Went to one of the branches near my home, and doing all the > >> formalities to open an account was a breeze. > >> The staff were very courteous and understanding and very helpful indeed. > >> Infact I forgot to carry my photo, and one of the managers drove me > >> home, collected my photo and went back to the bank. [AI] Son sued by disabled parents
This may be the trend Kanchan Disabled Ahmedabad couple sues son, who is now a sadhu, for 'compensation' - Times of India AHMEDABAD: A disabled couple has sought legal recourse after their elder son renounced the world and became a sadhu with a religious sect. Crushed at the prospect of losing their old age crutch to spirituality, father Lilabhai (64), a retired government servant and mother Bhikhiben (62), have taken legal recourse seeking monetary compensation in lieu of investing their life saving of Rs 20 lakh in son Dharmesh's (27) education. On Monday, the aged couple made their submission to Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA), a staterun legal aid centre, saying they have monetary obligations which is higher than Lilabhai's pension of Rs 30,000. "We are disabled. Our younger son does not have a steady job due to his mental condition. We rely on our elder son to fulfill his responsibility towards us. We believe he has been brainwashed when he says he does not want anything to do with us. We have first sought counselling as we harbour the hope of reconciliation," said Lilabhai. The physically handicapped couple residing in Ambawadi had pinned their hopes on elder son Dharmesh. Dharmesh was adamant about his choice Brilliant in academics, Dharmesh completed his masters in pharmacy from prestigious National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER). Parents were ensured of a comfortable retired life after Dharmesh landed a well paying job at a major pharmaceutical company. The joy soon turned into shock and despair when Dharmesh left home to join a religious sect in 2015. He embraced saffron and took diksha as a sadhu. Parents cried conspiracy and made efforts in vain to bring him back to the worldly life. Dharmesh remained adamant about his choice and devoted self in the sect's works. In August this year, the couple sought intervention of Gujarat State Legal Service Authority (GSLSA) to get some monetary help from their sadhu son claiming they had invested over Rs 20 lakh for his education hoping the son would look after them well in old age. Dharmesh, in his reply to legal counsellors, underscored that he has chosen to become a sadhu out of his own free will. He alleged his parents of mental harassment, accusing them of attempt to abduct him in a bid to deter him from his spiritual path. "Dharmesh told us that he is a sadhu now and does not have any monetary means to sustain his parents. He asked the parents instead to look at his younger brother for the sustenance," legal experts at GSLSA said. Counselors heard both sides and have sought a middle path. "We have asked both parties to pursue a middle path. We asked the sadhu son to find means to support his parents. Parents were counselled that they cannot hold a religious institution accountable for their son's choice or expect the return for what expense made after their son's education. Parents have been an option to move court for maintenance," GSLSA experts said. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. MCI likely to raise disability bar to 40% for medical aspirants - Times of India NEW DELHI: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has proposed to set a higher bar for disabled candidates seeking admission to under-graduate medical courses. In a recent public notice, it suggested setting minimum degree of disability at 40 per cent in order to avail reservation by persons with specified disability, whereas those with visual impairment and hearing impairment of less than 40 per cent may be eligible for the medical course but not for reservation. While the health ministry has called for public opinion on the issue, the medical fraternity and activists contend that the proposed guidelines violate the disability Act by not allowing individuals suffering from certain categories of disabilility to pursue the career of their choice. Earlier, in many categories such as for persons with learning disabilities, aspirants with less than 40 per cent disabilities were also allowed to avail reservations. Though the MCI has proposed the amendments to align its guidelines with the existing disability law, disability activists maintain that specific learning disabilities are not quantifiable and therefore, it may be unfair to set the benchmark so high. They also emphasize that while visual impairment like low vision and hearing impairment like hard of hearing are also disabilities, these categories must get the benefit of quota. The medical education regulator has also proposed changes to eligibility criteria for aspirants with locomotor disabilities. While the minimum bar of disability has been set at 40 per cent, the upper limit is 80 per cent. This means those below 40 per cent will not get quota and those beyond 80 per cent will be eligible with a rider for which the amendments have introduced a caveat for such candidates. "Persons with more than 80 per cent disability may also be allowed; but after their selection, their functional competency will be determined with the aid of assistive devices," the MCI notice said. The notification of the proposed changes in guidelines by MCI resulted in confusion among aspirants about their eligibility for physically handicapped quota, which is around 5 per cent of about 60,000 seats in 600-odd medical colleges across the country. Taking cognizance of concerns raised by medical aspirants with disabilities, the health ministry has asked the National Testing Agency and MCI to allow such aspirants to fill the application form for NEET-UG, 2019-20 on the basis of the draft guidelines posted on the website of the MCI. The last date of submission of NEET online form has also been extended from November 30 to December 7. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe.
