[AI] How self defence training helps blind girl in Mumbai
A 15-year-old visually-challenged girl got a man, who molested her on a local train, arrested. But, this was no plain arrest. 15-year-old visually-challenged girl got a man, who molested her on a Mumbai local train, arrested. But, this was no plain arrest. The child, trained in self-defence and karate, caught her molester's hand, and twisted it till he was forced down to his knees in pain. The Dadar GRP, which arrested the man, said the girl was on her way home with her father on Monday. They took the at 8.15pm fast train to Kalyan from Dadar. The girl and her 56-year-old father boarded the compartment reserved for differently-abled people. The accused, 24-year-old Vishal Baliram Singh, also boarded the compartment. He stood right behind the girl and began touching her, said Prasad Pandhare, senior police inspector, Dadar GRP. The girl did not panic. Instead, she turned around and twisted Singh's hand so hard, he screamed. This got the attention of other passengers . The girl confronted him and told her father he was touching her. "Until the train reached the next station, Matunga, the girl held Singh - much taller than she is - in a tight grip," said Pandhare. The officer said her technique was so perfect, Singh's fingers would have broken if she had not eased her grip soon enough. "She did not seem scared at all, and boldly told us to arrest Singh," Pandhare said. When the train reached Matunga station, the girl's father called GRP officers patrolling the platform and handed Singh over. Dadar GRP officers arrested Singh for molestation, travelling in the handicap compartment illegally and for travelling without a ticket. Singh, a computer maintenance technician for a private firm, and a resident of Mulund, has been remanded in police custody for two days. We are always easy targets for creeps like Singh," the girl said. "Our school teaches us self-defence and karate as part of our curriculum, so we can face the world despite our disability. I want the man to suffer, to ensure he does not repeat the act with any other 'easy target'," she said. Re: [AI] Chopping Vegetables
Hi Amar, Food processor of old models used to be time consuming. Even the sighted people used to feel so. but the ones available now in market are much better. I myself had postponed buying of a food processor for the same reason. But after some research, I bought Preethi Zodiac Food Processor last year. Believe me, It has been a boon. The assembling and dissembling processes are very easy. Just needs a little practice. I would really recommend it. Similar kinds are available in other brands too. But better go by the recommendations of those who are already using it rather than the sales persons in the shops. They hardly have any idea. Rahul- use mini choppers which are electric. Chopping board is indeed time consuming. The ones available are same in features and post chopping are easy to clean. Model I don’t know, but can check with mom. Even non-electric choppers are safe, the only care has to be taken is while cleaning the blade portion. Food processors I won’t recommend as cleaning is bit time consuming. Will check both choppers models and text you. Just remind me! Re: [AI] Chopping Vegetables
Hi You can use electric chopper that are easily available in the market. Though not with voice commands, these have very simple operating features and you can easily learn to use it with 2 or three uses. One more thing I would suggest is a food processor to fulfill your needs of chopping, shredding, slicing, juicing and kneading dough. Recently, NAB in collaboration with Big Bazaar had organised a workshop called "cooking without looking". It was convened by Payal Kapoor and Neha Agarwal in Hyderabad. You can go through their videos too. Regards, Kanchan Jain. Re: [AI] Chopping Vegetables
Dear Rahul To cut the vegetable i would suggest you to go to any student doing food and beverage courses and has speciality in kitchen. They would teach you different techniques and ways to cut vegetables. Also you will have to buy different knives to do your work easily. Please see you tube videos or seek some sighted assistance to learn from there. I am not a great fan of electric cutters. If you start accumulating all the electric appliance in kitchen then you will have no space to work.
