Re: [AI] Fwd: Please take back captcha from online.sbi.com it denies independent Net banking to visually impaired customers

2019-08-21 Thread Saravanan

Dear Friends,
Is there any improvement in our strategy.
Till today, there is no change in the web site.
Our efforts are waste.
Either they can remove capture or introduce audio capture.
Or they can provide basic arithmetic calculations.
I think, they are not ready to step up for us.
I kindly request you all to put effort on this issue.

Thanks

They could have added an extra layer of security instead of this obnoxious

They have 128 bit of SSL encryption so simple is that you cannot paste anything
in user name and password fields. How bots can access I'm wondering.

If the banks have introduced CAPTCHA for their security, as it's creating
problem for us, let us hope and ask them to provide some kind of alternative
like entering the OTP sent to our registered mobile number to varify it's us as
an alternative of entering the CAPTCHA text or just bring some kind of simple
math problem sort of challenge, where we could enter the calculated value
instead of the CAPTCHA hope this issue is taken seriously by the bank and
changed as soon as possible.
Today afternoon also, as I tried to log in to the Online SBI website,
encountered the same problem of captcha, I have also written a feedback mail to
them, let's wait and see what happens, hope it happens soon, as it's very
crutial that we have to get easy access that is, quick to log in and out when
we need, which has made us lot of independent.

this statement is only a security phobia, nothing more than that.
Google search page have no captcha and its being hit more than any
website in the world.

Hi,
Adding an Captcha need not necessarily deny access to visually
impaired users to banking services, as long as its accessible and
intuitive to use.
CAPTCHA's allow websites to combat Spam and robot trafic on their
website, which these days is a high security risk to not have.

so instead of asking that CAPTCHAs be removed entirely, ask them to
put in an alternative that works well, such as Googles CAPTCHA
version 2. that has a checkbox to check I am not a robot. as long as
you are logged into your google account, it'll verify you, or ask
you to fill in audio which tbh is decent Cheers,

not sure whether it is possible for a completely blind working lady to
make this dream true. Your achievement is giving me courage and
inspiration to give it a thought once more.
Wish you many more success like this in your way of life in future.

[AI] #TechThursdays - Kibo XS, world's 1st intelligent personalised scanning & reading companion

2019-08-21 Thread Ramya Venkitesh
#TechThursdays
 - Kibo XS, world's 1st intelligent
personalised scanning & reading companion

Fifty-seven million visually impaired people in India lack real-time access
to content as less than 1% of content is available in Braille. Trestle Labs,
an assistive technology company, is changing that for people with print and
learning disabilities. On #TechThursdays we profile their leading
innovation, Kibo XS.

For blind and low vision Indians, accessing content real-time is a major
challenge. Consider this. Less than 1% of reading material available in
Braille content, leaving them dependent on audio recordings. A 300-page book
takes nearly six weeks to be audio recorded and delivered.

When it comes to e-books in regional languages, the situation is worse as
the non-Unicode fonts make them inaccessible by screen readers.

Motorola one power has some accessibility issues specially in third

Very positive development indeed!
In the matter of special conveyance allowance to the PWD Bank
Employees, We the Visually Impaired Bank Employees Welfare Association
(VIBEWA) had written several letters and submitted representation to
Finance Ministry but there was no fruitful outcome.
Thus we decided to choose legal battle path Along with AICB Delhi, and
VIBEWA is a co-petitioner in this matter with all its expertise in

Subject: Important developments in our advocacy initiatives.

Dear all,

This is to share with you that 20th August, 2019 turned out be an important day
in advocacy work of AICB. On this day, three important matters filed by us were
listed in various high courts for hearing.

One of these was a very difficult case relating to the payment of inadequate
transport allowance to visually-impaired bank employees. Though on the earlier
dates of hearing, the Delhi High Court was in agreement with the issue, it
found it difficult to bring it under the corners of the legal provisions.
However, our lawyer Mr. Deepesh Aneja worked very hard on the matter trying to
find all possible ways to ensure that our petition succeeds. As a result, when
the case came up for hearing on 20th August, 2019, after a prolonged argument,
he was able to convince the Court about the validity of the issue.
Consequently, a High Court bench, headed by the Hon'ble Chief Justice, was
pleased to issue directions to the Union of India, stating that the specific
officer of the Ministry of Finance, responsible for taking a decision on the
representation for increase in transport allowance for PwD bank employees must
be personally present in the Court with instructions on Tuesday, 27th August,
2019. Failing to do so would invite action, the Court observed. When we filed
this matter in the High Court, we were somewhat uncertain but this direction by
the Hon'ble High Court has brought a strong ray of hope for the
visually-impaired bank employees with respect to the payment of transport
allowance.

Another ongoing matter of AICB, which was listed for further hearing on 20th
August 2019 in the Delhi High Court, pertained to the accessibility of currency
notes and coins. As you may be aware, this matter has been going on for some
time. Today we were able to achieve a major breakthrough with the High Court
agreeing with our contention that mobile app or a device is not the appropriate
method of making currency notes accessible and that it is the actual notes
which should be made accessible by certain distinctive marks. Our lawyer Mr.
Saurabh Banerjee who has been arguing this matter for us tells us that the
Hon'ble judge issued a 3 page order asking the Union of India and RBI to file a
comprehensive affidavit detailing steps they wish to take in this matter. As
you will agree that accessibility of notes and coins is a serious challenge for
the visually-impaired these days. But our advocacy interventions hope to bring
positive results soon.

Our third matter was in the Madras High Court where we had challenged the
non-implementation of reservation for PwD in aided Government colleges, which
are significant in number. Our Petition has been admitted and through it, we
hope to create several hundreds of jobs for the visually impaired in Tamil
Nadu. A sen

Hi
If you’re an iOS user, there’s an app called examine Clothes Color on the App
Store. I’m not sure if it’s also available for android. Anyway, here’s the
link:
Examine Clothes Color by MASAO MIYAKE
