[AI] Opportunity to share your perspective with the UN and Microsoft
Hi all, I will be participating in a panel next Friday organized by Microsoft and the Office of the UN Secretary General's Youth Envoy. The event seeks to bring together people from various diverse communities to share experiences from their communities during these uncertain times. I'd love to hear from you all about your experiences, both challenges as well as ways you might have figured out to get aroun these challenges that you might be facing. For instance, how has it been for those of you working from home? Are the tools accessible? Any other challenges you are facing? How about students? Any innovative solutions? Select experiences and stories will also be shared by the Youth Envoy on UN social media channels. We will also be organizing an informal community session on Tuesday at 8 PM to network and discuss challenges and brainstorm solutions collectively, and I'd love to invite you to join if you're available. Join the Zoom meeting at https://zoom.us/j/94241304126?pwd=MVZSS1dia1FmOHZoeHBFWXllRDJJZz09. On a side note, we at I-Stem are working to plan our initiatives for this year, and are looking to talk to students and professionals with disabilities (irrespective of the sector of job). If you have some time, we'd love to chat with you. Please reach out to Shakul at sha...@inclusivestem.org to schedule some time for us to chat. Thanks and stay safe. Re: [AI] Strange behaviour of talkback
For the 1st issue where it speaks the punctuation mark, you need to turn off Number Processing in Google TTS settings. To do so: 1. Open Talkback's Local Context Menu by swiping Down followed by Right. 2. Select TTS Settings from the Local Context Menu. 3. Set Google TTS as the preferred engine (you need to change this temporarily if you prefer to use other TTS as a default TTS). 4. Tap the Settings button to the right of the Preferred Engine option. 5. Navigate to the Number Processing option and turn it off. 6. Navigate back and switch to your preferred TTS (only if you use other TTS as a default). I have done this and gotten rid of unnecessary punctuation marks. Hope it helps you too. For the 2nd issue, haven't found any such option to customize what it speaks when Power key is pressed. On my Samsung J7 Pro, it speaks the current time followed by an unrequired instruction to unlock the device. Re: [AI] Strange behaviour of talkback
Well, probably I can provide a small suggestion regarding talkback announcing extra punctuation marks between numbers while announcing time and other things. First if you are using google TTS for english, set it as default TTS only for a while, then, tap on, Settings button located beside the TTS, in there is a a fifth option, number processing, if the switch is on, tap on it and turn it off, then, check weather it will stop announcing extra punctuations between numbers and in other situations, now set the TTS which you were using. Hope this helps. Regarding the issue of Talkback announcing the name of the two networks along with the time when screen is turned on, I'm also facing the same issue, hope to find any fix soon. Hope this helps thanks. On 4/19/20, Keshav Kumar wrote: > Hello all! > > I am writing in this mailing list, after almost 5 - 6 years. Re: [AI] Regarding talkback query
Hi, if your query is to export the labels that you have labelled in your handset so as to have it as a backup or to import to your newerphone then, Go to settings, accessibility, Talkback and tab into settings there. Now yyou will find a list of settings scroll down to custom label and tab into it. You will find the option to import as well as to export there. Just tab on export to get your custom labels downloaded to your phone's storage and then save it anywhere either you can mail it or save it in your drive and get it back into your new phone's storage and do the same to 'import' it to your new phone. Hope I have explained and would be of use... [AI] Fw: Ayurveda for boosting immunity
- Original Message - From: Shuchita shah To: Gajendra Vyas ; Juhi Vyas ; Nikunj Dalal ; sujata ; Sunita Joshi ; sandip ; Shuchita shah Sent: Sunday, April 19, 2020 2:37 AM Subject: Ayurveda for boosting immunity Gajendrajijaji, here is the main points from that link that you mentioned. Useful so sending to all of you. “Maintaining hygiene is the best way to prevent infections from entering the body. Wash hands often with soap and water, use sanitizers, cover nose while sneezing, and avoid visiting busy and crowded places. Performing agnihotra/ yagya or burning havan samagri (a mixture of herbs) keeps home and the environment free from germs,” said Dr Partap Chauhan, Here are some general measures listed in the PIB advisory: 1. Drink warm water throughout the day. 2. Daily practice of Yogasana, Pranayama and meditation for at least 30 minutes. 3. Spices like haldi (turmeric), zeera (cumin), dhaniya (coriander) and lahsun (garlic) are recommended in cooking. Ayurvedic immunity promoting measures in PIB advisory 1. Take Chyawanprash 10gm (1tsp) in the morning. Diabetics should take sugar-free Chyawanprash. “Strong immunity is necessary to fight any kind of foreign body or disease. Eating a tablespoonful of Chywanprash daily enhances the immunity, specifically that of lungs and respiratory system. Amalaki or Amala (Emblica officinalis), Guduchi/Glioy (Tinaspora cordifolia), Neem (Azadirachta indica), Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa), Tulsi (holy basil) are some of the Ayurvedic herbs that help build the immunity and prevent the infection , added Dr Chauhan. 2. Drink herbal tea or decoction (kadha) made from tulsi (basil), dalchini (cardamom), kalimirch (black pepper), shunthi (Dry Ginger) and munakka (Raisin) – once or twice a day. Add jaggery (natural sugar) and or fresh lemon juice to your taste, if needed. 3. Golden Milk- Half teaspoon haldi (turmeric) powder in 150 ml hot milk once or twice a day. “In Ayurveda, good digestion or strong digestive fire plays a very important role in fighting diseases. Eating a piece of fresh ginger, drinking ginger tea, mint tea, cinnamon tea and fennel tea is also good”, Dr Chauhan recommended along with a recipe for the tea. * Take one litre water and set it to boil. * Add a teaspoonful of fennel, cumin, coriander powder and freshly grated ginger. * After boiling it for four to five minutes filter it in a thermos and drink throughout the day. PIB advisory lists following measures for dry cough / sore throat 1. Steam inhalation with fresh Pudina (Mint) leaves or Ajwain (Caraway seeds) can be practised once in a day. 2. Lavang (Clove) powder mixed with natural sugar/honey can be taken two to three times a day in case of cough or throat irritation. 3. These measures generally treat normal dry cough and sore throat. However, it is best to consult doctors if these symptoms persist. “Citrus fruits like orange, grapefruit, lemon are a rich source of vitamin C and are good to consume. Add the juice of a half lemon to a cup of lukewarm water and drink 2-3 times a day. Drinking warm water and keeping hydrated is very beneficial”, added Dr Chauhan.
