Objective
The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the
differently-abled students to enable them to pursue professional or
technical courses from recognized institutes and get
employed/self-employed.
Differently-abled students face several barriers physical, financial,
psychological, mental in pursuing studies and living with dignity. At
times such students are deprived of harnessing their talent, skills
and thereby miss the opportunity to earn their livelihood and find a
dignified place for themselves in the society. This scheme envisages
encouraging differenly-abled students by providing scholarships and
other assistance to pursue professional or technical courses and
various skill development courses for their empowerment.
The following benefits will be available under the scheme:-
Non-refundable fees shall be fully awarded in case of
Government/Government-aided institution. In case of private Institutes
the reimbursement would be restricted to similar courses in
Government-aided institutions.
Maintenance Allowance will be paid to the students for a period of 10
months only in
one academic year at following rates.
Professional Graduate Courses: Rs. 2500/- per month (Maintenance Allowance)
Rs. 6000/- per annum (Book/Stationery allowance)
Professional Post-Graduate courses: Rs. 3000/- per month (Maintenance Allowance)
Rs. 1/- per annum (Book/Stationery allowance)
Along with the application, the following enclosures will have to be furnished:
Academic record-attested copies of relevant certificates/mark sheets
for the qualifying examination
Proof of annual income – Proof of income shall include last
Proof of annual income - Proof of income shall include last salary
slip of parent/guardian, acknowledgement of income tax/income
certificate e from revenue official/gazetted officer/public
representative e.g. MP, MLA, MLC, Panchayat officials etc.
Attested copy of Disability certificate
Course fee receipt if any, duly paid during the academic session;
Receipt/Invoice of eligible assistive devices duly countersigned by
the authorized signatory of the institution
Attested copy of Aadhar Card
Prepare the following files to upload at the time of filling of the
application form.
Disability certificate should be in pdf, doc format having file size
not more than 100 kb.
Current Year Paid Fee Receipt should be in pdf, doc format having file
size not more than 100 kb.
Candidate Photo should be in jpg,bmp,png format having file size not
more than 50 kb.
Cancel cheque Or Copy of passbook should be in pdf, doc format having
file size not more than 100 kb..
In case of Renewal Form.
Marksheet of previous year (In case of semester system, enclose
marksheet of two semester in one pdf Upto 100kb)
 In case of continuation of scholarship in a succeeding year, a copy
of the mark sheet of the preceding year.

Exam scribes for disabled: Government seeks inputs.
NEW DELHI: In keeping with the Supreme Court’s directives for
conducting written examination for persons having less than 40%
disability or persons having medical condition that may restrict their
writing capacity, the department of empowerment of persons with
disabilities has come out with a public notice seeking suggestions and
comments till June 1 on its draft guidelines.
The Supreme Court in its order dated February 11 directed DEPwD of the
ministry of social justice and empowerment to formulate norms after
public consultation. Although the government has norms for those with
disability of 40% and above, SC has sought the same for less than 40%
disability where the nature of disability poses a barrier to the
candidate in writing an examination. It also sought that these
guidelines should also prescribe appropriate norms to ensure that
condition of the candidate is duly certified by such competent medical
authority as may be prescribed so as to ensure that only genuine
candidates in need of the facility are able to avail it.
The department has developed draft guidelines on the basis of the
recommendation of a committee headed by secretary, DEPwD. They provide
criteria for availing the facility for scribe/compensatory time for
such candidates while taking written examination, including
composition of the medical authority for certifying requirement of
scribe.

Hi,

You need to enable caps lock key as NVDA modifier key. This option can
be found in the welcome dialogue that pops up immediately after NVDA
is installed, or in the Keyboard settings of NVDA.

[AI] NVDA key issue.

Hello all,

Greetings of the day!
Friends, I have installed NVDA just in my HP laptop. NVDA successfully
installed but, there is an issue with NVDA key. Caps lock key is not
working as an insert key with NVDA. When I use jaws, caps lock key
work properly. Don’t know what happened with NVDA. I have uninstall
and install NVDA again and again. but, no luck.

[AI] BGFI’s Course on Business Writing Etiquettes

Most of us are good at communicating verbally, but when it comes to
official written communication, we all face challenges. Do you face
difficulty while putting into words what you really want to communicate?
Are you unsure of which punctuations to be used and where? Are there times
when you feel uncertain about writing an email to a senior manager?

We have all been in that place at some point in time- maybe knowing what to
do but not HOW to go about doing it. But there’s nothing to fear when BGFI
is here!

The Blind Graduates Forum of India is beginning an online training course
on business writing etiquettes. This would include all the basics of living
and acting as a professional such as writing of formal emails, correct use
of punctuation, among others. The course will consist of practical
assignments and yes, lot many fun-filled activities.

The course will tentatively start from Saturday, 5th June 2020.  These
classes will be conducted over the weekends, tentatively in the second half
of the day, depending on registrations.

The online course will be conducted by the incredible Mr. Krishna Warrier.

Mr. Warrier has over 30 years of experience in Journalism and
Communications Skills. He has held senior editorial positions in the likes
of Reader's Digest, Hindustan Times, the Mid-day, and the Centre for
Monitoring the Indian Economy (CMIE). He has trained students in various
facets of communication at institutions like the IITB-Monash Research
Academy (IIT Bombay), St Xavier's College, Sophia College, KC College,
Wilson College, the Xavier’s Institute of Communications, among others.
Additionally, he has held training and sensitization workshops all over
India for corporates like IBM, Hindustan Unilever, BNY Mellon, Sanofi,
Deloitte, etc. Besides these, his other passions include trekking and table
tennis.
