Re: [AI] A useful addition to Talkback 12.1!

2021-11-16 Thread Sandesh

This setting is for Gboard only.
Those loving double tap to type were using Blind Accessibility keyboard for
years, sadly this great keyboard is not further updated by the developer.
one thing is there, this is talkback specific feature, as soon as you change
the screen reader for example start using commentary, this feature does not
work, meaning your Gboard starts working with lift and type mode.

And when back with talkback, your set feature comes again.

And yes, Thanks for sharing of course.

Hi,

Many of us using non Samsung phones have been admiring the touch and
double tap to type feature of the Samsung keyboard on their phones for
years! That changes with TB 12.1! You can now activate this feature on
almost any android phone running the mentioned version of the TB.

Steps: Open the TB settings from the TB menu (Swipe up then
right),navigate to Advanced settings and then to "Typing Preference".
You'll find two options: Hold finger to select key, then double tap and
second, Hold finger to select key, then lift. The second one is activated
by default. I've tried it on my Oneplus 8 running Oxygen 11.0.9.9 based on
Android 11 and it is working fine. I prefer the standard method though,
but that's the personal choice

Enjoy!

Best,

Satguru.

aware of any such feature on my phone! There is one addition related to this
though which is known as "Automatic captioning of unlabled images containing
text" but I can't find it anywhere in the talkback settings! but then may be,
it only pops up when there is an unlabled image with text.

Hope to learn more on this.

Best,

Satguru.

Before Samsung was one of the good accessible phone. But now they are
not at all concentrating the accessibility factors. Recently I got an
opportunity to explore Samsung latest 5G A52 phone. And in this I
noticed several issues like during call talkback speak very loud and
we cannot even reduce the talk back volume in the call. The only thing
we have to do is to mute talk back during call. This apart back button
on the right bottom was not that much responsive. In YouTube when we
play some Video by mistake if our finger touches the percentage slide
area talk back simply speak continuously the percentage of the Video.

2021-11-16 Thread Vikas Kapoor
In Android 11, the Samsung screen reader is also called Talkback, the version
may differ from the regular Talkback though. The most pathetic aspect of the
Samsung phones running Android 11 is that they can no longer run the Google
Accessibility Suite on their phones, one can install it but cannot run, the
Samsung accessibility takes over that. I suppose one should have freedom to use
any one of them.

Re: [AI] A useful addition to Talkback 12.1!

2021-11-16 Thread Sandesh

Namaskar Vikas and all!

There seems confusion here.
the feature you are talking is not talkback feature, rather it's Select to
Speak one. And now, it's part of Android Accessibility package. both Select
to Speak and Talkback are parts of Android Accessibility suite.

In google's words, "Android Accessibility Suite is a collection of
accessibility apps that help you use your Android device eyes-free or with a
switch device.

Android Accessibility Suite includes:
• Accessibility Menu: Use this large on-screen menu to lock your phone,
control volume and brightness, take screenshots, and more.

• Select to Speak: Select items on your screen and hear them read aloud.
• Switch Access: Interact with your Android device using one or more
switches or a keyboard instead of the touch screen - **newly added** Camera
Switches to navigate with facial gestures.
• TalkBack screen reader: Get spoken feedback, control your device with
gestures, and type with the on-screen braille keyboard".

I hope, confusion is clear now.

Still, I am pasting here relevant part of Google help article on using
Select to Speak for OCR purpose with it's URL:

[AI] Regarding Railway Photo ID

2021-11-16 Thread Ravi Paul
Hi all,
Hope you're all doing well.
I have a query regarding the captioned subject. Thing is, I'm trying
to book railway ticket using my photo ID to no avail. So a couple of
questions:
1) I was reading that the railway ID is of 11 numbers. Is it so? And
if yes, is it only numeric or is it, in fact, alphanumeric?
2) whenever I enter my escort's PAN, it says maximum 9 characters.
Could someone guide me as to what could be going wrong?
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Ravi

Re: [AI] Regarding Railway Photo ID

2021-11-16 Thread faizal K A
Hi,

Railway ID card will have 12-digit ID card number. And it will be the
combination of alpha numeric. Like in Kerala it starts with SRTVC
followed by 7-digit unique number. Here the third, fourth and fifth
digit will be the railway DRM office station code. In this case it is
TVC which is Trivandrum. Similarly, in Bangalore it is SWSBC and
followed by 7-digit numbers. And in Chennai it is SRMAS followed by
7-digit number.

Regarding your 2nd question try to change Aadhar or some other ID
instead of PAN and see whether it work.

Hi faizal,
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. It's very helpful.
My recollection is that I did try other ID proofs but with similar
results; but I'll try again, and we'll see.
Thanks again.

I believe in case of escort we have to enter the disability id card
number as it is our identity that needs to be verified . i usually
enter my disability id card number in escort too and it used to work

Re: [AI] A useful addition to Talkback 12.1!

2021-11-16 Thread Satguru Rathi
The new talkback has been co-developed by Samsung and Google! That's why
some of the features are exclusive to Pixel and Samsung users such as
ability to use multi-finger gestures! The partnership is growing rapidly
and is visible in the Galaxy Watch 4 as well! I for one am positive for
the development to the accessibility if these two companies come
together but disappointed on their partial behavior towards other OEMs
such as Oneplus and likes. Like any Samsung user, I too, am running the
Android 11 but can't use the multi-finger gestures being a non-Samsung
or non-pixel user.

Cheers.

Satguru.

In Android 11, the Samsung screen reader is also called Talkback, the
version may differ from the regular Talkback though. The most pathetic
aspect of the Samsung phones running Android 11 is that they can no
longer run the Google Accessibility Suite on their phones, one can
install it but cannot run, the Samsung accessibility takes over that.
I suppose one should have freedom to use any one of them.

What about that? is it more powerful than talkback?

Exactly!
I also use Poco phone with Android 11.
no multifinger gestures are available here. Same is there with Realme phones

The new talkback has been co-developed by Samsung and Google! That's why some
of the features are exclusive to Pixel and Samsung users such as ability to use
multi-finger gestures! The partnership is growing rapidly and is visible in the
Galaxy Watch 4 as well! I for one am positive for the development to the
accessibility if these two companies come together but disappointed on their
partial behavior towards other OEMs such as Oneplus and likes. Like any Samsung
user, I too, am running the Android 11 but can't use the multi-finger gestures
being a non-Samsung or non-pixel user.

  Cheers.

  Satguru.

In Android 11, the Samsung screen reader is also called Talkback, the
version may differ from the regular Talkback though. The most pathetic aspect
of the Samsung phones running Android 11 is that they can no longer run the
Google Accessibility Suite on their phones, one can install it but cannot run,
the Samsung accessibility takes over that. I suppose one should have freedom to
use any one of them.

Samsung phone comes with its own screen reader is voice assistance. What
about that? is it more powerful than talkback?

we cannot even reduce the talk back volume in the call. The only thing
we have to do is to mute talk back during call. This apart back button

Re: [AI] Regarding Railway Photo ID

2021-11-16 Thread faizal K A
There is no need of disability ID card while booking ticket with
escort. Just we need to select one of the ID options from the drop
down and enter that particular ID number of Escort. I use escort Adhar
as ID and it work. Even 1 month back also I booked ticket with escort
in the same way.
