[AI] Regarding TalkBack in TCL Android TV

2021-11-21 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
Dear listers,
I've got an Android Smart TV from TCL. It has TalkBack installed, and
once it is turned, the TV is reasonably accessible. However, the
difficulty is that there is no independent way to turn TalkBack on. No
shortcuts. Couldn't find any option to enable accessibility shortcut.
The combination of volume up and down keys not working either. So each
time, one would need sighted help to turn TalkBack on to actually
access the TV.
Any solutions? Any way to activate TalkBack through some shortcut on
the remote? Can Google Assistant be configured to activate TalkBack
on voice command?
Anyone have experience of using a TCL Android SmartTV with TalkBack?
Regards,

Re: [AI] Regarding iPad and its Accessibility

2021-11-21 Thread 'Manoj Pai' via AccessIndia
All modes of recent iPad Air and iPad Pro are fully accessible. You can use
Siri for commands. Various other apps are available for Voice Over Screen
Readers besides others.
You need to get an an ipad with both Wifi and Cellular based one to avail
calling facilities. You can connect Airpod for hands free voice communications.
Some Data Carriers also allow voice over LTE.
Most Apple Authorized stores are accessible for divyangs. Maybe you might like
to visit some of them like iPearl, Unicorn, iVenus etc. Trained sales persons
will guide you. You might like to make a call at the store before you visit. It
is quite likely that some of them may even visit you, at a place of your
choice, like they did for a friend I know. Go for a model what you can use with
ease.
Apple offers discounts to Students and Teachers.
Best wishes
Manoj

Hi Saravanan,
Java access bridge is required to use any UI that's developed using Java. You
can enable Java access bridge from Window's ease of access center. You must
have JDK installed before that.

Eclipse is largely accessible and does not require JAB to be enabled. I've not
used PyCharm. If you are not already on Program-L mailing list, I would suggest
that you join it. You may get much more first-hand information there.
