Re: [AI] KYC for banking facilities for the blind

2022-03-20 Thread Amar Jain
Whilst it is true that they verify the document by clicking the
photograph, but do note that they also verify the signature from your
PAN records which is accessible to banking companies from the ITD
directly.

Further, their CBS softwares are capable of handleing different
signature patterns and detect counterfeiting if any. That is how in fact
cheques are also authenticated for signatures in CTS.

Legally they are not wrong in requesting customer for physical KYC due
to usage of biometrics i.e. thumb impression.

This is what I was told by both Standard Chartered and American
Express. So its not really about the signature, as the application is
anyways taken online. So, ICICI shouldn't create much fuss really. You
should surely not let it go, fight it out, they do have processes to
get cards issued to blind person, just that most people dealing with
it aren't aware of the same.

2022-03-20 Thread Amiyo Biswas
Hello Murali,

I find remembering so many keystrokes very difficult. I did one thing when I
started using computer and you can do it, too.

When you are using an application, press the key combination insert+h for jaws
commands useful for that application.

For windows keystrokes for the same application, use insert+w.

If you want to check for jaws command at any time, press insert+spacebar,
followed by j. It will bring up the jaws command search window. Simply type in
the query and you may find what you want.

With best regards,
Amiyo Biswas

Subject: [AI] Life Beyond Sight – An initiative to spread Awareness
regarding Assistive Technologies for Low Vision/ Blind persons

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings of the Day

Background

With Technological advancements, blind / low vision persons can not only
lead a normal life but an extraordinary one. Use of assistive
Technologies enhances quality of life and independent living among blind/low
vision people. However, still many blind low vision people struggles to
lead a normal life due to lack of awareness regarding assistive
technologies and even sometimes strives for survival as right
information doesnt  reach to them at right time. As a result, they
loose the most crucial time of their life sitting idol which infact
they could have made use of for building their career.

Considering awareness issues and challenges faced by low vision/blind
person, we , a group of friends, have initiated awareness program  for
spreading awareness regarding use of assistive technologies by low vision
/blind persons

Objective

Our idea is to spread awareness through self explanatory document bearing
title LIFE BEYOND SIGHT,  and a series of audios containing useful and
relevant information regarding various assistive devices. For this, we are
sharing the mentioned document and audios  with various eye hospitals /eye
specialists/ blind schools/  blind as well as sighted community  so
that such information can reach  to many  low vision/blind
patients in time.

Request

Hence, we request you to support us on our endeavor by sharing
the document and audios  with low vision/blind people , Please feel free
to use/reproduce these materials in any suitable manner for instance, can
put in display , distributions as pamphlets etc.

Enclosure

1.      PDF Document – LIFE BEYOND SIGHT English Version
2.      PDF Document – LIFE BEYOND SIGHT Hindi Version
3.      Audio Series - Google Drive link
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1xkWzfZPU4Jjm2GMNzFujREEfYyotUKga

We highly appreciate your valuable feedback and positive response .

Re: [AI] KYC for banking facilities for the blind

2022-03-20 Thread Amar Jain
Bharat-authenticating thumb impression on a video kyc is not possible.

CEO or nodal officer or compliance officer can correct the situation before it
gets escalated.

Letting RBI know only helps from the perspective of data collection perspective.

I generally wonder, how are people who put their signature instead of
a thumb impression are more reliable & trustworthy. Even the blind
people, if they can't vouch for their own signature, which most of
them cannot, how & why are they should be taken at the face value?

The entire world seems to be against those who don't sign but use
their thumb impression to authenticate themselves.

 Dear Customer,

 Greetings from ICICI Bank.

Hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.

We sincerely regret for the delay in response and inconvenience
 caused
 to
 you.

Based on our record your application is not eligible for video KYC.

In case you wish to do video KYC, we suggest cancelling the
application and applying again. You can opt for Video KYC in the
 new
 application.

However, please be informed that the cancellation request will take
 7
working days to get processed and the application will be de-linked
 in
 another 7 working days.

Hence you can apply again only post 14 working days. Please revert
back to us with your confirmation and we shall raise a request for
 cancellation.

Please be informed that due to RBI guidelines, Physical KYC is
permanently closed. You can only apply through Video KYC if Aadhaar
linked with your mobile number and complete address updated in your
 Aadhaar.

Bharat-very interesting!

I Did apply but when they said that follow physical process, I left it.

One advice I would have given was to write to the CEO and then approach RBI.
But since you have already filed, then let’s wait.

Amar Jain

Probably internally they might have discontinued physical KYC and please

sharing the mentioned document and audios with various eye hospitals /eye
specialists/ blind schools/ blind as well as sighted community so
that such information can reach to many low vision/blind
patients in time.

Request

Hence, we request you to support us on our endeavor by sharing
the document and audios with low vision/blind people , Please feel free
to use/reproduce these materials in any suitable manner for instance, can
put in display , distributions as pamphlets etc.

Enclosure

Re: [AI] KYC for banking facilities for the blind

2022-03-20 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
In the mean time, you can also use ICICI's social media pages to
highlight the issue. Post comments to some of their posts, then send a
private message detailing the issue. Also, keep the channels opened
with the higher authorities in the bank, the nodal officer, principal
nodal officer, and also try finding out the CEO desk mail ID and let
them know about the issue. Based on my experience, the people at the
higher levels at ICICI, seem to be more sensitive and sensible.

Re: [AI] KYC for banking facilities for the blind

2022-03-20 Thread Bharat
I have finally gone ahead & complained to RBI regarding this. Although
I couldn't manage to save my complaint copy due to some confusion. I
tried to reach out to their futher complaint authorities but all the
time i Kept getting a message saying this particular complaint
doesn't belong to their queue.

Lets see, what does ICICI bank say about it.

Thank you once again to everyone for their guidance in this regard. I
would get back to you with what happens in this regard.

 Dear Customer,

 Greetings from ICICI Bank.

Hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.

We sincerely regret for the delay in response and inconvenience caused
 to
 you.

Based on our record your application is not eligible for video KYC.

In case you wish to do video KYC, we suggest cancelling the
application and applying again. You can opt for Video KYC in the new
 application.

However, please be informed that the cancellation request will take 7
working days to get processed and the application will be de-linked in
 another 7 working days.

Hence you can apply again only post 14 working days. Please revert
back to us with your confirmation and we shall raise a request for
 cancellation.

Please be informed that due to RBI guidelines, Physical KYC is
permanently closed. You can only apply through Video KYC if Aadhaar

Looking forward to more opportunities to be of service to you
