[AI] Book Announcement!

2022-04-28 Thread NAB Delhi Helpline
The digital library, National Association for the blind Delhi supported by
Spirotech, is delighted to announce the availability of the book ‘Yuganta
The end of an epoch’ By ‘Irawati Karve’
Yuganta studies the principal, mythical-heroic figures of the Mahabharata
from historical, anthropological and secular perspectives. The usually
venerated characters of this ancient Indian epic are here subjected to a
rational enquiry that places them in context, unravels their hopes and
fears, and imbues them with wholly human motives, thereby making their
stories relevant and astonishing to contemporary readers.

Irawati Karve, thus, presents a delightful collection of essays, scientific
in spirit, yet appreciative of the literary tradition of the Mahabharata.
She challenges the familiar and formulates refreshingly new
interpretations, all the while refusing to judge harshly or venerate
blindly.
The recording of this book has been specially made for our visually
impaired friends in an audio accessible format. To access the book, please
register on Sugamya Pushtakalaya, the online library. Membership of Sugamya

RE: [AI] as a totally blind person How do you overcome rat fear

2022-04-28 Thread 'PAUL MUDDHA' via AccessIndia
Agree with George sir..
I run a hostel for the vi students believe mi or not each minimum 10 rats we
chase or kill or die with the medicine that is place in different parts of the
building.. It is because of the food which is sprayed or not being clean and
more because of the drainage next to the building.
Infact huge rats weighing almost a kilo..
Now I have spent almost 3 lakhs to clean up the entire premises and drainage
with new pipes rats are struggling to enter the building.
Now hardly one or two rats run outside our building as they can't enter the
premises..
Cheers

Not sure how helpful it is. In my experience if the flat is clean, uncluttered
and not littered with food items etc. rats normally stay away. Also ground
floor flats tend to be more vulnerable to rat visits. These are a few general
tips but no guarantee.

Hi sir, I appreciate your doubt, if one or two rats are troubling you and u
want to get rid of it sticky pads are recommended, but day by day number of

There is no diversity ande inclusion team in ICICI. Anupam Sir is my reporting
authority, I already told him everything. But his schedule is quite busy. One
of the senior manager called me today and said to adjustthings will be fine
eventually.

Whom should I explain, GIFT City won't get public transport infrastructure in a
night. I am incurring huge expenses just out of my pocket to reach my work
place. Mostly people try to cheat, take undue advantage by charging high and
only a few are genuine. There is no meaning to work and suffer more for basic
necessities like transport and medical. With so much of expenses just on
transportation and added physical and mental distress, I may not be able to
keep my mental peace intact for a long and may go in severe depression soon.

RE: [AI] as a totally blind person How do you overcome rat fear

2022-04-28 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi Minar,

The first thing to do is to acknowledge your fear. You appear to have done that
therefore you can now move forward and reach a stage where you can work
rationally.

Other list members have given you a description. I have had a rat run over my
foot. I felt a blunt set of things running over my foot and it was gone.

As for touching a rat, much depends on where you touch it. It is unlikely you
will grab the rat's mouth. Irrespective of where you touch it, the idea is to
get yourself oriented really quickly. Keep its mouth away from your body hence
grabbing the tail may be a workable option.

Seriously though, get pest control and sort out the problem.

Keeping windows shut all the time is not practical. I have had rats come in
through a window air conditioner. I am not sure if it was hiding in the machine
to begin with or it came in from the outside portion and then dropped into my
dustbin and then from there, jumped into my room. Your ears give you quite a
lot of information about its movements.

I am going down memory lane. I have had a rat bite me once. Remember, you are
way bigger and significantly more powerful as compared to the rat. I felt the
impact of teeth on my fingers and immediately drew my hand back. The bite did
not break the skin therefore nothing happened. I am typing with the same
fingers until today.

One last thing, look for a rat soft toy, this is one way for you to feel the
shape of this creature and other animals as well in a safe way.

RE: [AI] as a totally blind person How do you overcome rat fear

2022-04-28 Thread Dr. R S Chauhan
Friends, Initially, I had certainly no intention to react on the issue. But, now I feel compelled. To my mind, rats are not such hugely dangerous animals except during a particular disease. Hence, no need to fear them as some of the people do. We can handle them by rat traps, rat killing substances, having a cat for some time or for an extended period, say, one month or two plus the views already given. I wonder whether I am bolder or our friends unnecessarily too much timid and fearful. It is for you to decide.  Dr. R. S. Re: [AI] Seeking Advice

2022-04-28 Thread Sachin Mishra
There is no diversity ande inclusion team in ICICI. Anupam Sir is my
reporting authority, I already told him everything. But his schedule is
quite busy. One of the senior manager called me today and said to
adjustthings will be fine eventually.

Whom should I explain, GIFT City won't get public transport infrastructure
in a night. I am incurring huge expenses just out of my pocket to reach my
work place. Mostly people try to cheat, take undue advantage by charging
high and only a few are genuine. There is no meaning to work and suffer
more for basic necessities like transport and medical. With so much of
expenses just on transportation and added physical and mental distress, I
may not be able to keep my mental peace intact for a long and may go in
severe depression soon.

In addition to Minar's suggestion I would also recommend reaching out to
Diversity & Inclusion team for support, they should be able to advocate.

ICICI also has a person leading the GIFT city initiative, Anupam Verma if I
am not wrong, you can try pinging the person too.

are going to hold a rat in your palm beware of its long nails, it would run
and scratch.

Best to hold it using its long tail.

try to find contact details of higher authorities such as bank
CEO/managing director. have you connected with your HR head? HR head
is the most senior HR in HR ranking. You should be able to find out
higher authorities contact details through internal portal dedicated

RE: [AI] as a totally blind person How do you overcome rat fear

2022-04-28 Thread George Abraham
Not sure how helpful it is. In my experience if the flat is clean, uncluttered
and not littered with food items etc. rats normally stay away. Also ground
floor flats tend to be more vulnerable to rat visits. These are a few general
tips but no guarantee.

Re: [AI] India's First Radio Channel For Visually-Impaired People 'Radio Aksh' Launched

2022-04-28 Thread Sandesh
Absolutely bad, not expected such thing from Saksham (Samadrushti Kshamata
Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal). and that bad is becoming worse and worst
because no clarification is yet heard from the organisation.
And lastly, Saksham has made fun of itself since almost everybody in the
comunity for which this so-called Radio channel/station is launched knows
that it's blatant lie.

I can't say much!

Dear Team Radio Aksh,
At the outset, let us congratulate you on the launch of your Internet
radio. We whole-heartedly appreciate your efforts and the noble
intentions behind them.
Our joy knew no bounds when we read about your venture in the print
media. There however, was something that did not make any sense to our
ignorant minds. I say ‘Ignorant’ because, we could not accept
something which some people, and the majority of media not only
accepted, but also was effusive in its praise.
It may sound very silly to highly intellectual minds like you, but
please help, as we are at our wit’s end. This is the thought that has
completely flummoxed our minds.
Our radio, that is Radio Udaan, which has been a constant presence in
the Disability community since 2014, Radio Udaan, which through its
unparalleled success found its name in India book of Records, Radio
Udaan, which is heard in over 130 countries, Radio Udaan, which has
empowered over Thousands disabled people over the past eight years, is
not the first internet radio for the blind, but Radio Aksh is?
We are hurt beyond words as we recall that many members of
Samdrushti Kshamata Vikas Avam Anusandhan
Mandal (Saksham) … have been on our shows more than once, and yet have
the guts and gumption to claim Aksh to be the first Internet radio for
the blind.
Some of the blame should be taken by the media as well, as some of
them have covered our events in the past, and yet, without even
realising what they are printing, they have published the story of
Radio Aksh. We wonder whether journalism has given up on one of its
foremost principles called ‘Research’.
The claim of being the first, which is doing rounds in the media we
believe, is either a blatant lie, or simply a stunt to attract funds.
Again, you are in the best position to illuminate our ignorant minds
about which one of the two it is.
Awaiting your clarification and response.

As a proof I am giving some link hear more u can check on any media
platforms.
