[AI] Ai urgent query regarding the central university common entrance test.

2022-10-19 Thread Ajay Kharb
Respected members greetings of the day.
Through this email I want to raise and urgent query regarding the Central
University common entrance test that was held to admit under graduate
students for the current academic year by the University of Delhi.
I have a younger sister who is totally blind and had appeared for the same
examination. The problem is that yesterday the national testing agency
released the first rankings list for the general category, and my sister
who is a totally 100% visually impaired student has been allotted a college
in the general category itself.
My question is that will they not release a separate list for the PWD
category?
I know that there are some professors in this group who work with the
university of delhi. I please request you to please help me as this is the
question of my sisters future.
Please consider this as urgent and do revert back as soon as possible.
If they will not release category wise lists for different categories, then
is it not the violation of the reservation laws that in educational
institutions some seets are reserved for the student with dissabilities?
Please help me out with this.
With best regards
Ajay

Re: [AI] A few questions regarding SIP/M

2022-10-19 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
Hi.
Just an update on this.
Managed to eventually get the KYC done through Groww. They did want
the on-screen signature, but accepted thumb impression for the same.
Don't know how consistently this will work, so think we have our task
cut out...

Re: [AI] We should demand for the accessible exam

2022-10-19 Thread Minar Singh
Hi pinkesh,
I was not satisfied with the entire process because from filling out
online application till attending written exam was not at all
accessible. I had attended exam with the help of 15 year old child.
She could tried her best to read out question paper but I couldn't
complete even half way because lack of time for each section. Section
would disappear after allotted time is over for the particular
section. I had attended all the section. I could answer only 10 to 12
questionsfromn Maths and reasoning. Scribe had to repeat every
question for me so reading part consumed lot of time.
Can we demand for the accessible exam with extra time but without
compromising with the question paper standard? This way we will get
level playing field. There were 2 more Visually Impaired candidates,
amongst them one has to go back because their scribe declined to help.
There was a one more person who's scribe shutdown their system instead
of helping to write.

[AI] Inputs on accessibility barriers on Practo

2022-10-19 Thread Mission Accessibility
Hi all,

Pursuant to a complaint filed by mission accessibility, Practo, the health
Consultancy app, has resolved to make their platform, namely their android and
iOS app and their website, disabled friendly latest by April next year. This
would be consistent with the deadline set by the chief commissioner for persons
with disabilities.

They are looking for user inputs on the kinds of barriers that exist on their
platform. I am going to collate all these inputs and share them with the Practo
team. Kindly share any inputs in this thread on etheir iOS and android apps and
their website that you have by 12 noon on Saturday 22nd October. Many thanks.

Warmly, Rahul

[AI] Delhi: Disabled woman seeks nod to buy spacious car, DCW notice to transport department

2022-10-19 Thread Minar Singh
Delhi: Disabled woman seeks nod to buy spacious car, DCW notice to
transport department
Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal. (File image)
..
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has sent a notice to
the transport department over the complaint of a woman who has
intellectual disability, cerebral palsy and restricted mobility.
The woman is awaiting the department’s nod to buy a Tata Winger and
get a manual/hydraulic ramp fitted in it to improve its accessibility.
She told DCW the vehicle is spacious enough to accommodate her
motorised wheelchair and that there is no other option available in
the market for her specific requirement.
According to the woman, the car dealer refused to sell her the
vehicle, stating it could be sold only for commercial use. She has
sought approval for purchasing it for her personal use and modifying
it into a disabled-friendly vehicle by installing a hydraulic lift and
other allied features.
The panel has sought an action taken report from the department by October 26.
The woman has informed the commission that in a ‘meeting of
stakeholders to make Delhi a model accessible city’ held on December
19, 2018, a representative of the ministry of road transport and
highways had stated that in case a person with disability wants to
seek permission from the ministry and other concerned government
agencies for purchasing a diesel/modified vehicle (as per requirement)
with private registration number for personal use in Delhi, it can be
supported on individual basis.
DCW chief Swati Maliwal said, “Even in the 21st century, persons with
disabilities face several problems. It’s shameful that instead of
increasing their accessibility, their mobility is restricted through
government policies.”

Getting sighted help like cyber café etc. Often there are errors and the blind
candidate are made to run around when they approach CMOs office for
verification. This is an additional challenge apart from the access issue.

Hi sir,

Were you able to apply it independently? Last I checked, the fields were not
labled correctly and no info was available about the file size of the documents
to be uploaded such as medical certificate. Haven't given it a go recently
though.
