Hi All

I am yet to get your ideas on the topics you want us to cover during the
convention.

Seldom, the participants get any opportunity to set the agenda for such
an event. We want your inputs and I am not getting any. I can at best
wait for a day or 2 and thereafter I will fix the agenda. It takes time
to get availability of quality presenters.

Again I would like to reiterate, we will take all efforts on getting the
best speakers on the topic you want us to cover.

Hi Prashant

I am not sure about that, as those dates would have been lined up.

Nevertheless, do bring the ideas for the session, Maybe some which
cannot be done by any chance  during the convention, can be
accommodated on other days. This is just my preliminary thoughts.

Is it possible to have the convention on any of the days of Purple

We just booked tickets to go there and unfortunately will reach on

As in the past, the convention will be designed based on what the
delegates want to take place in the convention. We will take sincere
efforts to role it out.

The last convention took place in 2014. Since then there have been
significant developments touching all of us. Significantly we now
have the Rights of persons with disability law. We also now have the
much needed standards on ICT products in place.

Therefore, we are now in the phase of consolidation. We also
experienced Covid and the pains with it. On a brighter front machine
learning and artificial intelligence is now poised to reduce the ill
effects of disability and stepping to the new everything smart.

In this backdrop, please throw in your ideas and we look forward for
an exciting convention. Together we will make it happen!

Hi Harish,

This is a wonderful idea. I sure am looking forward to this convention.
Below are my suggestions;
1. Accessible travel and tour
2. Accessible Adventure activities
3. Hygieneand health (the topics in this can be varied or gender specific)
4. Choosing your partner- visually impaired or sighted
(can bring in couples who are already married and have them share
their experience)
5. Parenting when you are visually impaired
6. Encyclopedia for inclusive education
7. Success and workplace
8. Accessible art
I will be happy to contribute to the last topic if you like.

With regards,
Aishwarya

Seldom, the participants get any opportunity to set the agenda for such
an event. We want your inputs and I am not getting any. I can at best
wait for a day or 2 and thereafter I will fix the agenda. It takes time
to get availability of quality presenters.

We also

[AI] Fwd: New guidelines for scribes for persons with writing disability

From: Disability Law Initiative
Reply-To: dli_india+own...@googlegroups.com

The Central Government has issued new guidelines dated August 10, 2022,
permitting scribes for persons with disabilities who do not meet the 40%
threshold for issuance of a disability certificate, but nonetheless have
impairment in writing for academic and professional examinations. This
follows directions issued by the Supreme Court in the landmark case of
Vikash Kumar vs. Govt. of India, argued by the Disability Law
Initiative. These guidelines have been finalized after getting feedback
from the disability sector on the draft guidelines issued earlier on May
11, 2021.

[AI] Learning of the day: Control Your iPhone With Your Apple Watch

2022-11-14 Thread NAB Delhi Helpline
With the release of iOS 16 and watchOS 9, Apple introduced new
accessibility features including the ability to control your Apple Watch
with your iPhone.

The following steps show you how to control your iPhone with your Apple
Watch. Bear in mind that the watch needs to be paired to the iPhone you
want to control, and the watch and phone need to be running watchOS 9 and
iOS 16, respectively.

1. On your Apple Watch, open the Settings app.
2. Scroll down and tap Accessibility.
3. Select Control Nearby Devices.
4. Select your iPhone from the list.

Once connected, you'll see a series of control buttons enabling you to
perform a variety of actions on your iPhone, including Go to Home Screen,
Open App Switcher, Open Notification Center, Open Control Center, and
Activate Siri. Tapping the More button will also give you media playback
controls.

Hi everyone,

I hope you are doing well.

Has anyone used Duolingo, the language learning app as a visually impaired
individual? Does the app have good screen reader support? If you have used
it, can you share your experience with the app and what language you
learned (just in case some languages work better than others).

Warm regards,
Manjot
