This is great to learn. However it is important to educate the ground

Subject: [AI] Union Sparsh braille accessible debit card by Union
Bank of India

Dear list

Sharing recent banking
accessibility development.

Union Bank of India has been a Pioneer of conceptualizing truly
accessible and Talking ATM and implementing them on a large scale.  Bank
has taken another lead by introducing an inclusive and accessible banking card
product named “Union Sparsh” , a Braille debit card for visually impaired and
partially sighted people.

Recently Union Bank of India has rolled out special accessible and
Braille Debit cards for customers with visual impairments.  Many customers
who have applied have received this special accessible debit card by Union Bank
of India.

This accessible Braille debit card named “Union Sparsh” is designed as
part of the bank's dedicated accessible and inclusive banking program ‘Union
Access’ launched on Global Accessibility Awareness Day in May 2022. This special
accessible card development is done with the support from experts from the blind
community in India and cooperation with NGOs - Saksham Delhi, NAB Delhi and
XRCVC, Mumbai.

Salient features of Union Sparsh card :

The Union Sparsh debit card are identified by the raised letter “U”
embossed in Braille. The U stands for “Union Bank of India”. The Braille
marking on the card makes it easy to recognize the card and differentiate it
from other banks cards.  It also helps to know the face of the
  card.
A rounded notch to the opposite edge of the chip is another key tactile
feature added in the card design. This serves as a guide for the direction in
which to insert the card and to recognize that this is a Debit Card type for
the blind card users to use the card in the right direction at ATMs and
  payment terminals.
Card also has a UV printing effect with raised texture for the large
size of the bank logo and contactless symbol just next to card chip on the
  face of the card.
Bank's this RuPay EMV Platinum card variant has other key features such
as international card, rewards points, insurance cover and lounge access.

Union Bank’s Visually impaired customers can request new debit card or
their current cards can also be replaced on request.  Important requirement
is that the customer is registered in the bank’s system as customer type
‘Blind’.

Union Bank of India is regularly spreading awareness to the field staff
to enhance banking access to PwDs and advised branches to open accounts for
persons with disabilities.

Union Bank of India has a history of great initiatives to accomplish
underlying objectives of universal accessibility.  Bank continues to aspire
to be the best accessible bank for all.

For accessibility feedback connect with Bank’s Access Team –
unionacc...@unionbankofindia.bank

 Thanks
& Regards

Re: [AI] JAWS and NVDA certification query

2023-02-18 Thread Vaibhav Saraf
Hi Minar,

Just a note here, NVDA amount is in Australian dollars, which is
approximately half of US dollars in trade value.

Also, coming to the significance of these certifications, I have not seen a
lot of jobs asking for these certifications, hardly a couple of them in the
last couple of years that I came across. Given that you can pay and get the
certificate delivered to your email within a day in both cases, I won't
personally pay for them unless I need to show someone to.

Thanks,
Vaibhav

[AI] JAWS and NVDA certification query

2023-02-18 Thread Minar Singh
Hi team,

I have acquired 87 and 93 % in JAWS and NVDA exam respectively. I need
to pay $49 and $ 110 respectively for getting the soft copy/Braille
hard copy of certificates. My question is that is it worth paying this
much amount? How long these certificates will be valid? They have
mentioned that I can pay $29 and $55 for renewal but validity period
is not mentioned on the respective websites.
Has anyone acquired these certificates? If yes do you find them useful
during your professional journey? Please share your feedback and help
me to decide.

[AI] Enhancements in JAWS 2023.2302.15 (February 2023)

2023-02-18 Thread Vikas Kapoor

Enhancements in JAWS 2023.2302.15 (February 2023)

The following is a list of improvements made between the December 2022
release and the February 2023 update.

To download the latest release, visit the
 Downloads web page.
You must be logged on as an administrator to install this software.

Improved Support for WhatsApp

JAWS now includes Scripts for the popular WhatsApp messaging application.
This support is for the desktop app available from the Microsoft Store on
Windows 10 and later. For more information about WhatsApp and its features,
visit WhatsApp.com.

JAWS offers several new features that improve the experience when
interacting with messages as well as making and receiving audio and video
calls. Some of these include:

* Automatically announce incoming chat messages and play a sound when
a contact is typing. Additionally, new Quick Settings (INSERT+V) options are
now available to turn off these automatic announcements if needed.
* Use ALT+1 through 9 on the number row to review the most recent nine
messages. Add SHIFT to display the message in the Virtual Viewer.
* New keystrokes for quickly moving to the chat edit field (ALT+E),
the chat list (ALT+C), or the chat history (ALT+H).

For a complete list of available JAWS keystrokes for WhatsApp, press
INSERT+H.

For a complete list of WhatsApp keystrokes, press INSERT+W.

Updated FSDN Now Available

For those who create JAWS scripts to help improve performance with various
applications, the Freedom Scientific Developer Network (FSDN) is a complete
scripting reference manual documenting all scripts, user-defined functions,
and built-in functions found in JAWS. This update includes documentation for
all the latest scripts and functions as of JAWS 2023 and also contains new
topics on ZoomText scripting. Visit the
 FSDN
web page to download the latest FSDN reference guide.

Other Changes

* In the JAWS Notification History, you can now customize the order of
user created notification rules. To reorder rules, press INSERT+SPACEBAR
followed by N to open the Notification History, choose Manage Rules, select
the rule you want to reorder, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+UP or DOWN ARROW to
move it up or down in the list. Reordering rules is especially useful for
conflicting rules since the first rule that matches the incoming
notification is always applied. Changing the order allows you to move rules
that apply to very specific situations to the top of the list, followed by
more generic rules with less strict criteria.
* In PowerPoint, resolved an issue where JAWS was not correctly
respecting the reading order of slide content as defined by the author.
* If Outlook is configured to show messages by conversation, resolved
an issue where JAWS was not indicating the expanded or collapsed state of
the conversation thread while navigating the message list.
* Resolved an issue where pressing INSERT+F11 was not listing all of
the System Tray items in Windows 11.
* Addressed an issue in BARD Express where JAWS was truncating long
entries like book titles and annotations, making it difficult to read all
the details for a book.
* Addressed an issue where the braille cursor was not displayed in the
correct location in the Visual Studio Code editor.
* Addressed an issue in Visual Studio Code where JAWS was not speaking
autocomplete results as you typed.
* Addressed an issue with multiple ARIA live region updates that use
the aria-atomic attribute where JAWS was announcing all updates instead of
the most recent one.
* Addressed issues where Forms Mode would not activate as expected on
certain edit controls. For example, the Search edit box on play.google.com.
* When adding items to a list in Google Docs, resolved an issue where
JAWS was announcing the total number of items in the list each Time ENTER
was pressed to add a new item. JAWS should now only announce the number of
list items when navigating into a list.
* Resolved an issue in Google Sheets where JAWS was not speaking cell
coordinates like "A1" or "B1" while navigating a spreadsheet.
* Updated the JAWS tutor help for Teams to make it clearer which pair
of ARROW keys to use when navigating various application tool bars and tab
controls.
* Resolved an issue with LibreOffice Calc crashing when attempting to
navigate a spreadsheet with JAWS and a braille display.
* It is no longer necessary to make changes in the Windows registry in
order to use JAWS and Fusion with Citrix Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA). For
more details, refer to the following TSN:
Issues with authorizing JAWS, ZoomText, or Fusion in newer versions of
Citrix.

2023-02-18 Thread Yamuna Jivana dasa (Yogan)
Dear Prashant Naik Sir,

This is great to learn. However it is important to educate the ground staff.
Here in Vrindavan for example they still believe that a blind person cannot
open a bank account at Union Bank, unless that account is a joint account with
a sighted individual. For this reason I was refused to open a bank account with
Union Bank, although ICICI has opened an account for me. If you can suggest
further please write me off-line: ykhan...@gmail.com

Thanks kindly.

Dear list

Sharing recent banking accessibility development.

Union Bank of India has been a Pioneer of conceptualizing truly accessible and
Talking ATM and implementing them on a large scale. Bank has taken another
lead by introducing an inclusive and accessible banking card product named
“Union Sparsh” , a Braille debit card for visually impaired and partially
sighted people.

Recently Union Bank of India has rolled out special accessible and Braille
Debit cards for customers with visual impairments. Many customers who have
applied have received this special accessible debit card by Union Bank of
India.

This accessible Braille debit card named “Union Sparsh” is designed as part of
the bank's dedicated accessible and inclusive banking program ‘Union Access’
launched on Global Accessibility Awareness Day in May 2022. This special
accessible card development is done with the support from experts from the
blind community in India and cooperation with NGOs - Saksham Delhi, NAB Delhi
and XRCVC, Mumbai.

Salient features of Union Sparsh card :

a.. The Union Sparsh debit card are identified by the raised letter “U”
embossed in Braille. The U stands for “Union Bank of India”. The Braille
marking on the card makes it easy to recognize the card and differentiate it
from other banks cards. It also helps to know the face of the card.
b.. A rounded notch to the opposite edge of the chip is another key tactile
feature added in the card design. This serves as a guide for the direction in
which to insert the card and to recognize that this is a Debit Card type for
the blind card users to use the card in the right direction at ATMs and payment
terminals.
c.. Card also has a UV printing effect with raised texture for the large size
of the bank logo and contactless symbol just next to card chip on the face of
the card.
Bank's this RuPay EMV Platinum card variant has other key features such as
international card, rewards points, insurance cover and lounge access.

Union Bank’s Visually impaired customers can request new debit card or their
current cards can also be replaced on request. Important requirement is that
the customer is registered in the bank’s system as customer type ‘Blind’.

Union Bank of India is regularly spreading awareness to the field staff to
enhance banking access to PwDs and advised branches to open accounts for
persons with disabilities.

Union Bank of India has a history of great initiatives to accomplish underlying
objectives of universal accessibility. Bank continues to aspire to be the best
accessible bank for all.

For accessibility feedback connect with Bank’s Access Team –

Re: [AI] JAWS Compatibility with WhatsApp

2023-02-18 Thread Yamuna Jivana dasa (Yogan)
Hi That’s good to learn.
Is it possible to get Whatsapp scripts for earlier versions of Jaws and to
install into those versions? I’m running Jaws 2020 and 2022.
Also would be interesting to check if someone has written addins for NVDA for
Whatsapp Desktop. I’ll have to check the Addins page. Just don’t have time
right now.

[AI] Union Sparsh braille accessible debit card by Union Bank of India

2023-02-18 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear list

Sharing recent banking accessibility development.

Union Bank of India has been a Pioneer of conceptualizing truly accessible
and Talking ATM and implementing them on a large scale. Bank has taken
another lead by introducing an inclusive and accessible banking card
product named “Union Sparsh” , a Braille debit card for visually impaired
and partially sighted people.

Recently Union Bank of India has rolled out special accessible and Braille
Debit cards for customers with visual impairments. Many customers who have
applied have received this special accessible debit card by Union Bank of
India.

This accessible Braille debit card named “Union Sparsh” is designed as part
of the bank's dedicated accessible and inclusive banking program ‘Union
Access’ launched on Global Accessibility Awareness Day in May 2022. This
special accessible card development is done with the support from experts
from the blind community in India and cooperation with NGOs - Saksham
Delhi, NAB Delhi and XRCVC, Mumbai.

Salient features of Union Sparsh card :

   - The Union Sparsh debit card are identified by the raised letter “U”
embossed in Braille. The U stands for “Union Bank of India”. The Braille
marking on the card makes it easy to recognize the card and differentiate
it from other banks cards. It also helps to know the face of the card.
   - A rounded notch to the opposite edge of the chip is another key
tactile feature added in the card design. This serves as a guide for the
direction in which to insert the card and to recognize that this is a Debit
Card type for the blind card users to use the card in the right direction
   at ATMs and payment terminals.
   - Card also has a UV printing effect with raised texture for the large
size of the bank logo and contactless symbol just next to card chip on the
   face of the card.

Bank's this RuPay EMV Platinum card variant has other key features such as
international card, rewards points, insurance cover and lounge access.

Union Bank’s Visually impaired customers can request new debit card or
their current cards can also be replaced on request. Important requirement
is that the customer is registered in the bank’s system as customer type
‘Blind’.

Union Bank of India is regularly spreading awareness to the field staff to
enhance banking access to PwDs and advised branches to open accounts for
persons with disabilities.

Union Bank of India has a history of great initiatives to accomplish
underlying objectives of universal accessibility. Bank continues to aspire
to be the best accessible bank for all.

For accessibility feedback connect with Bank’s Access Team –

Re: [AI] please suggest How should we deal with this

2023-02-18 Thread malathi Vb
Sir
My son Mukesh G wrote competitive exam yesterday for the post of
Administrative officer by LIC. They were given extra 20 minutes for
writing the exam. But it was given at the end of the exam for English
paper. For reasoning and aptitude test, the time given was 20 minutes each
which was the same for normal candidates also. I request you to check the
situation and do the needful to allocate this 20 minutes equally (6
minutes) to individual tests as Visually challenged candidates need
more time to calculate mathematics sums i.e reasoning and aptitude tests.
Thank you sir
Malathi
