[AI] Urgent Response Needed: How to raise a request to include "Visual impairment" category in NIC recruitment

2023-03-29 Thread Rejin Jose k.
Dear Accessindians,
I am posting here after a long time. Hope everybody is doing great.
I am writing this email because I am stuck with a job application at the
National Informatics center(NIC).
A job advertisement was published for scientific and engineering posts at
NIC. Candidates with engineering degree or MCA can apply. I do have B.sc
computer science and MCA as my qualification.
So I was trying to apply for the position called "Scientist B". But in the
first step of the application, the select box to choose type of disability
does not include the Visually impaired category. I studied the notification
and it does not say any exclusion for visual impairment. By the way
reservation is not mentioned for the visually impaired category. But I am
interested in going through the recruitment process even if we do not have
a reservation.
Whenever I look in advertisements for engineering or scientific positions I
see the same exclusion. At the same time, visually impaired people are
working in similar positions in private organizations. But still the
Government organizations are not ready to include visually impaired
candidates into such positions.
I would like to know all of your thoughts and how to make inclusion in such
cases. Especially in the advertisement which I mentioned. The last date for
application is April 4. I have already written an email to the email ID
mentioned in the notification. Copying that email here as well.

process to the post of Scientist – 'B', advt No. NIELIT/NIC/2023/1

Candidate ID:
Position Applying for: Scientist B
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am one of the applicants in the above mentioned position. I am a
candidate with a disability: Visually impaired(100%)
When I am trying to proceed after creating an account, I do not get an
option to choose visual impairment as my disability. I am attaching the
screenshot of the same with this email.

This is my dream job. I kindly request your support to resolve this issue
as soon as possible. Because the last date for this application is April 4,
2023.

I understand that the "Visually Impaired" category does not have a
reservation for the mentioned post. But I would like to participate in the
examination and if I get eligible, further in the interview as well on
merit basis.

I humbly request a quick response/resolution on this issue.

Sincerely,
Rejin Jose K

Brutal attack. 'anti-social elements' are always present in the
compartment made for person with disabilities. I remember that many VI
girls including me refused to board in to the handycap coach.

What’s most important is to put the person first, the disability
second Because we all are people first.

[AI] Commuter throws burning cloth on disabled passenger

2023-03-29 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
Commuter throws burning cloth on disabled passenger TRAIN SHOCKER Accused Is
A Minor From Bhiwandi Thane : A 35-year-old Divyang commuter from Diva
suffered severe burn injuries after a fellow passenger, suspected to be
under influence of some narcotic substance, allegedly threw a burning cloth
on him aboard a running local train, the railway police informed on Sunday.
The trigger for the attack is yet to be investigated. The police said they
have scanned the CCTV footage and spotted a 16-year-old boy from Bhiwandi
who is suspected to have committed the crime. The incident occurred on
Saturday at around 10. 30pm in the reserved coach for physically challenged
of a Kalyan-bound slow local train between Kalwa and Mumbra stations. The
victim, a resident of Diva, is speech and hearing impaired and works at a
hotel in Powai. He was returning home and had boarded the train from
Kanjurmarg. The accused, who is physically challenged and seemed to be under
the influence of narcotics, was also travelling in the same reserved coach,
the police said. "As the train was passing Kalwa station, the accused fished
out a piece of clothwhich was probably soaked in some flammable liquid and
lit it. Even as fellow passengers in the moderately crowded coach were
watching, the accused flung the burning cloth on the victim's shirt which
immediately caught fire. Horrified, fellow commuters alerted the victim who
then tried to douse the blaze and in turn suffered burns to his left hand
and neck while his right hand also got singed," informed senior inspector
PandhariKande at the Thane railway police. The victim alighted at the next
station, Diva, and approached the police who took him to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the accused took advantage of the melee and managed to alight
from the train at Mumbra and escape. The Thane railway police have booked
the accused zeroed in on the suspect after screening CCTV images of Mumbra
station and spotted him boarding another train for Thane from the adjoining
platform. - Manoj Bagder
