Subject: [AI] Ensure gadgets, infrastructure for disabled on court premises:
Delhi HC

To make court premises more accessible, the High Court has directed the Delhi
government to provide infrastructure and financial assistance to procure
essential gadgets for the differently abled so that they may take part in
judicial proceedings.

The direction came on a petition filed by a differently abled man, who is
accused of subjecting his wife — a “polio orthopaedically disabled”
and a “70% differently abled person” — to verbal and physical cruelty.

The petitioner sought a direction to constitute a special court under Section
84 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and to make arrangements for
him during the criminal trial that he is facing.

In an order on August 24, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said not only the entry
and exit points in the court complexes, rooms should also be made disabled
friendly.

For this, facilities must be provided to persons with disabilities such as
parties, counsels, witnesses, etc. so that they have no difficulty, not only in
physically accessing the court rooms, but also in participating in the judicial
process by use of technology, the order read.

“There should be a pool of sign language interpreters and courts should also
have new technology, machines and services which support visual and
hearing-impaired persons, etc.,” it added.

Re: [AI] MA Update | Progress on the CCPD Notices to Inaccessible Service Providers

2023-08-28 Thread Mission Accessibility
Dear All,

To add on to what Rahul mentioned, we believe that in addition to the
complaints that Mission Accessibility is already pursuing, it would be
impactful if you yourselves also raise the issues with the concerned
service providers which we have been unable to cover. In order to aid you
with this exercise, we have created a five step process for getting the
grievances resolved from service providers. There are drafts for each stage
in the process.

PFA the google drive link for the templates of the said five-step process.
It has drafts for each step as also a process flow document, which explains
the steps and in what time each draft has to be sent. (
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tqFsu_CGfkAGWWsMhgDBYZZtByPnKXAL?usp=sharing).
For your convenience, I am attaching the template of the first step to this
email. You could directly pick up this draft and after inserting your
personal details, send it to the service provider concerned. If they do not
respond within seven days, you could follow the next four steps as per the
five step process in the Google Drive folder.

Please do reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

[AI] Accessbility Review Series

2023-08-28 Thread Mission Accessibility
Hi everyone,

Mission Accessibility is initiating a social media campaign called
"Accessibility Review Series" as a step towards dismantling barriers in the
digital space and improving inclusivity for PwDs.

Through the series, we will be circulating a Google form with Accessibility
regarding issues that PwDs face while using Jio Cinema App. The responses
will be strictly anonymous.

Based on the reviews from the community, we will formulate a final review
along with a suggestion slide. It will be posted on our official pages on
LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.

We would urge the community to kindly repost and share through their social
media handles to garner the attention of the company.

Let's contribute to "Accessibility for All".

Its good to visit the chosen hospital along with your certificate,

As far as I know, they upload the disability certificate from the

Dear All,

To add on to what Rahul mentioned, we believe that in addition to the
complaints that Mission Accessibility is already pursuing, it would be
impactful if you yourselves also raise the issues with the concerned
service providers which we have been unable to cover. In order to aid
you with this exercise, we have created a five step process for
getting the grievances resolved from service providers. There are
drafts for each stage in the process.

PFA the google drive link for the templates of the said five-step
process. It has drafts for each step as also a process flow document,
which explains the steps and in what time each draft has to be sent.
For your convenience, I am attaching the template of the first step to
this email. You could directly pick up this draft and after inserting
your personal details, send it to the service provider concerned. If
they do not respond within seven days, you could follow the next four
steps as per the five step process in the Google Drive folder.

Please do reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

In terms of other responses, a couple of points. First, as regards
the new suggestions that have come in, such as Broker one et
cetera, my colleague colleague Tanishk, will shortly share with
you the template that you can use to reach out to the service
providers. At present, Mission Accessibility is pursuing
complaints against more than 100 service providers that are in
accessible. And therefore it is not in a position to take up any
more of such matters on a pro bono basis. But you can use that
template to send out notices and even file CCPD complaints on your
own. Second, with respect to the point that Pinkesh made, our
strategy is to wait for the six-month period that the CCPD has
given to each service provider to play out. After that, we will
spend no more than three months  in trying to work with a CCPD to
secure compliance of the directions issued by the CCPD. And if, on
the expiry of this nine months, there are service providers which
do not comply with the mandate as set for them by the CCPD, of
which there will be many, we will combine all of them and approach
the Supreme Court with a consolidated writ petition. That is the
plan of action that we have in mind.  Rahul
