Hello rishi

The triple press  of Home button to activate Voiceover  needs to be configured 
in accessibility settings. Go to:
Settings,
General,
Accessibility,
Accessibility shortcut
Triple home buttom for
Select Voiceover  from the list given

The triple home buttom click is one of the most frequently  used. In my Iphone 
there are instances when Voiceover stops working in Whatsapp while forwarding 
the messages. So I need to switch off the voice over and restart the same using 
 triple home click.
It is also useful when you have to give your phone to others sighted felows as 
they would not be able to work Iphone without closing Voiceover. It may be 
noted that the default IPhone gestures and the Voiceover gestures are quite 
different  so its a good practice to handove your IPhone to sighted associates 
with Voiceover switched off. Similarly when they return the phone, you can 
switch Voiceover on without any sighted assistance.

Dear chandru,
I have seen on some occasions that JAWS  does not speak the spelling in edit 
mode (F2 function key  in excel). Normally  this situation occurs  when the 
worksheet is minimised. You can try to check if the worksheet is maximised by 
pressing alt + space bar + X” (standard command to maximise a window). Once the 
window is maximised, JAWS should be able to read the content of an excel cell 
using F2 function Key edit mode.

Dear Sujata,
There two ways of inserting a symbol:
1. Learn the ASCI Code for the same and use it. e.g. When one types Alt + 0176 
(Numpad) the symbol generated is degrees symbol ( °  ).
2. Use the feature of AutoCorrect. e.g. make an entry in autocorrect  to 
convert oC to °C.  Here oC is the entry one will make thru the keyboard and 
then excel will autocorrect to °C.
I am an engineer so I have been using both of the above methods to denote 
temperature (°C) of flow (m³/hr) etc to indicate the Units of measurement.

The excel help available with the software is the best place to learn software. 
 It provides both the syntax as well as solved examples.
Please feel free to write back in case of further queries. AI mailing list is a 
great  place to  seek answers.

[AI] Aftershokz wired headphones recommendation please...

Dear Rishi,

Aftershock  wired headset is a good product. I have been using it extensively 
for last 3 years now. I have been using primarily for listening to audio books 
and working on PC / laptop. I have never used it for music purpose. The best 
part of the bone inductin headset is that it keeps your ears free for listening 
to others while in a meeting.  There are occasions (official telecons) when I 
am plugging Aftershock in computer and the earphones in my Iphone and am able 
to work in a fast manner as my hands are now free to work on keyboard. it feels 
as if we have developed an additional set of ears ;)
No extra items are required to work with Aftershock.  it comes with a battery 
charger (similar to the one used for charging Android based mobile phones). I 
had purchased the same from US (brought to India by a relative who was 
travelling from US). Recently one of its earphone has developed some issue and  
is partially working and I am planning to buy a new one.
While using it please  take care that it should  be properly worn  and that its 
speakers should not touch external ears.   The sound generated is supposed to 
be send to audio nerve via bone and not standard ear.
Please write back in case of any query,  Shall be happy to answer the same.

Good afternoon,
I would requested our learned AI mailing list members to offer their expert 
opinion on the following:
Our company is using SAP as an ERP solution. All the transactions like Quality, 
Purchase, finance, HR etc are being undertaken in SAP only. Owing to limited 
accessibility of SAP system, I am forced to seek assistance from my colleagues. 
Some time back our organisation has implemented an employee self service portal 
  which used SAP at the backend. As SAP is partially accessible to this

Heartiest greetings on the occasion  of 70th Republic Day.
I need some help from the experts on the subject matter.
I have been using Apple Iphone 5s. The phone has become slow with every passing 
update. Now I am planning to change to an Android phone. Please guide regarding 
the following:
1. Starter website for Android: In case of Apple Iphone, I could learn the 
basics from applevis.com website. Is there any website from which one can start 
learning about operating Android phone from beginning.
2. Is there any website which can guide regarding migrating from Iphone to 
Android phone?
3. In Iphone there is a physical home which can be pressed thrice to start / 
stop Voiceover. Is there any gesture / physical key combination which can be 
used to switch on / off Talkback. The triple home click is useful when my phone 
is to be used by my other family members.

A am a visually impaired customer of SBI and am using Internet banking 
independently for many years now. I had always appreciated and advocated 
regarding high degree of accessibility of SBI online website. Same has resulted 
in high degree of Financial independence  to undertake various online 
transactions. Recent move of SBI to introduce visual capture has robbed me of 
this independence as I cannot undertake the transactions in an independent 
manner.

Hon. PM of India had launched Sugamya  Bharat Campaign (Accessible India 
Campaign) on 3rd Dec, 2015 to improve accessibility of various facet of  life 
led by differently able persons. This campaign alongwith Digital India had one 
of the key focus on improving the accessibility of various websites and make 
them differently able  friendly website. SBI being the flagship bank of India 
has always maintain  high degree of responsibility towards its different 
categories of customers.

I would urge you to remove the visual capture  altogether. In case it is not 
possible to remove the same for security reasons then the option of OTP can be 
introduced. This option is currently being actively used by various websites 
(like IRCTC) to provide an alternate to visual capture.

to begin.  The registration process involves signing multiple documents etc. 
Being a VI, my signature is never matching.

Dear Sir,
A am a visually impaired customer of SBI and am using Internet banking 
independently for many years now. I had always appreciated and advocated 
regarding high degree of accessibility of SBI online website. Same has resulted 
in high degree of Financial independence  to undertake various online 
transactions. Recent move of SBI to introduce visual capture has robbed me of 
this independence as I cannot undertake the transactions in an independent 
manner.

Hon. PM of India had launched Sugamya  Bharat Campaign (Accessible India 
Campaign) on 3rd Dec, 2015 to improve accessibility of various facet of  life 
led by differently able persons. This campaign alongwith Digital India had one 
of the key focus on improving the accessibility of various websites and make 
them differently able  friendly website. SBI being the flagship bank of India 
has always maintain  high degree of responsibility towards its different 
categories of customers.

I would urge you to remove the visual capture  altogether. In case it is not 
possible to remove the same for security reasons then the option of OTP can be 
introduced. This option is currently being actively used by various websites 
(like IRCTC) to provide an alternate to visual capture.

Hi,
I have observed that in many bank statements, telephone bills one gets a 
message "Alert Protection Failure".  After hearing this message I am sure that 
screen reader will not be able to interact with this PDF document. Here I would 
like to request that at the time of  release of new version, Adobe should by 
default select all the settings that might be needed for making the document 
accessible. Often I have seen that many users do not change the default setting 
in different software until and unless  the setting is not interfering  with 
the end objective. Also if possible  a warning message may be flashed when a 
user tries to change the settings that might render the documents unfit for use 
with screen readers.

[AI] Making Powerpoint Presentation

I hope all are doing good.
I would like to seek the guidance of our list members regarding making 
presentations in a meeting.
It is required to make powerpoint presentation to our management on periodic 
basis. We have an digital podium and presenter can view the slides on the 
in-build screen of the podium while the other participants can view the 
presentation projected on the wall using a projector. I do not have a lap top 
which I can connect to podium, but can arrange one. I have an IPhone which can 
be used for the purpose.
I would like to seek the guidance of various experienced people on the list who 
are making presentations on frequent basis. It would be nice if they could 
share their phone numbers so as to facilitate a telecon (at mutually convenient 
time).
I would be glad if I could be pointed to some websites or online tutorials on 
the subject matter as well.

Dear Members,
I am a long time member of this fantastic email list called AI Mailing list. 
Same has helped numerous   members as they can freely express their views and 
seek guidance from fellow members.
Over the years I have seen that the issue of opening of bank accountfor VI 
persons has always been an issue of concern. I had vision issues during my 30s  
and I too had faced challenges with my S/B accounts that were opened during my 
normal eyesight period. The issues faced are more or less person specific and  
often not  system related.
In this regard I would like to propose to the bankers on this list that if 
possible please advocate for inclusion of one  training session covering  the 
bank PWD policy during the induction of new Probationary Officers. I have heard 
that bankers needs to pass some exams before being considered for promotion to 
next level. If possible please advocate  for including some questions (say 2 - 
3 questions of higher as deemed fit by bankers) in these tests so that the 
bank's PWD policy  is refreshed at each and every step.
Humans by nature are emphatic  and hopefully  by better training, things shall 
improve in near future.

[AI] Apartment Registration at Noida

Dear friends,

I have to initiate  the apartment registration process very soon. I would like 
to seek the help regarding from our learned friends on the list.
I shall be happy to  call our friends who might have  undergone the experience 
of interacting with different agencies for undertaking apartment registration 
at Noida.
I have purchased a flat in Noida jointly with my wife (sighted).  As per the 
standard document checklist  I am required to attach signature verification 
certificate from bank. My problem is that my signature does not match.  I am 
not sure if I would be able to reproduce the signatures that have been attested 
by bank on many other documents that I might be required to sign.  Please guide 
how to overcome this issue.
I would request list members who might have registered flat at Noida to write 
to me off the list for sharing their valuable experience.

[AI] Query regarding SBI Saving bank account

Dear List Members,
I had an 18 years old joint account with my wife at SBI.  The joint account was 
opened with me as first holder and my wife as 2nd holder. Mode of operation has 
been  either of the survivor. The account had cheque book, ATM and internet 
banking facility enabled. At the time of opening of bank account, both of us 
had put individual signatures. Over the last couple of years my vision started 
to deteriorate so I found it difficult to maintain signatures so the cheque 
book and ATM card were handled by my wife while I was actively involved with 
internet banking transactions.
Recently I got my signature changed to thumb impression while my wife is still 
maintaining her signature. After the change of my signature to thumb 
impression, SBI cancelled  both my cheque book as well as ATM  on the grounds 
that they cannot issue cheque book and ATM card to an account which has V.I. as 
first account holder. I requested them to issue cheque book and ATM in the name 
of my wife, however they refused politely.
I would like to know from my learned friends if anything can be done to restore 
the cheque book and ATM card facility to the savings bank account. Also will it 
be possible to swap first  account holder name with second account holder name 
so that the issue of denying  the facilities based on sighted condition of 
first account holder can be circumvented.

Apart from above tutorial there are many other  tutorials for using JAWS with 
MS excel on utube also (I have not checked them)
For specific query, please write on the group as their are many people who are 
using excel very actively.

I am using a headphone during video conference. This helps to eliminate the 
issue of screen reader  voice being picked up by the microphone.
