Subject: [AI] MicroSystem acupuncture, does it really help in eye diseases?

Dear all,

Please read the below discription and share the experiences if anyone has
gone through this eye treatment:

MicroSystem acupuncture is the unique synergy of three different treatment
modalities for treatment of vision loss due to a large number of eye
disorders. In MicroSystem treatment, acupuncture, colour therapy and
acupressure are combined to give optimum and often dramatic results.

In MicroSystem acupuncture, the acupuncture points are not part of any
conventional acupuncture. Special ultra fine single use disposable colour
radiated needles are used. In this procedure needles are placed in the
hands and feet only. No needles are placed anywhere near the eyes. Even
young children accept the needles comfortably. The focus of treatment is
directed to the area of the eyes, optic nerve and brain. There is evidence
that this form of acupuncture actually helps to rebuild the tissue in the
eyes, helping to restore the integrity of the retina.

Along with the acupuncture treatment, each patient is taught self
acupressure. This acupressure regime helps to further enhance the vision
improvement achieved by acupuncture and helps stabilize the underlying
disease. Regular self acupressure by the patient also helps to preserve
the vision improvement gained through the MicroSystem acupuncture
treatment.

MicroSystem acupuncture treatment is completely safe and has no side
effects

Vision related disorders treated by MicroSystem acupuncture include:
Retinitis Pigmentosa, Macular Degeneration, Stargardt's macular dystrophy,
Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Detachment, Presbyopia,
Keratoconus and many other retinal dystrophies such as Leber's Congenital
Amaurosis, Rod and Cone Dystrophy and Ushers Syndrome.

RESULTS

After undergoing MicroSystem acupuncture treatment, patients show
improvement in near and distant vision, visual field, night vision and
colour vision. The typical treatment is for 8 days, but vision improvement
is seen within 1 or 2 days. Clinical experience is that over 90% of
patients treated show an improvement in their vision. In the remaining 10%
the vision loss due to disease may be halted or stabilised, which in
itself is a significant achievement.

Over 1,000 patients from India, UK, Canada, Australia, South Africa,
Nigeria, Kenya, Cyprus, UAE, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Malaysia,
Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Bahamas, Greece, Indonesia and Zimbabwe have
benefited from this treatment.

Re: [AI] need help to scan read bilingual text matterialexample hindi and english

2011-11-05 Thread Anand Sharma

Hi Pranav:

I agree that the mentioned software may scan the bilingual matterial but as
far I know 'Lekha or NVDA' reads hindi matterial only written in some
spesific code I forgot the exact name. So the question arises that whether
these software would convert the matterial in that code automatically so
that it could be made readable or not? I have not tried working on Pankaj's
suggestion.

You will need something like the Kurzweil 1000 or Openbook. I suspect Fine
Reader can also scan text with multiple languages.

Re: [AI] DTC to allow free travel for visually-challenged passengers

Hi All,

As far as my knowledge goes, Hp, Uttranchal, Panjab, Hariyana, Karnataka,
and UP provide either free travel or give concession to Visually impaired
person in roadways or local transportation but facility is given only to
those vi who holds medical certificate from respective states only and not
to other vi. Secondly in order to get medical certificate of your blindness
hospital authority ask for some sort of identity proof of respective states
otherwise they do not give. Do you see any logic behind this. Even
certificate from aims are not entertained while availing concession. Why
cannot organization in india working for vi or handicapped person put up a
common proposal where some common facility could be provided at national
level. Any thoughts on this? Is it possible?

Subject: [AI] DTC to allow free travel for visually-challenged passengers

source:
www.thehindu.com

NEW DELHI, October 1, 2011

The Delhi Government has decided to provide free travel in air-conditioned
Delhi Transport Corporation buses plying in Delhi and the National Capital
Region to all visually-impaired people. It has also decided to remove the
income limit on senior citizens for availing of concessional travel on DTC
buses.

Announcing these decisions, Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said
on Friday that while free passes being issued to blind persons were
earlier valid in only non-AC buses plying in Delhi, from October 1 they
would be valid in all AC and non-AC buses plying in Delhi and the NCR. At
present about 12,900 such passes are issued annually by the DTC.

The Transport Minister said the Delhi Government has also decided to
remove the income ceiling for allowing senior citizen passes for
travelling in DTC buses. He said all residents of Delhi would be entitled
to these passes on reaching the age of 60. While the non-AC pass costs
Rs.50 per month, the AC pass costs Rs.150 per month. About 4.5 lakh passes
are issued in this category annually.

On the operation of DTC buses, Mr. Lovely said its fleet of 6,500 buses
includes 1,270 low-floor AC buses and 2,505 low-floor non-AC buses.

DTC ridership up
Last year the average daily ridership was about 30 lakh, the Minister said
adding that about 45 lakh passengers use DTC services on average each day
now. To cater to their needs, the Corporation makes 40,000 trips per day
covering a combined distance of about 10 lakh km.

The higher ridership has also led to increase in DTC revenue. It is now
earning about Rs.3.5 crore per day, which is significantly higher than
last year's average of about Rs.75 lakh per day.

Mr. Lovely said the Corporation is also going for greater use of
technology to improve its efficiency and profits. He said
global-positioning system (GPS)-based automatic vehicle location system
has already been installed in about 3,700 DTC buses and now covers almost
all the low floor buses.

Through this system the speed of buses is being closely monitored and as
such the cases of over speeding and fatal accidents have reduced
drastically, the Minister pointed out. He said the Corporation is also
taking punitive action against drivers for over speeding. Similarly, the
system is being used to prevent idling or unauthorised rest by drivers and
to ensure that no trip is missed, he added.

As for the Passenger Information System (PIS), Mr. Lovely said it would
soon be launched by the Transport Department so that passengers waiting at
a bus stop know exactly which bus plying on which route would be reaching
them. In the first phase, 100 bus shelters will be taken up involving
about 2,500 DTC buses and this would include the cluster bus service, he
said.

The Minister said electronic ticketing machines would also be introduced
in DTC buses soon to help in smoother operation of bus services.

Mr. Lovely said disciplinary action had also been taken against some DTC
staff members for various violations. He said 947 drivers and 723
conductors reported not to be in uniform while on duty were challaned or
were cautioned with strict warning. About 300 cases of improper parking
were detected and 632 cases on non-display of LED/destination boards were
detected.

Subject: [AI] want to take life insurance term plan

pls guide on this.

Looking for 1 cr cover for minimum 20 years.

Specially I am interested in knowing how the premium is charged to
visually

impared applicants.

I assume that if we disclose our disability, the cover may result in
higher

premium or no life insurance cover at all.

Kindly throw some light on this.

Re: [AI] guide dogs in India

2011-09-03 Thread anand Sharma

Hi,

I think Due to lack of space, neat and clean infrastructure and civilized
people it is not possible to make use of guide dogs in India. Creating
right condition or environment does not rest in one individual. When your
neighbour deliberately park their vehicle very near the staircase of
building then you can imagine the scenario outside.

i think it is not that simple, first, one must creat right condition.
second, blind people useing public transport with guide dog, will be very
difficult,
as it is not accesible. and dog will have to compete with so many
travelers.
further when dog is working, people may try and comunacate with dog.
wiche may bother its work.

So, in the same way, guide dogs might not work as effectively in India
as they do in the US, but I don't think that is a good enough reason
for not getting a guide dog.

It is like that, not knowing about England, but in Austria, first, one
does not have street dogs, and I mean it, not a single one! Busses and
underground/trams/trains are assured with low step to climb, so a guide
dog can manage easily.
On top, communication with a dog, especially with a guide one on the road,
can turn into a big issue if anything happens and the dog was distracted
by someone else, which means, it is forbidden for children and/or grown
ups to communicate with a guide dog on the road, unless emergency
situations.
Not to mention, the hygeen level a dog requiers, especially if living
indoors is very very costly, by all means and I am sure this increases
still when it comes to a country with a summer climate like India.

Which of these problems are not faced by people using guide dogs in,
say, England?
