The other bit is that you might not always have the time to memorise your
content or the order in which your content appears. In that case, you can
have your key points typed out and use earphones connected to another
machine and refer to the pointers if you need to.

You can experiment with different styles and see what works for you.

Thanks,

Another option could be to work on building specific skill-set through
remote courses on platforms such as courcera. Once you are confident doing
something specific, you can take the next step of quitting your current job
if need be.

Re: [AI] From Charging Lakhs to Offering Proxy Candidates, Is Exam 'Scribe Service' Turning Into 'Business'?

2022-08-16 Thread Kunal Mehta
Point taken about the familiarity with assistive technology / screen readers.

But we do need to start somewhere and offering testing with NVDA is
something that can be done.

I might be a JAWS user, but if I know that I need to take an exam
using NVDA ahead of time, I can practice accordingly.

I know there will be a lot of issues to start with and hence this can
be implemented for a small number of candidates in a phased manner.

We can look at a longer horizon (perhaps even a decade) for a
full-scale implementation.

Thanks,
Kunal

Re: [AI] RE: Accessibility of OLA App in IOS

2022-08-02 Thread Kunal Mehta
I agree that Uber is still the preference. This for me to a large extent is
due to the inaccessibility of Ola. As someone who relies on ride hailing
apps, I do not think preferences always work and the use of Uber / Ola /
Rapido / any other app is based on the need of the hour. Besides, I believe
Ola's coverage in tear 3 towns is better than Uber.

Re: [AI] Alexa device

2022-07-18 Thread Kunal Mehta
Hello,

Depends on what you're looking for. I and most people I know use eco dot (I
suppose 4th gen is available currently).

The same device is also available paired with a light that can be
controlled using your device.

These devices generally have good discounts in Amazon sales.

Hope this helps

Re: [AI] Request alternatives ways to WhatsApp in PC

2022-06-04 Thread Kunal Mehta
Hi,

I used the method I mentioned last month and it worked well. However, they
will need to take remote control of the laptop. It might be ideal if the
person helping is also on laptop and not on phone.

I'm not sure if Google meet gives the ability to provide remote control.
Hence, Zoom / teams / team viewer might work better.

Thanks
Kunal

Hello,

If you have a sighted person with access to Zoom from another device in the
same premises, you can open web.whatsapp.com and share your screen on Zoom.
You can then share remote control of your laptop again through Zoom and
handover your phone to scan the code. They can then scan the QR virtually.

Hope this helps.

Re: [AI] Regarding reading Email address suggestion in Gmail while composing the mail

2022-05-11 Thread Kunal Mehta
I use the standard view and it works quite well. In fact, attaching files
is better on standard view.

The only issue is when one is trying to navigate through the list of mails.
The focus is not stable. I use basic html to delete mails in lots.

using standard html also helps retain formatting of the email thread.

The fact that calendar events can be viewed on the same page is especially
useful for those using Google sweet.

Thanks,
Kunal

Re: [AI] LIC is refusing term plan because of my visual impairment

2022-03-25 Thread Kunal Mehta
Hi Aziz,

I did a basic enquiry to get a life insurance and the advisor told me that
it wouldn't be approved due to my vision impairment. However, ULIPs can be
bought.

Would be good to know of circulars or advocacy (if any)

Thanks,
Kunal

[AI] Paid Study to Understand Blind User’s Experience with Software Updates

2022-03-20 Thread Kunal Mehta
Hi All,

A PHD researcher at the University of Michigan is studying the impact of
software update on blind screen reader users in India. As a part of the
research, he would like to interview a certain number of screen reader
users who identify as being blind, belong to age groups of either 40 -50,
50 – 60 or 60+ distributed across genders.

This will be a Zoom interview and will take 60-90 minutes. Participants
will receive a monetary compensation of Rs. 500 for their time. The
interview can be conducted either in English or Hindi. Basic users of
technology are encouraged to participate.

If you think you can be a participant or know someone who can, kindly drop
a note to kunal...@gmail.com with the following details:

1: name

2: age

3: gender

4: phone / WhatsApp number

Feel free to reach out in case of any questions!

Thanks,

Kunal
