I had purchased one laptop of HP for my college, I also faced the same problem. Jaws does not come up speaking until at five minutes and it is indeed very frustrating. And when it starts speaking also, the response is extremely slow. I discussed the matter with the service engineer, but he could not solve my problem. He would only say, see the desktop has come, our machine is perfectly functioning. Kiran once said try changing display drivers, select a previous version, maybe, your problem woul be solved, but I could not try. I am facing this problem quite recently. Moreover, it does not always behave such. I am sure if I downgrade to jaws 6, I can avoid this problem for good. As far as my experience goes, this problem is not jaws version specific.
