Dear EVERYONE:

Rotary Bangalore Abilities is glad to announce 11TH CAR RALLY FOR THE
BLIND-2018.

The details are:

You are on the wheel, but you wait for the PERSON in the passenger
seat to tell if you’ve to turn left or right at the junction.

Why? Because the person at the passenger seat is blind and he/she will
be reading out the route from the Braille map. Quite thrilling, right?

This’s all real and will be happening at the 11th Car Rally for the Blind-2018.

Date: Sunday, August 5, 2018

Time: 9 am

Venue: Vega City Mall, No, 172/1, Srinivas Industrial Estate,
Bannerghatta Road, Dollar Layout, BTM Second Stage, Bengaluru-560072.

*The blind is the navigator who gets the route map on the morning of
the rally in Braille. Driver will not know the route.

*The blind person reads out the route to the driver, who has to follow
the instructions from the navigator. This develops good coordination
between the driver and the navigator, a sporting and competitive
environment to get an understanding of how a blind person functions
and his strengths.

*Any home car, starting from a Maruthi Suzuki, could be used.

*This race is held in Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) format, Which means
the instruction from the navigator also contains the speed limits the
driver has to maintain. The thrill and excitement of the race is that
it’s not entirely dependent on speed.

*Anyone with a good driving skill can be a part of the race.

*Have a car and want to be a part of the race? We will pair you up
with a navigator.

*Is this your first time? We’ll put you in the category of the first
timers so that you compete truly with your peers.

*Women drivers will be paired with women navigators if they prefer and
they would compete as a woman’s team category.

*Physically challenged people who drive special modified cars are a
different category of drivers who could pair up with a blind navigator
and be a part of the race.

*Rotary rural clubs are a special category by themselves.
