Re: [AI] Assistance on Delhi Metro!

2013-08-05 Thread Sweety bhalla
Try to understand their situation. How is it possible to trace the person
to be assisted? How the T O convey to your destination station to help you?
It is almost impossible to find a person in such a crowded trains to be
provided the required assistance. In the very 1st coach, even the space is
also available for the wheel chair users. The problem is only that the same
doors are used for board in and out from the trains. Something should be
done to avoid this terrible situations, where the passengers try to use the
same way for entrance and exit. I already given the suggestion in the
suggestion book, but no result come out. If the doors alternatively use for
the same, the journey will become more comfortable and hassel free.

The only problem with Delhi metro is that they will force you to board
on ladies coach, and frankly speaking, it does not suit me.

This is really a good service provided by delhi metro. Just wanted to know

Can they help while checking the bags, because at some metro stations,
before checking in you have to put your bag into the scanner, which is
problematic, as I have to search my bag out of various bags lying

Re: [AI] Assistance on Delhi Metro!

2013-08-02 Thread Kiran Kaja
That is interesting about Toronto. London Underground and national rail in
the UK provide excellent services. You can just walk up to a London
Underground station and ask for help. They will put you on the train, inform
the driver of my destination and call ahead to the destination station.
There is usually someone waiting on the other side to escort you out of the
station. With long distance trains, it works in a similar fashion although
you have to book assistance in advance.

Kiran

You can get to the station and give the number a call about 3 to 4 minutes
in advance. Someone will meet you at the gate. If you are already in the
metro and want help when you are getting off, again you can call couple of
station before your destination. The system looks and sounds interesting.

Re: [AI] Assistance on Delhi Metro!

2013-08-02 Thread mahendra

we get same kind of help here in Vienna like in
London.
At 09:51 AM 8/2/2013, you wrote:

That is interesting about Toronto. London Underground and national rail in
the UK provide excellent services. You can just walk up to a London
Underground station and ask for help. They will put you on the train, inform
the driver of my destination and call ahead to the destination station.
There is usually someone waiting on the other side to escort you out of the
station. With long distance trains, it works in a similar fashion although
you have to book assistance in advance.

Re: [AI] Assistance on Delhi Metro!

2013-08-02 Thread akhilesh
The only problem with Delhi metro is that they will force you to board
on ladies coach, and frankly speaking, it does not suit me.

has anyone tried asking for assistance from the outside of metro
station itself where the auto or cab has dropped a vh?
do they assist at that point also?

if you are at the origin station you can ask people at the customer care
centre to help you. you need to tell them where will you get down and
 they
communicate to the concerned staff at the other station.

if you have boarded the train by yourself and need help at any other
station then in that condition also you can call this same number and you
 will get assistance.

So how does it work? You call the number and tell them your origin and
destination station? Do they then have someone to put you on the train
 at
your origin? How much in advance do you have to call?

I can assure you that this service really works. I have seen many people
 in
 Delhi using this service already.
