My son is 2.5 years old and we can make books for kids like we can get book from store and do braille with white adhesive label sheet or OHP transparent sheet in that book so that it can be dual reader book. If possible we can make some tactile also or make story box. In beginning we can read with them slowly they will do or if we have audible of that book let it run and your son will read. For my son i made books and he is enjoying those. For audible books bookshare is very good. Re: [AI] Books for kids
Hi, What format does your son prefer? If audio, then audible.com has plenty of kids books. Other members have suggested bookshare which is a good option. You should get bookshare access in any case. Your son can also access Kindle books if he uses a device running IOS which is the operating system made for mobile devices by Apple. Re: [AI] Books for kids
Respected Anjina Aunty, To the best of my knowledge, NAB Delhi branch and Mumbai branch have good books for kids on stories etc. Apart from that, southern India organizations do have some of the audio collection. Since I am not sure which ones of them have it, I am restraining from naming anything specific. You may like to google and contact them for catalogues. If Braille books are something which you may consider providing him, then good collection is with AICB. There are scanning OCRs available which scan the book, and converts the text into e-text, which can be read by Jaws. If you do not mind spending about 70K or so, then you may get good quality camera scanner such as Pearl camera. Which is basically a camera with stand, where one has to align the book, and it takes the snapshot of the page and converts into text. We can discuss its prose and cons if you want to go into the details. Hope That Helps, -- Amar Jain.
