Re: [AI] Delhi state election accessibility check
Hi all, This mail thread is really interesting because everybody is expressing a new experience. Mine is also a diff. My sis, who is in Delhi, revealed a better experience of voting. She told that she asked for a list of Braille to the concern person and he smoothly provided the same. If I would elaborate then in the list below information’s were provided- 1: serial number. 2: name of the candidate. 3: party name. ETC. She didn’t seek help from any sighted for knowing the serial number of her choice. After knowing the serial number from the Braille list, she moved towards the EVM. There, above every button serial number was written in Braille. She just hit the button of her choice. Hi Vedprakash, Many thanks for the clarification. I did not have a chance to look at the machine carefully which is why I asked. I don't have a problem as long as the markings were there. But I found the numbers written in braille. Initially, I could not locate the numbers. but when I touched the machine very carefully, I found the braille indicators after each button. The pressing area was lower than the point where the numbers were written. The numbers were on the right side of the button and were clear enough to feel. - Original Message - From: "Amit Pahuja" To: "AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerningthe disabled." Re: [AI] Delhi state election accessibility check
myne was a very tipical experiance in Delhi voting, as soon as I entered the room I asked for Braille list of candidates but presiding officer refused such list & stood from her table & read all list of candidates on EBM machine I requested to her to go back to her seat & counted the buttons from top to bottom & pressed the desire buttons, if they would have provided the braille list it would have been easy & decreased my voting time, On 12/5/13, Nirmal Verma wrote: > We had many illeterate voters in mwarby booth so we told them to Go from > top to bottom and at certain no you have that particular symbol. > > Nirmal > On Dec 5, 2013 5:45 AM, "Pranav Lal" wrote: > >> Hi Nirmal, >> >> How would you know where the number is on the EVM? I could locate the numbers in braille beside each buttons. But I think they could be inscribed with more clarity. [AI] Delhi state election accessibility check
Hi all, Has anyone voted in the Delhi state election? If so, was there any accessible way to know which button to press on the eletronic voting machine or EVM? I ask because I did not find it but I was in a hurry so may have missed something.
