Re: [AI] Digital Accessibility Concerns in Delhi

2023-03-13 Thread Ram Singh
Digital services for public transportation are not accessible for
individuals with disabilities, particularly in terms of using online
platforms to navigate buses and metros. While there are alternative
services such as government-operated auto and taxi services that are
available in many public areas, these services remain inaccessible to
us. It would be greatly appreciated if you could shed some light on
the availability of digital services in the Delhi market, as this is a
significant concern for me. As a visually impaired individual, I am
cautious about my privacy being compromised. Thank you.

RE: [AI] Digital Accessibility Concerns in Delhi

2023-03-13 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi,

One digital accessibility concern relates to point of sale terminals. These
need to be made accessible.

Yes, tapping the credit card does work but not in all cases and for high-value
transactions, this is a massive problem since pins need to be entered.

Those devices need to be accessible or if nothing else, we need to have key
pads on those devices. Overlays will also not work because the virtual keys
change their positions on the touch screen. This is an anti-fraud measure.

[AI] Digital Accessibility Concerns in Delhi

2023-03-13 Thread Mission Accessibility
Dear Members,

I hope this mail finds you well!

As you all know, Mission Accessibility constructively engages with the
developers of platforms that are inaccessible to disabled users and
empowers such users to voice their concerns in a productive and practically
useful fashion.

To further our objective of making these spaces accessible, we had a
discussion with the Delhi PwD Commissioner and he was very receptive to the
concerns raised.

Hence, we take this opportunity to route the digital accessibility concerns
of people in Delhi through Mission Accessibility to redress them as soon as
possible. We would be grateful to have your contribution to this by sharing
your concerns related to digital accessibility. For example, if people are
facing difficulty in accessing ATMs, bank services or anything else related
to digital accessibility, they can get in touch with MA and MA will help
them to draft appropriate representations to the PwD Commissioner. All
accessibility concerns that are ICT-related can be relayed to us. Even if
the concerns are otherwise related to any disability rights issue in Delhi,
they can be shared with us so that Mission Accessibility can pass the same
to those who can take the issue up with the State Commissioner.

Given that the Commissioner is receptive and proactive, let us make the
most of this opportunity and make sure that our rights are fully realised.
Hence, we hope the members of Access India would contribute to the same.
