Re: [AI] Divya Nayan - A Device for text reading - Registration.
Hi all, The OrCam does not offer anything that a mobile phone cannot offer as far as I can tell from reading. See its manual at https://www.orcam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/orcam_englishuserguide_web. pdf The main thing with the OrCam is the form factor. It is tiny and can be mounted on a pair of glasses. I read the FAQ of Divya Nayan. It is not a camera but a contact scanner so may work better with hard copy books. As always, much depends on your use case. Any camera based solution is more versatile as in you can try reading LCD displays and a variety of other things like sign boards. However, a contact scanner may do better with print. Camera based solutions can also handle print but you need to account for lighting and the position of the lens with respect to the print. I would use both solutions in different cases. I would use a camera based solution to look for signage or to read my computer's screen if it does not boot as well as with apps like be my eyes. A scanner solution would be better in offices where reading accuracy is crucial or in situations where cameras are restricted. The last thing to remember here is that camera based solutions need to be directed at print. Some specialized document reading applications like seeing ai do give you feedback about how much the camera can see. The OrCam as far as I know also gives you similar feedback but I am not sure. The vOICe running on Android is the only app I know of that will help you direct your camera at the object of interest such as a sign board. You can then use its soundscapes to align the camera and wait for the built-in OCR to engage. yess I am looking for the same. I have herd about the devices such as Divya Nayan, Manovue, touch vision, orcam reader etc. which propose to offer same functionality. whether they are simply the brinchildern of the engineering students imagining it to be useful or are they really useful is the question to ponder. Re: [AI] Divya Nayan – A Device for text reading – Registration.
hello there, this is the exact link for registration. https://divyanayan.csio.res.in/registration.php interested people can register. my point of view is that, three thousand mah battery and some of other configurations are too less for the cost of 15,000. and, can we get the text files of the scanned document to copy and read in our computer? that is important because, say if we don't like the voices in the device or we might like to navigate it differently.
