I completely agree with Sultana's observation about ITC Hotels. I have
personally interviewed with them at their hotel in Hyderabad and with an
added reference from their VP HR who has enough information and inputs about
inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Despite being a professional from the hotel industry and many promises made
by the HR Manager, they have not ever responded to any follo up calls from
me. this was over 2 years ago. I understand the industry needs a lot of
visual inputs, but there are still roles like training which can be easily
fulfilled by a person with vision impairment. When asked by the HR Manager,
this was exactly what I told him I could do as could anyone else like
myself. Since I have the necessary industry experience and skills to carry
out this task with the minimal adjustments, it was not very nice to see they
didn't care and I had eventually wasted my time with the company.

These are my personal thoughts based on first hand experience with them.
They must be definitely pushed to be more inclusive in their policies based
on the skill sets and industry experience an individual brings to their
table, rather than just look at the disability as an inability.

Hai Swati,

I would like to share some information with you based on my personal
experience, regarding exploring opportunities particularly at ITC
Hotels for people with disabilities. They do hire people with physical
disabilities for operational roles. However, there is no scope for
vision impaired persons to work there as they use an application
exclusively designed for ITC on the UNIX platform which does not
support JAWS.

I strongly agree with Asif's statements about the discriminatory
attitude of corporates towards disabled people.

Sultana

You can contact ability foundation and anubhuti who have been in the
field of employment of persons with disability. Also, do contact
Enable India of Banglore. These will be good sources to start your
 research.

  Hello members,

I will be interning with ITC Ltd. As a part of my project in
the organization, I have the opportunity to open the doors of this
  conglomerate
for people with any kind of disability.

For this purpose, I need comprehensive data and information
for making this opportunity work for all. I need the population of people
  with disability
in India, rate of unemployment, willingness to work, information on
  education (what
kind of courses are pursued and level of education), government
  aids/benefits
provided to organizations hiering people with disability and satisfaction
  with current
job. For strengthening my case, I also need to know how quickly they
  switch
jobs, companies with best practices for hiering and retaining people with
disability, attitude of customers towards such companies, from what
  sources
people can be hired and any other related information which I will
  require
  to
  work this out.

Note: I need information across disabilities and not just limited
  to visual impairment / blindness.

Folks, if the data supports I will be able to make ITC Ltd. as
