Subject: [AI] Liaison officer for the disabled in universities.

Hi friends,

I was away from access india for the last 8 months due to some of my personal
issues. now I am back with an important issue which I wanted to discuss with
the group since long time.

UGC in its letter dated 15-5-2014 directed all the universities to have a
'Liaison Officer for the Disabled' with a bunch of other steps to be taken by
these universities as per the recommendation of an expert committee appointed
by the commission.

upon receiving the above direction, Tumkur University (through its Registrar)
has placed me in charge of the liaison officer for the disabled for the
university.

but, the UGC has not specified the powers and functions of the said officer,
privileges of the officer, neither they have given the complete report of the
expert committee.

due to this situation, I am unable to do anything as the liaison officer for
the disabled from past one year or so. I know there are many university
teachers in this group. if any of you are liaison officer for the disabled, or
have seen the functioning of the liaison officer in your university, or
anywhere else, please guide me regarding what can be done in this situation.

yours
Umesha S. E.
