[AI] Math software tools

2011-03-03 Thread Ruchi Patil
Hi,

I am presently using hentermath vp arithmetic for my visually impaired son.
Hentermath has arithmetic and algebra tools- are there any products to cover
geometry?

Regards,
Ruchi

Hi Ruchi,

You may be better off asking this question on the blindmath list. What level
of geometry is your son doing? I have used German film with a rubber mat
throughout highschool, which was a long time ago for my geometry needs.
Saksham (www.saksham.org) may stock geometry equipment. You can also contact
foreign suppliers such as the RNIB (www.rnib.org).

If you are looking to draw shapes on the computer, then Microsoft Logo could
be an option worth investigating. Alternatively, look at the Iveo technology
from Viewplus Technologies. If you need your son to draw graphs, then try
using Microsoft Excel for a start. AAR is another package that could be used
to plot graphs though it does require the user to learn its syntax.
Pranav

Hi Pranav,

Thanks for your valuable inputs on the subject.

Does anyone have iveo display in Mumbai, so that I could have a look at it.
Just seen the demo on their web page.

Regards,
Ruchi

Hi,

I think that Mr. Ram Agarwal, who is the owner of Karishma Enterprises owns
another company called Braille World that sells ViewPlus products in India.
You could check if they have an Iveo Touchpad.
I have played with an Iveo Touchpad, and I would say that it would probably be
useful for your sun once he is old enough for higher geometrical concepts.
