And what about novices? I personally know several who don’t know even
the basic technological evolutions achieved in the process of
conquering barriers inherent with blindness.
Understanding the concerns of respected moderator, including some
basic information about technologies, and further the links of
particular sites providing solution can be mentioned on the Home Page.

Re: [AI] Mobile related queries

2010-06-15 Thread YADAV, D. N
Probably mobile phones with talk were not much in vogue those days when Access
India constitution was framed. Now it has become such an accessibility issue
of magnitude that it somehow gets prominence over computer accessibility for an
individual. Should we amend our old AI constitution much like our Indian
Constitution include this issue too? After all, 'Talk mobile' are also
accessibility issues? why should we go to 'Talk mailing list'
internationally if we could get things indigenous?

Re: [AI] Mobile related queries

2010-06-15 Thread harish

Hi All

Certainly, that was the intention. Accessibility of electronic devices is
certainly within the scope of this list.

For some days mobile related devices were hogging traffic on the list and I
was waiting for it to subside. However, trivial queries which were better
dealt in mobile phone list was being repeatedly posted here. Hence, the
sugggestion. Moreover, it is a good idea to join such list when you get a
new phone or a new technology which needs some learning afresh.

Correct me if I am wrong, I don't think that it is the intention of
the moderator to ban mobile related discussion all together, rather it
is an attempt to minimise the trafic on the list since many of those
basic issues can be resolved without filling our mailboxes. It does
not even require signing-on to another list, but a bit extra effort.
To give you an example, I wanted to know the hard reset command for my
N97 Mini and all I had to do was to do a simple Google search and I
got my answers on the very first hit. This is particularly the case
when it comes to accesibility related solutions since many e-forums
make their messages available through public search engines. So in a
nut shell, one does not have to be an expert to find answers to some
basic accesibility related questions on his/her own.

Also, Why don't we create files of regular instructions, scripts and
other more general queries and put them in our homepage for people to
see directly. This would save up a lot of traffic, though we need to
discuss any and all relevant techno topic.
