As part of our monthly knowledge sharing program, we, at the Blind Graduates' 
Forum of India (BGFI), Present a talk on "Role of Digital Forensics in Criminal 
Investigations"  by Hina Dodia, a digital forensic expert. 

 

Date : Saturday, December 22, 2012.

About the speaker:

Hina Dodia, is a Digital Forensics Expert including Cyber and Mobile ­Forensic, 
Speaker Identification (Voice Identification) and Audio/Video Authentication. 
She has completed her Masters in Computer Science from University of Mumbai. In 
the 6 years of her Experience, she has worked as a Cyber Forensic Expert with 
the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories, Government of Maharashtra. 
For almost 4 years. She has analyzed and solved successfully various Cyber 
crime, Mobile Forensic, Speaker Identification and Audio/Video Authentication 
cases including Economic Fraud, Financial Fraud, Source code theft, 
Pornography, Log Analysis, Email- Internet crimes, Document Forgery, Terrorism, 
Hacking, bribery cases etc. She has also given lectures to Police Officers, 
Lawyers, Judges and Students. She has also trained various new officers for 
solving Cyber crime and Tape and Speaker Identification cases. She has deposed 
as an Expert witness in various cases throughout Maharashtra. She has also 
presented one research paper in the area of Cyber Crime at a National Level 
Conference. She has also explored the domain of Information Security and 
thereby gained experience in performing Vulnerability Assessment Penetration 
Testing and Network Forensics. She is also very well versed with technologies 
of Information Security. 

 

About Digital Forensics:

Cyber/Computer and Mobile device Forensics can be defined as techniques to 
examine digital media in a forensically sound manner to identify, preserve, 
recover, analyse and present facts and opinions in a legally accepted manner. 

Speaker identification (Voice Identification) can be termed as identifying a 
person solely by his or her speech. The aim of speaker identification is to 
identify voice from an unknown voice speech sample and a set of known speech 
samples from different speakers.

Audio/ Video Authentication is a process used to ascertain the trustworthiness 
or authenticity of a 
digital video.

Dear friends,

 

Breaking away from the convention of conducting the monthly programs on third 
Saturdays, this time, we will gather on Sunday October 14, 3:00 PM at Jai Hind 
College, A Road, Churchgate.

 

We have the privilage of organizing an interactive talk with Ashish Goyal, an 
individual with many firsts to his credit. For a glimpse of his accomplishments 
, please read his brief profile given below.



BGFI presents this platform for Students, budding professionals, and all of you 
to chat with an inspiring person and learn more about his challenges and 
achievements, with the hope  of motivating you to dream big and make a 
difference.

 

In addition, we have two more programmes scheduled:

-Continuing our tradition of  celebrating the Readers Day in October, we will 
express our appreciation and gratitude to readers who have been selflessly 
opening up the printed world to us.

Ashish Goyal's Profile

Ashish Goyal is a portfolio manager at a leading macro hedge fund based out of 
London.  He has been investing for the last 10 years in the global financial 
markets with a focus on Asia.   He is also a keen investor in start-ups across 
the world, and looks for zealous entrepreneurs with innovative ideas.

Ashish was the first visually impaired student to graduate with an MBA from The 
Wharton School.  He went on to work at JP Morgan's Chief investment Office, 
becoming the first visually impaired trader in the world. In 2010, he was 
honoured by the President of India with the nation's highest civilian 
award--the National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Outside of global markets, Ashish is very active in philanthropy.  In the last 
three years, he has raised more than $50,000 for causes ranging from education 
of poor children in India to medical research on blindness, and International 
Peace and Leadership.  His fundraising activities have involved hikes in 
Southern England, a run in Battersey Park, and various speaking and dinner 
engagements. He is on the Retinitis Pigmentosa Young Professionals committee 
for Fighting Blindness--a leading Blind charity based in the UK.

Ashish is passionate about theatre and supports The Print Room, a new theatre 
based in Notting Hill in West London.  He plays blind cricket for the Metro 
London cricket team and is an active member of the Serpentine running club in 
Hyde Park.  For the last year and a half, he has been working to perfect his 
moves dancing the Argentinian tango.

Due to popular request to shift the day of the monthly program from third to 
fourth Saturday, we are happy to inform that this month's program will be held 
on the fourth Saturday of the month, September 22, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.  
Consequent to this, the venue is now changed to Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan 
basement hall Jagannathrao Bosale Marg, Mariman Point, Mumbai 400021 opposit 
Mantralay.  The venue can be conveniently reached by bus root number 138 from 
CST station as well as 138/100 from Churchgate stationt.  Share taxi service 
are also available from both these railway stations.

1. A demo of some free Android-based applications which can be used locally in 
Mumbai for bus, train, taxi/auto travel developed by Smart Shehar.  These would 
also work on HTML 5 supported web brousers.  We would be having Mr. Chetan 
Temkar from Smart Shehar demonstrating them.
