2009-03-17 Thread Janardhana Naidu

Hello Priya Pillai,
It would be better if you could upload the questionaires to any site and
circulate the link in Accessindia and request The U G and Pg students to
fill and submit to your personal mail ID.

With best regards,
G. Janardhana Naidu.

I felt a need for a good library services an information network is lacking
in India for visually handicapped especially for higher education. Now due
to digitalisation, and assistive technology the blind can access all the
information through computer and screen reader. But how many colleges and
Universities do have such facilities??

How many students are really technologicaly trained and aware about
this..

Who is responsible/ accountable for providing quality information to
Blind...

what problems the graduate /Post graduate face in terms of Information

Hello:

I leave the last couple of questions to the students themselves; to answer
the rest of them, I think some of the universities have special facilities
in their libraries such as computers with screen readers which students can
easily use. Some of the hostels, especially in Bangalore such as
Mitrajyothi, NFB or NAB Karnataka have their own facilities where students
can practice using computers with screen readers. Besides certain
universities and NGOs, I don't know if there are any government-leve plans
to train students in access technology.
