Hi Geetha,
Please remember that virus definition message comes only when the programme
is updated, and by default, the programme update is not set to automatic
update. That is why it has stopped giving you the information about the
virus definition. Please go to the system tray and click Avast and choose
updating submenu and there in you can click on the programme update and
it'll update your programme and set up and after that you'll start receiving
your virus definition update messages.

Subject: [AI] Problem with Avast updates
Hi all,
Ever since I installed Avast on my new computer, I do not get the 'Virus
database has been updated' message. Although Avast is running in the System
tray, I am unable to figure out as to whether daily updates are occurring
regularly.
Is it possible to manually check whether Avast is being updated daily? What
option needs to be activated in order for Avast to announce once the update
is done?
Thanks.
Geetha
