Re: [AI] Queries regarding SBI credit card
Good morning. I would be happy to take this up legally on behalf of all those who are keen to serve as complainants. We can either approach the CCPD or the banking ombudsman. This does not come within the realm of digital Accessibility, so I will take it up in my individual capacity. Please write to me at rahul.bajaj1...@gmail.com with all your documentation and call me on 9890281068 to follow up. Re: [AI] Queries regarding SBI credit card
Hi, In the Master Circular on Loans and Advances dated 1st July, 2015 it is clearly mentioned that "In case of all categories of loans irrespective of any threshold limits, including credit card applications, the lenders should convey in writing, the main reason/reasons which, in the opinion of the bank after due consideration, have led to rejection of the loan applications within stipulated time". Further, in the Master Direction – Credit Card and Debit Card – Issuance and Conduct Directions, 2022 dated 21st April, 2022 it is clearly stated that In case of rejection of a credit card application, the card-issuer shall convey in writing the specific reason/s which led to the rejection of the application. As per the above two instructions of RBI, all credit card issuers have to disclose in writing reason for rejecting credit card application. The above 2 circulars should be invariably quoted in written complaint to SBI Card at email id: servi...@sbicard.com In the email also mention that as per Para 10.3 of Master circular on Customer Service in Banks dated July 1, 2015 "Banks should therefore ensure that all the banking facilities such as cheque book facility including third party cheques, ATM facility, Net banking facility, locker facility, retail loans, credit cards etc., are invariably offered to the visually challenged without any discrimination". Persons with vision impairment cannot be discriminated against on the basis of thumb impression as per below two regulatory guidelines i) Para 9.1, 9.2 (Clause a), and 9.3 (Clause a) of Master Circular on Customer Service in Banks dated July 1, 2015. ii) As per Para 2 (Clause e) of circular ‘Banking Facilities to Senior Citizens and Differently Abled’ dated November 9, 2017 facilities offered to sick/old/incapacitated persons who operate their account with thumb/toe impression is extended to persons with vision impairment also. Further state that SBI Card is requested to issue me credit card as I am legally competant to contract. In case of non-compliance within 30 calendar days, I am afraid that I will be compelled to approach Banking Ombudsman through CMS portal of RBI for redressal of my grievance in accordance with the provisions of Reserve Bank-Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2021. Please also be advised that as per Para 8 of Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policy dated October 8, 2017 Banking Ombudsman has been empowered to take up complaints if persons with disability are denied any banking service on pretext of disability. Re: [AI] Queries regarding SBI credit card
there is no use of approaching ombudsman even if your card is rejected because of thumb impression. recently my application with axisbank was rejected without giving any reason. when i approached ombudsman, they replied that i gave incorrect pan number even though I have applied online and there is no chance of accepting incorrect pan details. RBI closed my complaint even without investigating it.
