Om Sai Welfare Association for the Blind and Disable is conducting 1
day Reading Without Seeing seminar in colobration with Enable India
and Bookshare.

Who should participate:
•   All visually impaired persons.
•   Teachers for the blind.
•   Parents of blind children

We shall be covering the following topics during the day long programme:
- Challenges of Reading and Writing.
- Effects of not being able to Read and Write.
- Solutions for Reading and Writing.
- Demonstration of Modern technology.
- Hands on experience of using common tools for reading and writing.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to the participants.
There is no stay arrangement.
Date: 13th May, 2018, Time: 9 am to 5 pm.

C) EXPERIENCE ZONE

3 to 3.5 hours

Divide the participants into 4 - 5 groups of a similar size. All
low vision persons should be part of the same group.




LUNCH BREAK




Post Lunch Hands-On Experience

Participants will be broken up into smaller groups and will rotate
across demonstration counters to get hands-on feel of the technologies and ask
questions based on the same. The main demonstration counters are as follows:




I.   Low Vision Aids (MAGic,
video magnifiers, optical magnification systems)

II.  OCR and Reading Machine
(Kurzweil, SARA)

III. DAISY player hardware
(victor, angel, PTR 2), AMIS/FS reader, 
DAISY2go, NVDA ,JAWS, Samarth tools

IV. Refreshable Braille
Displays (PAC Mate, Notetaker) + Tactile Diagrams (PIAF  Sewell Line Kit)

V.  ADL: Talking Calculator,
Talking BP machine, Weighing scale, Liquid-level indicator, Colour recognizer
etc.




Each group is expected to spend 30 min per counter.

(15-20 min for demos, remaining 10 min for questions and answers)

For each item 4 - 5 features to be highlighted like what is the
USP of the product, the brief features of the product etc.
