Another one is 360 robotic cleaner which was around Rs. 38,000 last year when I
bought it, the app is not fully usable, but one can do major operations. There
are audio prompts for critical things.

All these robots in the mid price range can fundamentally perform dust cleaning
properly and can’t do water mopping so well. And even otherwise, it cannot take
out any stains in mopping. Additionally, cleaning corners is not so good in
these robots while mopping.

But the dust cleaning is excellent. One important factor is to check is that
whether your furniture allows enough space for the robot to use the space.

Expressing my feedback for MI company of this product. Cost was Rs.
25,000 and got free smart google speaker worth Rs. 4,000 with it.
Bought from MI website only.
there is no physical remote with this product. mobile application is
not much accessible. audio feedback from machine does available
though. For cleaning dust it works very well but with moping
performance is not that much satisfactory. So as told by you sir, it
can not replace manual mopping at present. additionally, we can not
use finaile or other liquid with water.

[AI] Review of robotic vacuum cleaner from visually impaired

2021-05-15 Thread prashant.rv
Dear All,

These days when domestic help is not available, many would be feeling the
need for assistance in cleaning the house.

I purchased the

Eureka Forbes Robo Vac N Mop Robotic Vacuum Cleaner with UV Sanitization
from Eureka Forbes (Black) at a cost of Rs. 20 k from amazon. These robotic
vacuum cleaners promise to move around the home on their own and clean it.
Many brands are available. However I believe most of them are similar in
terms of technology. I purchase the model from Eureka Forbes since they have
a established after sales network in the country.

Below I am sharing my experience and assessment of its usefulness for a
visually impaired.

First accessibility of operating these robot is limited. I purchased the
model which has a physical remote hoping that accessibility of the mobile
apps will not come in the way. To some extent this has proved to be right
although it is not possible to use all functions independently since the
remote also has a LCD screen which the visually impaired will not be able
to read. One positive point is that the robot gives all feedback by playing
audio prompts which the visually impaired can also use. For example, if it
gets stuck somewhere or has low battery or charging has started then you
will hear it say so.

Starting and stopping the machine is not a problem. Cleaning its dust bin
and mopping device is also accessible.

For a blind person it is not possible to determine if the robot actually
covered the whole floor or skipped certain areas/corners. However, if you
remove all obstacles from the floor properly such as chairs etc. with time
it will cover the whole floor of the house.

I think the mopping function is not that effective. I clean the mopping
cloth manually after it completes one room to improve its effectiveness. In
terms of picking up the dirt from the floor I think it does a good job. Note
that it will not clean rigid dirty spots on the floor and it also cannot
pick up big or heavy pieces from the floor.

Overall, visually impaired may get this device with limited expectations. It
is not a substitute for cleaning by hand. However, if your house doesn't get
very dirty, doesn't have much obstructions on floor then you may run this
robot as a substitute for cleaning with the broom.

It will be good to know if other robot vacuum cleaners have been
evaluated by the visually impaired.
