School dumps 'polio' boy 26 Jul, 2006| Updated at 1609hrs IST
RANCHI: A physically challenged boy, initially 'thrown-out' by the management of a school, was re-admitted after his father sought the intervention of higher authorities for redressal of the "unfair treatment." Ravi Ranjan, a class XI student who depends on crutches for movement, received a jolt when the management of a local school decided to strike out his name on the pretext that he was facing difficulty in attending practical class on the second floor. When it came to his notice, Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi immediately asked the concerned government departments to come to the aid of the hapless boy, official sources said on Wednesday. The school management, sensing its mistake, withdrew its decision on Tuesday, allowing the science student to join his pals. Earlier, Ranjan's father had moved the Jharkhand Educational Tribunal after the principal had asked the boy to drop out. The tribunal also took cognisance of the purported letter from the school management to Ranjan's father, Suresh Paswan. The letter from the school management claimed that the school authorities were not informed about Ranjan's physical condition during admission in this academic year. The developments took place at a time when the state government was carrying on a ' school chhalo abhiyan' to reduce the percentage of school drop-outs. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1814095.cms Vikas Kapoor, MSN ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Skype ID: dl_vikas Mobile: (+91) 9891098137.
