Re: [AI] Suggestions needed on OCR apps for Android

2020-03-02 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
   Dear Anirudh,

Try using the ABBYY FineReader. It is an optical character recognition
application developed by ABBYY. The program allows the conversion of image
documents into editable electronic formats. In particular, Microsoft Word,
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Rich Text Format, HTML, PDF/A,
searchable PDF, CSV and txt files. I have not used it personally but have
found people recommending it.

Hope this helps

Hi Anirudh,

There are quite a few applications available for OCR. You can chose any one
depending upon what suits you best.
Envision AI and Eye-D both are pretty good but are paid applications. You
can try Envision AI as it does offer initial trial period and if this
solves your purpose then you can go ahead with it.

Hope this helps!

Hi after installing speak I don't see the option of opening the pdf
with Speak app though I can view google Pdf reader, Eye D pro, acrobat
and drive options.
Is it right or I have gone wrong somewhere while installing the speak app?
Thanking you...

Hello Sir

Would you mind guiding me using Speak? I've already uninstalled KIBO
and installed SPEAK. My requirement is to read large pdfs (mostly
scanned ). sometimes it can be hand-written as well.

Thanks and regards,

Re: [AI] Suggestions needed on OCR apps for Android

2020-02-23 Thread Rahul Kelapure
Kibo is a promising app but it has strainge issues like if you run OCR
on a PDF document, it will show that, the OCR is being performed but
after the OCR is complete, the app will crash and you have to repeate
the whole process. even then, the problem is the same.

It is not useful for multipal page document. however, its good if
there are just 1 or 2 pages to OCR and read.

I hope, Kibo folks resolve this issue at the earliest.

Re: [AI] Suggestions needed on OCR apps for Android

2020-02-22 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Hi Mahesh,

Envision AI is quite a good application. Try downloading it and using it as
it offer trial period initially and if you are completely satisfied with it
then go for it.
OCR capability of Envision AI is pretty good. Check it out for yourself
before purchasing anything.
Hope this helps

2020-02-22 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
Hi, thanks a lot for that response. I'll surely try it out.
Just to share, I tried out Text Fairy, and though it is not a specific
app for visually impaired, seems a good option to try out. It gives
decent OCR quality and importantly, it is free.

[AI] Suggestions needed on OCR apps for Android

2020-02-22 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
Hi listers,
I would like to get your suggestions on an OCR app for Android. As
many of you may have noticed, the KNFB Reader, the much hyped Android
OCR app for print disabled, has ended up being a complete disaster,
particularly on Android 10. The app had issues on my Nokia 6.1 for
some time, and once I got the latest Android OS update to Android 10,
the app doesn't even launch. I understand many users across Android OS
versions and devices are struggling with it.
As such, I would like to shift to something that works. I have heard
about Envision AI. Can some share their feedback on the functionality
and performance of the app? Opting for a lifetime subscription is
worth it? Are there any good free image to text apps available for
Android that works well with Google TalkBack?
Looking forward,
Regards,
