Re: [AI] Two blind HSC students find writers at 11th hour

This is a very serious problem and we hear of such cases every single
year. It'd be great if colleges take up starting a writer's forum and
officially helped at least class 12 students to find writers. They
could make it part of courses like Value Education where students are
graded for participating in social causes. Its not that students are
unwilling, they may just be nervous. Hence this coming from their
professors may give them the confidence to volunteer.
A letter going out to all colleges from XRCVC and similar
organisations would go a long way towards this endeavour.

[AI] Two blind HSC students find writers at 11th hour

2020-02-20 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
Two blind HSC students find writers at 11th hour - Times of India

MUMBAI: Until hours before the HSC examination began on Tuesday, the
parents of two visually impaired students struggled to find them writers
for the English paper. While a student from Tardeo found a writer late on
Monday, the brother of Naved Shaikh, a student from Boisar, managed to
convince someone to write the paper only after they reached the exam
centre. Class XII students require a writer who is a year younger to them.
Naved’s brother Suhail said: “We had asked everyone in his college and our
neighbourhood, but either students were not willing to be a writer or did
not meet the criteria. We reached out to people on social media too, but to
no avail. We thought he would not be able to write the exam on Tuesday and
went to the centre to inform them. There we found some class XI students
and one of them volunteered, but only for today.” The family is now looking
for a volunteer to write the other papers. The Mumbai division didn’t
report any cases of malpractices on Tuesday. Some students at a Borivli
centre were asked to remove their footwear, but the centre officials said
they had done so on verbal instructions of the board staff and would not
follow it from the next exam.
