[AI] Web Accessibility

2010-06-19 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Hi,

I'm starting a journey to create a hand full of content on accessibility
that would enable more people to learn accessibility and grab employment in
the accessibility industry. Those of you interested to learn web
accessibility, and need help, may chat with me on Yahoo! Messenger (only
text chat and no voice) between 9:00 PM to 11 PM (Monday to Friday); I'm yet
to decide the timing for Saturday and Sunday but as of right now, it will
mostly be 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Please note that your discussion should be focused on web accessibility and
any other requests will be ignored. Also, it is helpful for you to do a
research on your query and if it's not answered on your search engine, then
it would be an opportunity for us to brainstorm. The reason I suggest folks
to do a research before asking a question, so that you will land up with
more interesting explanation and lot of new things.

My Yahoo! IM name is vasugroupma...@yahoo.co.in A humble request not to add
me to your messenger list until we interact and agree that we both need to
be on IM list of each other.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you folks. For any questions and
concerns, feel free to write to me off the list at acc...@srinivasu.org and
do not spam the list.

Best regards,

2007-03-10 Thread Anjali Arora
friends
my office intranet page does not have link for next and previous pages.
I want to suggest the needful technical adaptations to them.
I know about w3c guidelines but plz specifically mention few of understandable
changes to be incorporated.

since I as a non technical person need to communicate with the technical people
in the matter so would want to understand how to explain to them.

1. what should they do to make a link on the graphic of the icon for next and
previous page?
2. how to provide for an edit box for comments?

of course they will themselves be able to understand what I need, but in the
process I want to learn.

hope to get feedback from you all
thanks and regards

Hi Anjali

Yes, the web designers would easily understand what you want them to do.

They will give the appropriate file name to that linked file.

as far as collecting data in a edit box we usually use the textarea HTML
tag for that.

be one of the basis to check the accessibility of a website?

[AI] Web Accessibility Tool

2012-07-10 Thread Singhal, Vivek
Dear Group members,

The picture captures are provided on various websites so as to ensure that
spammers does not bring down the website by generating huge traffic. Since
these captures are a barrier for VI community so it is a good step to get them
removed. But this will result in making the websites vulnerable to hackers in
the name of accessibility and may not be accepted by web designers. In order to
remove these image captures it will be essential to offer them an alternative
solution. I Have seen on some websites that they will put a very simple
question and provide a text box to enter the value, e.g. A simple question like
"what is 2 + 2?" and user is required to input 4 in a text box next to the
question. Such things / questions can be readily read by screen readers and
help in providing a barrier free environment. Sorry Vikas for not providing an
answer to question raised in your original email.

Vivek Singhal,

Hi,
Before filing any suit, the organizations should essentially take note
of the user groups who will be affected by the outcome of such suit.

Secondly, a proper and thorough research with regard to the parties to
be included in the suit is essential.

Like:
IRCTC, all the public sector banks( where the captcha is essential,
and no suitable option is provided, and any other such government
entaty also where NIC is not involve in designing the website.

Thanks and regards,

[AI] Web accessibility of IRCTC page

2014-08-10 Thread Vinod Benjamin
Dear List,

I am writing to you to check if any of our friends are using online
ticket bookking through IRCTC website? previously i was able to do
till final step , but as they have changed the web site its not seems
to be accessible to the screen reader , in loging in there is a visual
verification no audio verification attached to it , so i over come the
same by using webvisum through firefox after 2 or 3 atempts , so it
logs in in from and to field when we type the station name the
suggestion is not getting read by screen reader, so finding it very
difficult to access it,
do any of our friends have a diffrent way of doing it? if so kindly
advice and through light on the same,
and also if we could write to the web designers about web
accessibility it would be great, i have even wrote the same in the
feedback page , no response yet,
so dont know whom to take this issue further ,
it would be great if our list would do some thing about this.

regards,
vinod rayan
