Bangalore: Sixteen-year-old visually challenged student Kavya dreams of
becoming a lecturer. Her disability has not kept her from pursuing her
vision. Hailing
from a poor family in Devanahalli, she scored 80% in her SSLC exams.

Kavya was one among the awardees felicitated by Governor HR Bharadwaj on
the occasion of Independence Day in Raj Bhavan, on Saturday.

Another achiever was Shivananda Pattanashetty from Saidapura, Bagalkot.
After losing his father at a young age, he was brought up by his mother,
a daily
wage labourer. Without much help, he scored highest marks in SSLC exams
in his taluk.

Sushmitha Dhanapal was another such face. Born with mobility and
cognitive problems, the 29-year-old works as assistant librarian in
Telecommunication Organisation.

Regards,
Vishnu
