dear Access Indians, hello with love and respect to all. It is my pleasure to be here and a duty to share with you all a few words about myself as a newbie to this community and who hopes to be an active member and participant in the prospicient time to come. I had heard about this mailing list a long ago when I did not have a mobile or computer with me. But, when I got my computer and some computer skills, I was scared by someone that, by joining this mailing list, you make the dust bin of your inbox. Infact, being a man I am who believes “cleanliness is next to godliness” (that includes keeping my inbox tidy), had not given a thought to be here. Well, why am I here today? Simple. I have realized that others prejudice was my predisposition.
How did I come to know that? Well that’s the interesting part of the story. Recently, while I was browsing a social media, facebook to be precise, I came across the phrase “Access India Mailing List” and that made me to remember the whole scene again and google about it something. That landed me to the archive page of this mailing list and reading the mails here was an intellectual delight. Being an intellectual ape I am who relishes some intellectual conversations, I joined without giving a forethought. I am Anirudh Rao from Karnataka, a post graduate in English Literature. As I have come to know by my parents, I might have been born sighted but, lost my sight by the age of nine months for the reasons unknown to medical artistry. I consider myself that I am a congenitally blind individual for at the age of nine months, I could have not seen the world much and can’t remember any sight in present. My parents gave me an inclusive atmosphere since my childhood and I am a strong proponent of inclusivity and hate the visually challenged being isolated from the mainstream. To be exact, I am also a critic of our own general mindset of the community. As I have already said somewhere, I am a knowledge lover. Being a post graduate in English literature, that is not the only interest of mine. I believe, curiosity is like the hunger which stomach feels has to be satisfied in every way. I have one year’s computers’ certification from NIIT Delhi besides my M.A. in English. My curiosity extends itself to computers, literature, math and science, well what not? So please feel free for comradeship. Thank you Anirudh Rao Your intellectual comrade. -- "every human is disabled because, none has got the wings to fly".
