[AI] apple mac book or dell laptop
hi all,hi all, I want to know, which laptop should I buy whether mac book or general laptop? suppose if you suggest mac book, is that accessible for person with vision impaired?, is it comfortable to use this? and how it performs in comparatively to other laptops. -- Disclaimer: 1. a2a: None is better..but they are different. Depends what you want to do. If you want ; 1. Overpriced laptop 2. looks pretty 3. Good screen resolution 4. Easy backup 5. Easy to use and “dumb proof “ 6. No learning curve 7. You dont mind being stuck with an ecosystem and a brand that controls everything 8. You just want tp switch on and not learn anything and not worry about anything 9. Then get apple laptop But if you want to: 1. Learn about computers 2. Get a much higher performance laptop for the same price 3. Learn a bit about software 4. Learn about protecting your laptop 5. Have flexibility to tinker with software 6. Learn about how things work 7. Have (some) freedom to do modifications 8. Not be limited to one software manufacturer or brand 9. Then get Dell. Both have excellent warranty and service. The Dell you will definitely get more bang for your buck. The Apple is basically dumb proof, and you will learn more with Dell. MAC book has inbuilt screen reader VoiceOver. Re: [AI] apple mac book or dell laptop
Hi, The points that Minar makes in his comparison happen to be incorrect, at least points for mac 1 (subjective and Del is also quite overpriced as compared to its competitors) but yes macs are rather expensive, 5, 6 and 8, all wrong. for a del, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 actually nevermind, I don't even 😂 @ the OP, Depends what you need the laptop for. There's quite a bit of learning curve to the mac as they work differently then windows does, and my advice would be to stay far away from the macbooks that had touch bar function keys, should you at all choose to go for them. However, once you give it the necessary time into learning how it works, it's fairly decent, especially so if you happen to own other apple devices for things like continuity, handoff and so on. you can should you wish to do so, and or have the need for it, install windows on it as well, in fact the best machine that I have ever used is a macbook pro with windows installed on it. 🤣. have one that's about 5 years old and it's still going strong, although it does heat up a little bit, now. If you'd rather stick to what you know though, and choose to go with a windows laptop, I have always suggested people to stay away from del, as their machines as I stated earlier tend to be far overpriced as compared to others in the market, and in essence you end up paying for all the advertising costs. If I had to choose to get a laptop with windows on it though, I'd personally go for Asus, HP oor lenovo, with Asus being my top choice. Do the proper research into the machine you choose to get though, especially in regards to their thirmals and performance throttling (one thing you won't need to worry about with macs), avoid processors with the U at the end. I'll dig up my old posts if I am able to find them on this topic, although rather old they have good general advice that should apply even today. Hope that helps some, You can also run windows On Mon, 5 Sept 2022 at 10:23, Minar Singh wrote: > a2a: None is better..but they are different. Depends what you want to do. > If you want ; > 1. Well everyone have different opinion. I won't recommend anyone Asus laptop due to internal speaker and battery issue. I haven't use Lenovo so won't comment on that. HP is fine. Re: [AI] apple mac book or dell laptop
Hi, I have found the middle/ higher end of Asus laptops far better than similarly priced Dell/ HP one's. MAC has a huge learning curve which is not worth wasting your time + a lot of people (specially visually impaired) buy MAC but end up installing windows :) :) So my advise would be to go for a mid range windows machine. Re: [AI] apple mac book or dell laptop
Hi, Good suggestion Ajay, and I second your opinion about Asus Again though, I'd recommend researching the thermals and reviews of the machine before you click that buy button, and or go and bring it home. Honestly, I could have stuck it out with the mac, like I said it takes a bit getting used to, but once you know how to work it, it's just as good. The only problem though for me was that I wanted to play games, and MacOS doesn't really have that many audiogames which are sparse enough even on windows to begin with, so I had to put on windows on that thing. But yes, if you are used to windows, and are starting with something like a uni or college etc, I'd suggest sticking with what you know, rather than trying to handle both learning the MAC side of things and learning what you are in the college/ uni for at the same time 😂 hth, On Mon, 5 Sept 2022 at 14:19, Ajay Minocha wrote: > Hi, > > I have found the middle/ higher end of Asus laptops far better than > similarly priced Dell/ HP one's. > MAC has a huge learning curve which is not worth wasting your time + a > lot of people (specially visually impaired) buy MAC but end up > installing windows :) :) So my advise would be to go for a mid range > windows machine. > > Cheers, > Ajay > > On 05/09/2022, Minar Singh wrote: > > Well everyone have different opinion. Re: [AI] apple mac book or dell laptop
Hi Nishant, I would just like to share my thoughts on your opinion about Dell laptops being far overpriced than others in the market. I think this can also be subjective if we align it with your point on MacBooks being rather expensive, but not overpriced. If we end up paying all the advertising costs when purchasing Dell laptops, it should also be applied to MacBooks as well. Because every product manufacturer recovers their advertising costs, expense for research and development activities, employee expenses, costs related to investments and acquisitions etc from the revenue generated from their products and services. While this can be a personal opinion, I have used Dell laptops for almost 12 years now, and it has been a very smooth, responsive and intuitive experience. From a budget segment laptop to a high end performance laptop, I found it to be flawless, especially considering its performance, design, durability, throttling, simultaneous multi-network connectivity, Device driver compatibility, various optimisation tools and customer support. If we simply look at the specifications or configurations on paper, we may come across various manufacturers offering the same machine at a cheaper price, but it would be wise to consult with the users of such machines to consider the other aspects that might potentially impact the purchasing decision if overlooked. Re: [AI] apple mac book or dell laptop
Hi Bikram , good points, but to reply to a few of them, We do end up paying advertising, R and D and all such costs for all the products that we buy, but rather a lot more for some as compared to the rest, Del being a good contender for such, Whilst I do understand that you've had good experiences and I am sure many others have had the same, Generally I do not find that to be the case. and yes, Not just going by paper specs, either, that's the last thing I ever do, or suggest anyone does, either, hence my harping on and on about reading reviews from multiple places, going through the specs and so on before you choose to buy a machine. My recommendations or lack thereof come through either my own experiences or that of people that I have known/ read, the results of which I have already stated in this thread, if yours have differed, that's usually a good thing, too. In the end all I do and ask everyone does is use what works for you, rather than be fanboys for any company at all, it's us paying them to use their products after all, not the other way around.
