this is quite a problem for sure.
I think the inaccessibility curve too is raising with the accessibility curve.
UPI payment is the best available option now.

Harshit, let me know the procedure of using my credit card through
scan and pay mode. Generally scan and pay feature works with UPI and
the payment is made from the bank account not from any credit card.
It would be interesting if we are able to pay using our credit card
through scan and pay method.

Dear List Members,
Completing transaction of less than ₹ 5000 without PIN requires
cardholder to keep contactless payment (tap & pay) switched on.
However, this is fraught with its own risk. Those who want to use this
feature, are advised to carry their debit/credit card wrapped in an
alluminium foil or alluminium wallet. This considerably reduces the
risk of someone swiping the card without cardholder's consent when it
is inside their pocket/wallet.

RE: [AI] inAccessible Point of Sale swipe machine (touch screen)

2021-10-28 Thread George Abraham
This is certainly an emerging problem which will only get worse.

If the transaction is less than Rs5k and if your credit/Debit card has a built
in chip than you can ask to do the transaction via wifi. This will not require
kyou to put in your pin. However, if the amount is more than Rs5k then you
have a genuine problem. I do not think we should settle for a flimsy work
around.

I have filed a case in this regard with the Delhi High Court in November 2019.
The case has had a couple of hearings so far.

Best,

George

Dear Access Indians,
Of late I have been increasingly experiencing merchants using touch
screen which makes virtually impossible to enter credit card pin. Any
idea what is the solution for independently entering the pin without
seeking sighted assistance. Personally I feel my security is
compormise if I take sighted assistance to enter pin for credit card/
debit card.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
Asif
