2010-07-04 Thread Amit Bhatt

Nokia C5 is a newly launched model in the market.
I understand from it's technical specifications that it should work with
Talks and Mobile Speak as well.
C5 is expected to be listed in the list of handset of Nuance Website very
soon. The current MRP of this model is around 8500 in INR.

You can also think buying it.

This model has some issues as far as accessibility is concern for instance,
talks doesn't read contacts this window is totally inaccessible in this
handset. So, wait for updated version of talks.

Nokia E63 is good one, which costs around 8700 rupees. Talks is compatible

2010-07-05 Thread Dr. Yogesh Sharma
Hi Jignesh, I too second Dr. Padmanabham's view regarding E 63, since it is
decidedly better as compared to C 5 with regard to talks support. Although I
have not used it personally, but I am pasting here the mail buy Mr. K.
Nageshwarya, who is using it. However, I would advise you to examine it
personally before purchasing it.
Regards,
   Yogesh.

I've been using Nokia E63 for the last 7 months quite successfully. Those who
have typing and/or computer knowledge can master it quickly. Chr key, function
key, edit key, delete key, ctrl key are some of the useful keys in the handset.
Besides, built-in accessibility features such as Voice Aide and say caller's
name are also worth noting. There're one touch keys for emailing, reading new
messages, calendar, contacts, etc. I make good use of the dictionary. But
there're some problems with the arrow keys.

Re: [AI] mobile with talking software

2010-07-05 Thread Pranay Gadodia
Hi,
I have been using E63 from mid of last month.

In this talks does not speak in Calendar in the week view and month view. I
have seen this with talks 5 and 4.11.3.
With its QWERTY keypad am still trying to match my earlier speed of typing on a
numeric keypad phone. It has only one raised dot, on the key 5 which also is
letter G.
Initially you might feel its weight of 140 gms little heavy if one is used to a
light weight small sized phone.

Would check out the audio tutorial provided by Nuance, which I do not know if
has ways to be faster with keypad.

Earlier I have used Nokia 5320 Music Xpress, which I think is quite good,
thanks to Amit Bhat for suggesting it. Its speaker volume was also good
compared to E63, so talking using the speakerphone was easier.
If one likes to listen to radio or music on ones phone, the earplugs with E63
are bigger which hurts after a short use. The sound quality of these earbuds is
also not very good.
No secondary camera if you intend to do video calling and let the other person
see you.

But it comes with Wireless LAN card which might be useful for accessing
internet. For a low vision person the camera flash can work as a bright torch.
You need not mute talks to listen to radio.

If one can spend 12000, then E52 (improved version of E51) could also be
considered. Its processor is of 600MHz with a decent RAM. I do not remember but
think its a music edition phone.

regards,

Pranay.
